The narrator has a bad take on the Lexi story, you can’t just dump your child on someone because you have a social event planned, and then ignore every call when they try to reach you, I would’ve sent the same text.

Man, the narrator of this one has some weird hot-takes in both story 5 and 6. At the core both of these stories involve people having their consent violated. The first one being tricked into a date they didn't want and the second one someone getting a kid dumped upon them so the mom can go party.

Packing story: That business trip might not have been that important because if it was, the husband could have switched to another flight, even if he was late the 1st day, he could catch up in the...you know...13 days left of it. If it was important & he decided not to go, it means he is an immature idiot who just wanted to spite his wife. There's no logic in the husband's reasoning at all.

Lexi is the only jerk in her story.
Regardless of what OP was doing that day, she declined to babysit. That should have been the final word.
Lexi lied to the cleaner and, basically, abandoned Bella and, when confronted with her nonsense, Lexi tried every manipulative tactic in the world to get people on her side of the argument, despite being flat-out wrong.
Threatening to call the police/CPS is ALWAYS the right call in these situations, lest you be inundated with babysitting demands as, clearly, people like Lexi have no problems taking advantage to the weak-willed.
She doesn't deserve to have children, if she treats them as an inconvenience that she can palm off to whoever.

Haha that soy sauce/fruit fly one happened to me too. I was eating in the dark dining room (my kitchen sheds a little light into my dining room). I was also eating ramen (instant) and poured some soy sauce (similar to the one mentioned) and the bottle was almost empty. This is one of those moments when I didn't have a phone in my hand so I was reading the soy sauce bottle, I shifted the bottle and saw something left at the bottom. I went and found my phone (still didn't want to turn the lights on) used the flash to light up the bottom and see lots of fruit flies dead at the bottom.... Finally turned the lights on in the dinning room and saw dead fruit flies swimming in my noodles. I dumped both into the trash, glassware be darned

I'll go find her...watch my kids...3 more. I'm thinking only an hour like she said. So the 2 hours come and go....3 days later neither of them showed up. So I called the police. The police managed to get the sister to come and get her kids. The neighbor knocked on my door a full week later with some flimsy excuse and wanted to know where her kids were...I said, "you have to call child authority....here's the number." I'm not ace myself but I've known people who are and that is literally the most disrespectful thing you can do to an ace person is trying to pair them with someone and then guilt them into it because "they need a special someone" or "they're missing out." Even if OP isn't ace, that's horribly rude. It's one of the biggest insults imo to do that when they've made it clear they aren't interested. Sooooo many people think something is wrong with aromantic people because they aren't interested and that's "sad" so these people feel the need to "fix" it. For story 5 the narrator came off condescending and while may not be malicious, seemed to imply a bit that someone can only be happy if theyre with someone else, which is just blatantly bullshit. For story 6, it does not matter what the OP was doing, whether they were busy as all hell or were just lazing around the house, you do not get to just drop your kid off despite already being told no. If you're that desperate to go the social event hire an ACTUAL babysitter. I would've threatened to call the police too for child abandonment because OP already told her no and she wasnt picking up the phone when OP called. Like did the reader just told a full grown adult that they don't know what they actually want cuz relationship=good? Like imagine if he told a lesbian actually you should go on a date with a man cuz you've never had a relationship with one and you might like it. And as someone in both the Assexual and Aromantic spectrums and with plenty of friends on both I can guarantee you that: A: You can absolutely not ever want a relationship; B: Not everyone is happier in a repationship and C: It's just as messed up to tell someone that they don't know what they actually like about wanting a repationship as it would be to tell someone that they dont know what they actually like about which gender they are atracted to.

the bella/lexy situation here - i gotta disagree again. BOUNDARIES ARE IMPORTANT. The mom is entitled. She knew in advance that the kid was going to be out of school. She could have gotten a sitter. she could have had a friend she actually knows watch the kid. INSTEAD she lies and manipulates her way into dropping the kid off and only responds to multiple attempts to contact her after being threatened with the police. That is straight up entitled behavior. Being a single mom doesn't mean a dang thing. AND she's not actually single. she has a BF - OP's brother. Why isn't he watching the kid? or paying for a sitter? instead, she tried to manipulate and emotionally blackmail op. not cool.
it doesn't matter if she has cleaners and in-home spa treatments. that's OP's choice. it doesn't mean she's required to care for someone else's kid without a pre-arranged agreement. We have no idea what else she had planned for the afternoon. Maybe she was getting the treatment so she could go on a date night with her husband and wasn't going to be home. Would she be obligated to pay for the babysitting of two kids? No. No she would not.
Did you catch that the kid now thinks OP "doesn't like her". That's 100% the mom. not "mommy dropped you off without their agreement, so we have to figure something out". No. it's "OP wouldn't let mommy stomp all over her boundaries and manipulate her with my toxic bs, so OP doesn't like you". She's poisoning her kid against this OP and making OP out to be the bad guy to her kid when it's all the mom doing this. what a toxic horrible woman.
OP is 100% in the right to say no. Could she have given in and "argued about it after". Sure....but given the lies and manipulation of the mom, this would have happened again. and again. How many non-consensual babysitting gigs does it require to threaten the cops? two? five? twenty? Better to draw a line now. And she didn't say she would never watch the kid. Just that she hadn't agreed to this session. Truthful and reasonable.

What’s a blind date story the family was completely out of line there are tons of people who live happy lives who never find a significant other let alone want one yeah for some people they can make you happier but they also need to understand that she doesn’t place importance and love she place is it elsewhere and that’s completely fine and if she Does finding something then it should be on her terms and she should at least know she’s going on a date and not just expect her family members to bombard her with single guys

I’m with the OP on the gf dumping her daughter off on her. She told her NO. No is No! Doesn’t matter if she had something planned or not. As for the woman Lexi lack of planning on her part does not constitute and emergency on the OP’s part.
I had an instructor in college that had a neighbor ask her to watch her kids for a few hours. They called from the airport and said they would be back in Two Weeks!! They lived in Ohio but had flown to California. They abandoned their 4 kids on an unsuspecting neighbor!!! I told the instructor that I would have called the police. She said she wished she had thought of it.
I would have in this case as well.

Some people are asexual and some people are aromantic and if they don't want to date, it should be respected. If you spring a date on someone without thier consent, don't expect that person to treat it like a date. I don't date. The fastest way make me leave is to display sexual or romantic interest. I would not be happy with anyone who blatantly disrespected my wishes.
When it comes to minding another person's child under those circumstances, the child has been abandoned. The person who might become a sister in law should be expected to respect boundaries. Dropping a child off with the person who has been hired to clean the house is irresponsible parenting. It is not ops responsibility to

I really don’t agree with your take
The op could just be waiting to date but an other thing could that the op is aromatic so all the stuff with “not knowing how much happier you could be” really rubs me the wrong way
Especially with op saying she never been interested in a romantic relationship op could be aromatic

I cannot agree with the narrator about the blind date. Regardless of the parents and siblings belief about relationships bringing happiness, they should have respected OP's choices of not being interested in dating. Pretty sure OP is Ace and the family has no right to try and force them to do something they don't want. OP not the jerk, family however is very much the jerks.
