I had someone who was stealing my lunch at work, so i decided to dice up some hot peppers into my bowl and mark it with my name and HOT label, as you guessed that didn’t stop the person from eating it and I figured out who it was, my lunch was never eaten again 😂
The property owners don't realize how dangerous leaving that fence there is. There is a law that allows someone to take possession of property if they can prove they have maintained it for 7 years. They have already allowed the fence to stay there for 3. That is why the jerk neighbors haven't mentioned it again. They are hoping to just wait it out and own that peice of property without having to pay anything. Sometimes it does not pay to be non-confrontational.
Story 1: OP isnt a jerk at all and neither is the gay guy. The scottish guy sure was though. Who cares if that guy is gay and who cares if he's giving out compliments? Hopefully the scottish guy had to sleep in the streets that night.
Story 2: OP should learn to tell people no, or report people to police for child abandonment or deception. That is a complete jerk and scumbag move by the parents. The OP is right, what if something bad happened to the house or something?? They totally would've left the baby behind, not knowing the baby was even there. Good thing those people left the country with no notice.... as im sure something like CPS was on their tail before then.
Story 3: This is why you always Always ALWAYS read the fine print to ANY kind of contract, and if you aren't sure about something or something seems off, then do NOT sign it. Good thing the OP did so, although a bit late considering they were charged those fees at first, but also good that they got the money back and then some after threats to go public.
Story 4: Good job, OP. I totally would've done the same thing. Leave other people's thing alone.
Story 5: This is a lesson why you NEVER leave your money unattended or flaunt it around. If the restaurant is refusing the camera footage and hung up on the OP, then something is VERY shady here... and dumpster diving for it? Talk about a lame excuse. Someone there clearly tried to walk off with it. Too bad the OP didnt get a lawyer or the cops involved here, that restaurant sucks.
Story 6: Accidental or intentional? OP had a proper survey done and the neighbours knew about it and still did the fence and landscaping... and as it is on your property, you can legally do whatever you like with it. OP isnt a jerk, but those neighbours sure are for multiple reasons. If i were the OP, i would be talking to the other neighbours to set the record straight or get someone to tell those neighbours to back off.
For those gym memberships during COVID, here in Aus, we had a few gyms try and continue charging members through the lockdown, and more to the point, try and charge members to 'suspend' their memberships until after COVID. My brother's gym was amongst these, wanting to charge $5 per month to suspend the membership, and tried to tell members to read their contract. I think enough people pulled their membership, and complained about this provision, that another email went out - too late for my brother to continue his membership, but another email, saying that they would not be charging for the membership suspension afterall. But it took at least 3 days for them to change their stance. My other brother's gym just said that not only would all memberships be suspended during any and all lockdowns, but members would be give an equal number of days added to their current paid memberships period, free of charge.
One just didn't want to lose the cash flow in the moment. The other recognised that they needed to hold onto as many of those members as possible, so that after the lockdowns ended, they would already have the same, if not similar member numbers. amazing the difference a fit of forethought made to these gyms during the lockdown situation.
for the last story, money is the neighbour knows there in the wrong but jumping to lawyers sort of says they may have done it to other neighbours

Yes, the *cough* ANYTIME gym franchise can be very shady with their contracts. When my Dad tried to cancel with them, they kept charging his account and claimed that the contract he signed wasn't a "membership", it was a "LOAN" that he had to "pay back" for the remainder of his contract regardless of his use of the facility.
*Story 2:* Why did these parents refuse to remind OP of the infant in the house? Why did they not feel she needed to know of the baby's existence? What if a fire broke out in the house and she had to evac everyone who was in the house, you don't know about the baby until everyone else is evacuated. Something awful might've happened to the baby and you would feel awful, since you didn't save the baby's life. Talk about irresponsible parents!

Don't ever do the cat food sandwich thing in the US. That's not something you can plausibly say you'd actually eat for lunch and can land you criminal charges. Go with something super spicy but make sure it's something you can handle eating if you're ever in that situation.
Story 6: These neighbors are being jerks just for the sake of being jerks.
Omg the gym thing! I had to move across country. I told the gym i belonged to that I would be cancelling my contract. Law says a 25 mile move from a gym is sufficient to break contract. I moved over 2500! This was a local gym not a nationwide chain.
They accused me of lying about the move. I took a screenshot of my new ID. They said I had to come in to gym physically to cancel. I had not cancelled before I left because they were closed due to COVID.
I lost my shit! Transfered my money to a new account, let my bank know why and gave them copies of my letter to cancel my gym membership due to a move. Dared gym to sue me.

