Kindle Oasis Case Review - Which is best?

- The Kindle Oasis is a great device, but it feels a big fragile and slippery. Because of this, I wanted to get a case for the device. In this video, I review the official Amazon Kindle Oasis case, as well the leather version, and a third party one too!

I went with the premium leather case. It is been almost 2 years and it looks, feels and works Great ! Also, holding the Kindle Oasis with the heavy end with one hand but the cover open just enought to put your pinky or another finger. This has been the best method for holding for long periods.

It's like you read my mind! I was looking for a video comparing third party cases with the official Amazon ones. I have three Amazon cases for my Oasis - the red fabric one, the black leather and the brown premium leather. Originally, I was going to return two of them, but I ended up keeping them all because I like to switch cases. I probably use the premium leather one the most. Keep up the good work with these Kindle videos. I'm on my 3rd Kindle and I keep learning new stuff from you.
I have the same blue fabric amazon case and love it. I’ve had it for about a year now. The little rubber stripping along the side came off completely about a month ago but there’s no fraying. I also bring my kindle everywhere I go so it gets tossed around frequently.
Also, when I hold my kindle, I put a finger between the flap and the back and keep my thumb by the buttons. I haven’t had any b issues with the case bothering or poking me and I have a good grip with one hand.

I went the other direction: I got a lovehandle and stuck it on the back of the oasis. It's like a popsocket except it has a stretchy piece of fabric that you slip your fingers into. I think this is better than a popsocket because I don't have to hold my fingers together when I read. I can completely relax my fingers, but the kindle is still easy to hold.
Then I bought a fabric envelope that I keep the Kindle in when I'm not reading. It has a soft interior to protect the kindle. It's nice.
I prefer this combo to the cases because I couldn't find a case that folds with the back of the oasis. I like having the thicker part to hold, and when you put these cases on the thing you end up w/ a flat back, just like other non-Oasis kindles. That's fine, but I think the thick part of the Oasis is a feature, not a bug. Not being able to take advantage of that makes these cases a no-go for me.

Hi, Maneet! Great review! I bought a Casebot case when I purchased my Oasis in 2018. I read a lot. The spine has become spineless! The case slips off center causing the battery to run down frequently. I finally bought the Kindle blue cover (like yours). It seems real durable especially the spine. I agree with your review. Knowing the behavior of leather, I think it would do the same as the third party. Look forward to reading your reviews…you are thorough!

I have the $50 Amazon leather case for my Oasis and I have noticed that there is a significant decrease in battery life with it.
Even if I did not use my Oasis it was draining the battery a lot - and I have no idea why!
I have Wi-Fi off and even put the brightness level all the way down and it still did not help.
So I took it out of the case and began using a Sleeve for it - and voila! - it worked!
Now my battery life is TREMENDOUS- as good as or better than my old Paperwhite ever was.
Has anyone else had this issue?

I bought a new Oasis, and with it I purchased both the premium leather case and a third party origami case. I use the origami case exclusively. I really miss the Kindle Voyage with the premium leather case - with that one, you had both the premium leather AND the origami feature. Really convenient for reading at your desk.
I will be getting the oasis as my first ever kindle at the end of september and luckily, I was already set on buying the material one from amazon. The way the leather one in this video moves would absolutely annoy me and distract me from reading so I am glad I found this video. I am still not sure whether to get a screen protector or not as it will mostly be on my night stand in my bedroom and if I drop it, it will land on a soft fluffy carpet so I doubt the screen will smash. I have heard others say that kindle screens are beasts but I am not sure because I have never owned one and I don't know anyone else who has a kindle.
I have the Ayotu Skin Touch Feeling Case for All-New Kindle Oasis(10th Gen). Amazing case! Super soft and durable. Been using it daily for 2 years and it shows no wear. It has a rubber backing instead of hard plastic and it fits perfect with no sharp edges. Its only $25 on Amazon. I also bought the Young Me rubber case ($15) which is nice because you can hold the kindle and actually use the ergo hold, but it has no screen cover so its just for home use. Both are water proof. I recommend both. This is why I have a love hate relationship with my oasis. Whats the point of having and ergo frame if you can't use it? Thanks for your videos!
I use the origami stand thingy all the time. I set it on the table when I eat at the kitchen island
I bought an Ayotu fabric case for my Oasis 2 when I first got it and it’s still good as new and I read on it daily. It was $20. It is a very nice case, just as good as the Amazon fabric case for half the price. Don’t pay premium prices for Amazon cases when you can get third party cases that are just as good if not better for much less.
I have curiosity to know that can we use OTG cable in kindle ?
I use the fabric one, mine wore out like your origami one after a month, but I just teared them off and don't mind it anymore.
But when you put these kinds of cover on, the grip is useless. I like three grip so I also use the one-piece transparent cover sometimes.

