    Just to provide some additional context to some of your criticisms:
    The small frunk is a result of the Kia's low, sloping bonnet and extremely short overhangs. An EV-only styling choice that also makes the car physically more compact. The Tesla has much longer overhangs (a result of modelling their proportions after premium ICE cars) which is space that Tesla uses for their frunk and rear underfloor storage. In order to have a frunk comparable to the Model Y, the EV6 would either need larger exterior dimensions, or Kia could shorten the wheelbase providing less passenger space (and you stated rear seat space as something you love about the car). RWD models overseas do have a significantly larger and more useful frunk, but regs require lighting and an escape mechanism, so US cars miss out.
    Regarding Carplay, all the necessary hardware is present for wireless connectivity, however a licensing issue (something to do with the factory navigation system) prevents Kia from enabling the feature. Hopefully it can be resolved and activated in the future. On the plus side, offering wired Carplay/Android Auto is better than nothing (*cough* Tesla *cough*).
    On the parking sensor issue, have you tried disabling Sentry Mode on the Tesla to see if it is indeed interfering with the EV6's sensors? Or maybe even running an experiment in which you have the EV6 in reverse, but not moving, so the sensors are active, then have someone in the MY attempt to reverse up to the EV6 to see if the MY also experiences issues?

      partly correct but Kia have Europe RWD model front much bigger, almost as big as model 3. big in the US, you get all the empty space below. Some guy on youtube open the cover and you can fit a walmart box in there for RWD model. The reason? cut cost, Hyundai/kia do not want to put a latch release in there for US law.
      For carplay, Kia hire to make this 12.3 inch display UI only in recent year, they just want to keep using this OS to makeup the developing cost. Do you remember many Kia/Hyundai model , on the higher end trin which is 12 inch wide screen, you need to use wired carplay, but the lower end 8 inch 16:9 screen, it end up wireless carplay. is that because the cost of extra wifi chip? no, it does not make sense to put wireless carplay into lower trim if cost of wifi chip is a thing. It is the software developed that cost so much.

    Yeah, dings are terrible. In past years I've owned a beautiful corvette and a beautiful Trans Am that I drove mostly on weekends and of course on date nights. Anyway, I always parked in areas where the parking lot was mostly empty to avoid dings and since I was wasn't in a hurry I didn't mind walking a little further. Just a safety tip ladies. If at night you're parked further away from the store doors than normal, just ask for an employee to escort you to your car if it's possible. By the way, nice pedi. Gr8 vid as usual, Shannon. 🌺🚙 🇺🇸

    Hi, Shannon. I have a suggestion for you based on my experience with my wrapped MY. Rather than just pulling off the wrap from the damaged rear door, get some extra wrap and try to do a patch. Then you can see how it looks and decide whether it is "good enough" or you still want to go the door rewrap. I did this on Electric Blue and it worked like a charm! Would make for an interesting video, BTW. Best Regards to you and the Js.

    I’ve been having problems with apple car play cut freezing since the last iPhone update. I travel for my job and it doesn’t seem to care what make or model car I’m driving Like you I tried changing adapter cables with no luck
    The only fix I found that works is either reboot I got my phone or unplugging and re plugging the phone

  • @evatrics5902

    I noticed your aftermarket cable to your phone. I have tried all of the "heavy duty cables" with CarPlay and have experienced the problems that you have talked about. I switched back the the thin thin little Apple cables made by Apple that comes with your Apple phone and they work perfectly. I have had zero problems on my Ioniq 5, since switching to the Apple cables.

    I think the automatic braking has to do with the ultrasonic sensors on the EV6 picking up ultrasonic signals from the idle Tesla (maybe because sentry or dashcam is enables). In my mind, I think of it like this: the EV6 parking sensor "invisible waves" are colliding with the "invisible waves" being put out by the tesla, thus the EV6 thinks that there is an obstacle closer than there actually is.

      Most people I attack to with Tesla and several others. Is the lack of apple carplay.
      In the uk ford don’t have the PAAK enabled due to some law(maybe an excuse as it just seems like the biggest issue in the us)
      Screen issue isn’t a thing here either.
      They have a. New sketch up app for handwriting notes and introduced the power button held down puts the screen to sleep.
      As you’ve said boot cover is terrible but otherwise I’m loving mine and 10k miles in.