I live in California the story about the gym happened to me. Long story short exact issue but with Six Flags Magic Mountain. Stupid process of having to write a letter to cancel is ridiculous
fun fact. i like to always put on am i the jerk videos when im doing stuff around the house like chores or dishes and also to track the time that it takes cuz i know one video is 20 minutes so that's cool.

24 Hour Fitness pulled that crap with me too. Tried to cancel was told to do it by mail. Then got a correspondence saying they don't cancel by mail call this number. Called to cancel and was told go in person to cancel then send a request by mail. Now mind you Everything was locked down. So couldn't cancel in person. Had to threaten a lawsuit to get them to cancel. But they got me for $300 by the time it was all said and done.

If so, it's even worse because they'd be using religion to justify hating someone they don't even know based solely on a single superficial aspect.

For the lunch thief. I have had this happen, I found that Dave's Insanity Sause a really hot hot sauce on my peanut butter and jelly sandwich showed me who was stealing my lunch. Water doesn't work with this stuff it makes it worse
Third story, I can relate regarding gym membership. I was a member of a gym known to serve pizza to its members. I used a prepaid card for my membership dues, and when the contract ended I didn’t renew. Although I thought I had closed my membership, even got a notarized affidavit stating I would not be responsible for any dues and had my membership rep sign in in front of the notary for him to stamp (along with the cancellation form), the gym tried to keep billing me.
They started calling me a month later about my declined card payment, I told them the situation and they claimed I had never cancelled and was still with them. I told them it wasn’t the case. It wasn’t until they threatened to send me to collections that I contacted the main HQ via email, showing them the notarized affidavit via scanning along with the cancellation form in the email attachments and told them I would see them in court if they sent me to collections.
The phone calls stopped, as did the attempt to draw from the now closed prepaid account. I never got sent to collections.
TL/DR: Had a prepaid card for my gym membership dues payment method, had my membership cancellation form and an affidavit stating I’m not responsible for any additional costs to said gym after a date of my gym membership expired, both signed and notarized by myself and gym membership rep. Gym tried to bill me and send me to collections after I ended my membership, I scanned and email attached my notarized cancellation form and affidavit to corporate, threatened them with legal action if they sent me to collections. Gym left me alone.
The restaurant TOOK the money. O.P. Is naive if she thinks that they went out of their way. They hung up on her initially (guilt). They refused to let her see the video ( incriminating). Her boss (an attorney ) called them. He told them you can either produce the envelope with every cent in tact, or we can have the police come and force you show them the video. We will have our answer then. Your choice. Miraculously the envelope shows up. I noticed she didn’t mention the envelope being covered in filth. Isn’t THAT amazing, yet it was in a restaurant dumpster. Yes this is my area of expertise.
Planet fitness has been charging me for along time … I’m thinking of just closing my bank account

had a similar event at a previous job, for 2 months it had been happening I was at my wits end about it, no one knew that I eat spicy shit religiously and I mean Carolina reaper and ghost pepper extract sauces but I didn't bring food like that for lunch at work cause it stinks to high heaven, I made a burrito and lit that damn thing up with sauce but I also smothered it in spicy home-made nacho cheese sauce, anyway I put it in the fridge at work and went to work, lunch came around and my food was gone so I left to get some Arby's next door, on my way back I was passed by an ambulance heading to my job, I found out my boss was the one eating my food, apparently he doesn't eat at home and only eats at lunch at work, he scarfed down my burrito so fast he couldn't taste the hotsauce I put in it, and he started sweating, coughing and throwing up, through his mouth,,, and nose and because he has the spice tolerance of a new-born baby, the cashier called an ambulance and away he went, I made the same burrito the next day and I heated it up and cut it in half so he could smell it and the look in his eyes recognized the smell, and he watched me eat it after I drowned it in the Carolina reaper and ghost pepper extract hot sauce and he watched me eat it at a snails pace without reacting to it or even reaching for my drink, he never stole my lunch or anyone elses again 🤣🤣🤣

OMG, I thought us Brits ( which includes Scotland) weren't that bigotted. Lady missing the bonus, if she hadnt got the money back, I'd have called the police.