I purchased a third party case. It fits very good. The case has magnet and when I close the lid , strongly enough is attached and for opening the case magnetic force feels clearly.
But , the auto sleep and wake up does not work and I have to press the power button to wake it up.
I found that my Kindle works well. When I tried and attached a surface magnet from other device such as ipad case on the edge of the kindle oasis 3rd gen it goes to sleep and with removing the magnet , the kindle wakes up automatically.
Is this a problem of the case?
I thought that every case that magneticly is closed will have auto sleep & wake up. Isn't it?

Maneet, must say you have made some of the best kindle videos out there on RUclips....very informative and practical. Quick question, how to hold a Kindle Oasis with the cover on? Are you able to enjoy the ergonomic feature in the Kindle Oasis with the cover on, or is using a paperwhite would be a better experience?
Thanks so much! I use my Oasis with the case on, and the ergonomics are still great. I find the case actually helps with making it more grippy and less slippery.
Got paperwhite and want Oasis for the handle…. But if I have to put a case i lose the handle 🤷🏻♂️
How do the official covers hold up? Some of the reviews have the plastic crumbling with light use or the fabric coming undone.

Us oasis screen is really sceatch proof or a separate matt screen protector will add further protection without adding further reflection....

Does the oragami case allow the oasis to stand in landscape mode? Or only vertical portrait mode?
I have the case and it allows both orientations!
Does the origami style case work in portrait mode? I noticed both times you put it in landscape mode, which would be useless for me.
Absolutely, it is the only way I read, feels more like reading a printed book.
You should try running a lighter around the fraying edge. If it's acrylic it will melt and secure itself.

I splurged for the premium leather case, and I don't have the issues you have with the standard leather case. I don't have sharp edges on the plastic, and the leather is different and does not slide around when open. The leather develops character and patinas much easier and quicker. It also feels great to hold!
2:39 loose threads- use a match or lighter to melt the fibers.
I hate that they changed the whole case thing with the Oasis. My Oasis' case has extra battery in it, now I don't want to ever have to replace it :D

I use the origami case and no other. I wouldn't own a case that doesn't stand on its own. That's how I read outside on my chair with a big wide arm. Mine didn't have a fabric surface. Rather it has a plastic case and has never frayed or failed yet (over 2 years now).
I'm probably going to give up on my Oasis. I constantly struggle to find a comfortable way to hold it. For me at least, the ergonomics are all wrong.
I find the oasis uncomfortable too, I actually get hand cramps if I read for a long period of time.
They’ll probably come out with a newer Kindle this year or next year anyways, so hang tight and use it towards a trade-in.
Have to agree. Oasis feels awkward to me also. It's actually been a bit of a disappointment. I'd rather a PW with the lighting and screen flip. Side buttons just like the Voyage, not the clicky, creaky Oasis sort.

Paying 260€ for a kindle but saving on the case…. MAKES .. SENSE.
All this new covers are quite fragile. The origami does not work properly. I bought one for parperwhite 10th generation and it is really a bad product. I have the original amazon origami cover in my kindle voyoager ah that is a really good cover. I do not recommend any of these covers for anyone.