      They both had/have CarPlay issues but the main thing about the Mach-E is how often it had to go in for service and receiving the “stop safely now” message. Infotainment features are annoying but the Mach-E’s problems eventually came to a point in being unreliable that was unsafe especially knowing I had a young child in there as well.

      @@EVandChill Yeah I think your Mach-E needed some updates. Ford has worked out most of the early bugs people were experiencing. PAAK is still a bit unreliable, but everything else seems good now. I love the Bluecruise!

    I really like the round blind spot cameras popping up in both the EV6 and Ioniq 5. They're much better than Tesla's sole square display for both left and right, which irks me enough that I don't use it. I think the Ioniq 5 has something of a "bucket" behind the cup holders and under the armrest, doesn't it? Not so hidden, but it does give some space for junk, bottles, a purse, etc. I'm perplexed that Kia hasn't updated the pre-conditioning of the battery when heading to a DCFC. I think Hyundai has done that…? With regen, I think every EV should just have i-pedal, and forget the different "levels." Does the EV6 slam on the brakes when backing toward the garage, or just toward the Tesla… because it has headlights…? I've never used AppleCarPlay, but I do NOT like Tesla's UI v11. Ugh. Change of subject: I think it's fun to see that the summer sun is bringing out a few more freckles for you, Shannon. Enjoy!

    • @EVandChill
      @EVandChill  2 года назад +1

      Yeah I do wish Tesla would give us the ability to move the blind spot camera view to a dif location on the screen. I find that my hands in get in the way of being able to fully see the picture.
      It only slams on the brakes when backing up towards the Tesla. Initially I though it was picking up the Tesla’s ultrasonic sensors or something and slamming on the brakes but I’ve also backed up plenty of cars right up to the Tesla with no issues as well. I think it just hates RLD lol.

    Maybe OTA will fix that frunk issue. 😃 🤪

  • @williamwu1985
    @williamwu1985 Год назад +2

    I want to add more here.
    1, No true OTA update, only the headunit UI and GPS map can be OTA, and they advertise as OTA capable. How is that acceptable.
    2, not even it does not have preconditioning, the RWD model does not have battery heater. make winter charge 4 times long below 35 degree. I am not even talking about very cold here. I know all EV charge slower in winter, but charge 4 times slower then advertise this as 18 mins. there is a huge gap and expectation lost.
    3, sunroof is crap. a tiny sunroof taking a huge amount of headroom. if you want to save money, then dont bother to put one in. or use ioniq 5's sunroof which is much better.
    4, 12v battery still very easy to die, I have many EV6 and ioniq 5 owner complain their 12v dead at first year. Tested myself that USB and head unit still draw power 20 mins after lock. could just use a lithium battery to keep it life time like tesla
    5. no digital key... come on , even ford has one, even it is not good, it still toward to the direction. I heard Apple will add their car key list to Hyundai/kia, but no currect model support because there is no true OTA here...
    6. Kia have Europe RWD model front much bigger, almost as big as model 3. big in the US, you get all the empty space below. Some guy on youtube open the cover and you can fit a walmart box in there for RWD model. The reason? cut cost, Hyundai/kia do not want to put a latch release in there for US law
    7, For carplay, Kia hire to make this 12.3 inch display UI only in recent year, they just want to keep using this OS to makeup the developing cost. It is the software developed that cost so much
    8, semi automatic drive need a million buttons to operate. Really? 4 different functions keys plus + and -
    I test this out, EV6 has the ability to match tesla autopilot in semi highway with traffic light. But all those buttons, my wife never use this assistant feature. I showed her many times, she still refuse to use. If people don't use it, is that waste of money/budge to put it there? This could be one of the best advertise feature.
    You may think I am aggressive, but for so call best EV in the market even than tesla. Well Tesla has its own problem, build quality, firm ride, service slow, etc. But this EV 6 is not award winning. This is much better than their Gas counterpart, but still far away from Tesla, Rvian.

    • @amperformance7998
      @amperformance7998 2 года назад +3

      The small frunk is a combination of factors. Primarily it is because of the EV6's low, sloping bonnet and extremely short front overhang (much shorter than Tesla's), a feature that contributes to the car's unique EV-only style while also making it physically more compact (a model Y won't fit in my garage, but an EV6 will), but it also means there is little space for a frunk. RWD models overseas do have a significantly larger frunk, however because of regs requiring a light and an escape mechanism for any enclosed storage areas over a certain size, US models miss out on the bigger frunk.
