I had a very slow metabolism prior to glp1, and that hasn’t changed. I’m older and I lose slowly, about a pound a week. Yes, I’m envious of those who lose quickly. I’m just staying on the glp1 train and expect to get to my destination eventually.

Just completed 4 months….original weight at start 210/5’10”. Went from 2.5 to 5mg and the past two months on 7.5mg. Current weight 185lbs. Minimal side effects aside from burping/gas and constipation (which I already struggle with anyway).
Today was shot day, so starting my 3rd month on 7.5mg. Still plan to lose another 10-15lbs.

My sister had lost about 40 pounds and decided to do a 3 day fast. She was able to compete the fast and ate a specific way that was recommended to break the fast. After that her hunger really kicked in and she began to overeat. She ended up gaining the weight that she lost while fasting and about 10 more pounds! This time the weight is not coming off and she is really upset with herself.
I like to eat and eat when I'm hungry so intermittent fasting is not for me. I do count calories and make sure to keep my protein at about 100g per day. My son on the other hand fasts through out the week and is less strict on the weekends. He is normal weight and I am not (yet😊)
    Love your updates!

Yes….compelled to comment, lol. I intermittent fast from 7pm until 2pm the next day with zero issues….just giving my GI tract a break each night. It would be completely “normal” to fast from 7pm until whenever you BREAKfast. That is helpful to your body and prolly what is the healthiest practice for most!😊 love you guys❤😊

I came into using GLP's after nearly a year of IF 18/6. the first 6 weeks of GLP use I was still IF. I did well those first 6 weeks with weight loss and minimal side effects. However after reading a ton of info and studies on muscle building and sports exercise, I decided to change it up a bit. I stopped IF and now make sure to have a small morning meal that is protein led to start my day. Sometimes its just smoked salmon and a veg as I really don't have an appetite in the morning. I feel much stronger, more energetic and the fat loss has actually increased. I'll stick with this while I'm on GLP's. Once I'm at goal weight and in maintenance, my focus will be exclusively on muscle building I may try IF again. I'll do periodic 72 hr fasts as the health benefits are huge!

    • @thedownsized

Sounds like the protein breakfast is helping! ❤️ It’s almost impossible to build muscle in a calorie deficit. Also when no food is coming in your body will start breaking down muscle if all the fat is gone. I really don’t like the idea of fasting for 72 hours. Please be careful. ❤️

@@debp3810 works for me. I'm down 50 pounds since February. I lose about two pounds a week. I feel fantastic. I fast 16/8 from 8 pm to noon the next day. I workout three days a week plus besides housework I do extra little things around the house. I stay busy on non-workout days because I have the energy to do it. Is it lifetime sustainable? I believe so. I know people that fast but don't really realize they are fasting and have been all their life. I get three meals a day and sometimes especially while on vacation I don't stick to my fast. So it may not be for everyone but for me it seems to be working just fine.

If you eat 3 times a day and are calorie deficient that us the easiest way to go into starvation mode. I love to eat and really enjoy my meals during my eating window. One question: I hear people say,”oh I was deficient in GLP1/GIP hormones and the evidence of that is that I am losing weight on it so I need to take it for life”. I just think it boosts GLP1 activity but there is not really a thing to be “deficient”. That would mean there are millions of GLP1 deficient people.
I trust your research, anything you have found to support this or not? I don’t think there is even a blood test to check these levels like one can for other hormones.

I enjoyed your video it has alot of good information. I agree with you that fasting is not for everyone, as alot of people do find their dopamine release from eating. So eating 3 times a day is great for people who can process food normally.
I have EoE which is an autoimmune disease of the esophagus, My allergen is Whey from Milk which is in alot of things which limits my diet to begin with. I have combined this medication with the tool of fasting to help me have less risk when eating. I also tend to eat softer even liquid food sometimes to help. I also have been in the pre diabetes range since last year at my starting weight of 265.
In January of 2024 I made a plan and incremented it slowly to get me to this point. In June I started a more pro muscle diet and started to track what was going into my body at the macro level.
Now since July my eating schedule goes as Fri Sat Sun 10am-2pm eating window. From Sunday to 10am on Wednesday is a water fast period. I eat around 50% of what I normally would staying away from processed carbs for the day. Thursday is Feast day, however I still stay under my caloric intake target I normally just eat small meals throughout the day. Now during my water fasting days I do exercise more then my eating days just because I have more time.
My goal weight is 180lb By December 1st. I'm currently at 234lb I am also still only on the first dose level of the medication I go up Tomorrow.
My main motivator has been my grandma who passed last year, If this medication would have been around 3 years ago she would still be alive and happy. She was a Type 2 who broke her hip and became immobile for a short time. Weight just pours in at that point.

@@thedownsized you do realize 72 hours is three days right? Many have stated that they have fasted for that very that amount of time.
It’s not about “not being able to eat” I choose to not eat.
Water, black coffee and Teas as well as bone broth through out that time. My eating window closes every day at 6:00 PM and opens again at 1:00 PM.
It works for me. Before you dispense your opinions to the masses, at least educate yourself on the benefits and the reasons why it does in fact work. You don’t have to agree with it.

If it works for you, great! I have tried it, I don’t like it, and yes that’s my opinion. My focus is protein. Eating from 1-6pm only would make it very difficult for me to get 100g of protein in. And yes I realize 72hrs =3 days 😜

This might be a stupid question but if you lost weight on say 5 mg and you went up to 7.5 and you're not losing weight. why is that?
One would think with logic a higher dose would help you better

    • @thedownsized
      @thedownsized  Месяц назад +1

Your body reacts differently to the medication every week and every dose.
And the higher dose does not actually mean you will lose more
You will occasionally steal and sometimes that simply means your body needs to pause
It could mean you are not eating enough or you need to add some fats of carbs into you meals
It could also mean you are eating too much.
Or it could simply take time
