Story 3: How is the wife the Jerk in that situation? If I heard that correctly, if she had simply let the venue hold on to left behind items as collateral and let the bank deliver the check on Monday, it wouldn't have mattered. I'd be pissed off, too.
OP should of double checked with the bank first to make sure they would of processed it on time. It is not the business’ fault that OP did not do this, chose a Saturday, and chose a venue 200 miles away. All of those decisions OP made, that makes handling these matters harder, is on OP.
Or done a money order and brought it to the wedding then it would have been fine.
I agree, but what the guys says urcked me the wrong way. “Saturdays are not a business day for banks” DUDE MY BANK IS OPENED ON SATURDAY TILL NOON! I’ve seen banks open on weekends except Sunday ( kept thinking it’s because of it being a church day as a kid ) and even so some banks are open on Saturday for business.
I restarted the wedding story from the start and played close attention to it.
It seems like the first two payments went through fine and the bride had a confirmation from her bank that the final check would arrive the day of the wedding. It was only the day after the wedding that she found out it didn't go out yet and instead would be the next day. That is on the bank IMO. Then the venue had her run around and get a physical check only to then say that they wouldn't cash it until the day after the bank said it would be sent.
I don't think the OP was a jerk at all to be annoyed. It was the day after her WEDDING and she couldn't spend it celebrating with her new husband when it all would have worked out if nothing was done.
So it'd be:
Saturday - wedding, day the check was supposed to be sent according to the bank
Sunday - Venue says they didn't get it and the bank notification says a different day
Monday - When the bank would send the check
Tuesday - When the venue was going to cash the check regardless
I can understand why the bank didn't deliver it on Saturday as banks usually only operate during the work week, but the bank did tell OP that the check would be delivered on Saturday, only to then change it to Monday without her knowledge. So I don't agree with the narrator at all on that one.

Story 3: Need more info because what was the vendor going to withhold that couldn't wait until Monday when the check came to be released? The bride's grandma? Zelle would've allowed them to get the money straight to their account immediately. If the items to be withheld were something I could do without for a short period of time, I simply would've let them withhold it until they received the check one day later. Yes, the bride could've brought a check to the venue and likely would have if the vendor stipulated that they wouldn't render the services without payment on the wedding day. However I don't think it's a huge deal for the check to come in one day past the deadline, especially if they refuse any other payment methods that would get to their account instantly and they're not making a deposit run until Tuesday. The money is hitting their account at the same time whether they got that piece of paper on Sunday or Monday.
i feel bad for the Asian couple after the racist karens keep on reporting them when they just moved here so congrats on op for doing his part to make sure there's justice for the asians.

Story 3: How is the OP the jerk?! She was sending in the check and spent the entire day rushing around her town just to give them the paper check, because the Vendor wouldn’t accept anything that is digital! Definitely NTJ. It’s very frustrating to be running around, trying to deliver something intime, and when you do, you relise it’s not going to be used or even TOUCHED until a few days later. Like, Seriously? She didn’t even shout at the manager either! I would honestly be fuming. Props to the OP for not blowing up in his face.
The wedding check. While there is indeed an obligation to pay for services rendered, it seems unreasonable to refuse methods of immediate payment to demand a check, especially ON the wedding day, from someone who lives out of town. Many people today do not even have a checking account. Even if this demand was made ahead of time, what does the venue think they will get and be able to spend from an out-of-town check on a weekend? Surely this isn't the first time the venue has encountered a similar issue, so why don't they have clear rules in place regarding payment?
One of the issues is that there is a cap that Zelle will allow most people to send per day if you aren't a business and it is like $1500 so she'd have to do 10 transfers to get the venue the money. I don't think it would be reasonable to force the venue to wait almost 2 weeks to get all their money when doing a money order and bringing that/those to the wedding and paying that day. Most businesses will take a money order in lieu of a check
So by your logic in story 3 i should tell my boss thay I'm not going to work if payday falls on a bank holiday and my paycheck is late by a day because they need to pay me for services rendered?

