When bok choy is blanched and then seasoned with this tremendously delicious seasoning mix, it’s soft, juicy, a little cripsy, and takes on a sweet, salty, pungent doenjang flavor. Whenever I taste it, I can’t help but say: “Umm~ delicious delicious!”

How delightful that she traveled to Maine with her own essential Korean food ingredients and the little rice cooker that her mother gave her! Now, THAT'S a smart, happy foodie! And a real inspiration to this one who's developed a raft of food allergies. I can do something like that, too instead of suffering unnececessarily. How clever she is! What a gift to us all.

Many of these greens can be used. I can often get Swiss chard, which can be really interesting. If I cannot find the exact green I want, I often try something similar. I do try to look it up first after I buy it. Most of these greens as far as I can tell blanche beautifully and they can then be cooked and served hot or used for very nice cold dishes. The bit of crunch they retain is really nice.

I just love your videos and tried some of them. Of course, following your instructions, the results have always been very tasty.
But above all, it’s so much fun watching you enjoying your food so much. As another comment said, you are much like an antidepressant. I’m always feeling happier after watching one of your videos.
Please continue with your helpful and cheerful style. Thanks so much ❤

Your enthusiasm and love for Korean food is so contagious, Maangchi! Thank you for sharing your delicious culture! LOL I do have a question... It is a bit hard for me to find doenjang, so don't be mad at me, but... could I use the white Miso instead, would you recommend it? Is the taste about the same? Please let me know if there is another alternative. I truly enjoy your videos, you are such a joy to watch. Thank you. You have a great fan in San Diego -- Me!!

Yes, you can use miso if Korean doenjang is not available. Good luck!

I made this with bok choy several times and I love it.
Then last night I had 1/2 a head of iceberg lettuce which was about to go bad. I sautéed the lettuce with garlic and vegetable oil for two minutes. Then I added this sauce . ....it was really delicious .
It's definitely my new favorite .