Story 3: Why would anyone use checks as payment, that has not been a valid payment method the last 20 years, it must be a very old story
Tbh people (usually older generations, obviously) can be hella weird about checks. Just a few years ago the family I nannied for paid me w/checks. Plus they mention Venmo or Zelle which are new-ish payment methods. I think it’s wild to refuse payment over those methods vs. a check tho.

Story 3 - No. The vendor was an ass. If they're not going to cash it for days anyway then they can wait. And NO they can't just cash the check whenever they want. People like that are SERIOUSLY irritating. It can throw off the person's expenses assuming that a check has been cashed when it hasn't. Cash it when you're supposed to or its getting canceled.
That would be fraud if you wrote a check then canceled it. They can use money orders instead and then it is up to the business to cash them but the money is out of their account.

For Story 2: I was bullied a lot as a kid especially in Elementary School. Funnily enough I met one of my oldest friends because I was bullied. An older student was making fun of me and my friend stepped in and told the bully to back off. Most of the reasons why I was bullied in Elementary School was because my mom was one of the teachers.

You calling the bride the jerk is wild. There's a literal confirmation number that the person she was dealing with could've looked at, considering, you know. She sent the confirmation number.
Also hope you're not in a relationship if you think someone who's in a rut is a red flag because they can't afford to pay child support for their kids. Dude literally needed help to get back on his feet basically. Which means he probably can't even afford to pay child support. If dude can't even pay his own bills, he can't pay child support for a child that's out of state. Lot of people need to remember that the parent paying child support need to survive too. Seen it too often where the primary parent will take the other parent for all they're worth, and leave them with absolutely nothing to survive.

On the last one, it's a big IF. If she asked the guy, "Do you have kids?" and he said no, then big red flag. If that topic hadn't come up yet? Then it could be that he isn't comfortable with discussing it yet. He could be lying, sure. Just trying to save face with the whole thing. Or it could be that he knew how bad it looked and wasn't going to mention it yet. At least until he knew her better or it was sorted.
I feel iffy about that as well. It sounded like it was early in the relationship, and you don't want to drop too much personal information on the first few dates. Him bringing up a complicated situation regarding children from other relationships can be too much for the potential partner that early in the game.

No. The check was a virtual check. Banks do not process them on the weekends. Payment was do and paid day of the wedding. So it wasn't late. It was paid on time. It just how electronic banking works.

Ooo narrator, you got a lot of people going against you on your take on the wedding check story, and personally i gotta say i agree with them. That poor woman shouldnt have had to go through that the day after her wedding. That whole situation had the potential to sour what was literally supposed to be one of the OP's happiest days of her life, and the way shes telling us about it kinda sounds like it did which is...really sad.

I kinda disagree with you on the bully story. I mean from what the OP said, I think it is overexaggerated and that he does trouble the OP but he is not A HUGE BULLY as you put it. I definitely think there are holes in this story and that, what we think is bully is just his way of actually showing friendship (except the pencil throwing part and about the hugging thing), and that the bully is just trying to be actually friendly but the OP just has a bad view of him and always sees him as a bully

Last story: So my response really depends on the longevity of a relationship regarding the sharing of private information.
If OP and Anthony were together for idk lets say 4 months total then sure he should of told her. It is extremely important and he had 4 months to vet out if she is someone he is interested in and/or someone who would blurt out that info.
If it is only been a month or two total then no anthony didnt do anything wrong. There *is* such a thing as oversharing and while some information is really serious it is for that reason it should be kept.
Now I do not think OP is the jerk for her reaction. It is very jarring to get information that way. Also dating anyone with kids is a big ask.
However, I do think it is wrong for the guy to hold information while initially getting to know/used to OP.
They met in February, started dating in April, this event happened in May. I think it's perfectly within reason that he hadn't brought up the kids in that short window of time. He only just started to get back on his feet. He said once he was he was able to he was going to go back to supporting them. He couldn't have had a job for more than a month or so at this point since OP said they helped him get one, not near enough time to get enough paychecks to cover his own back bills and start sending support checks.
OP seems like the kind of person that isn't emotionally mature enough to be in a relationship. They broke up in October from an abusive 3 year relationship and by May of the next year they are dating someone else that they've already introduced to their family? That screams of codependency issues.
