      I will just say, the KIA wasn't my first choice on looks and dedicated EV build, the IONIQ 5 was that. BUT, Carwow in the UK did a range test and the KIA went another 30 odd miles compared to the IONIQ 5 and they both share the same kit, one is like a brick, the other is a sleeker design. So yeah, KIA get's me.

    Honestly, i hate touch controls in cars for commonly used things. My parent almost drive off the road in their car trying to turn down the heat. Touch controls are distracting and take drivers eyes off the road for no reason. I love 2019 civic hatchback and specifically didn't get the sport version cause it had touch radio controls. Imo it is much safer to have analog buttons that you can feel for and easy use.

      I have a 2017 Civic and am going to "upgrade" the climate control panel because for some reason, the Touring trim has far less function. They relegated fan speed control to touch screen FFS, but the lower trim model has full physical controls.

    I found it kinda sad that the whole charging situation was just an abstract "it's not a Tesla, lol", while the 800V system of E-GMP in the EV6 and IONIQ5 with (afaik) measured 234kW DC peak and a pretty good charge curve (unless you hit the charger with a snowy-wintery-cold battery, which will be fixed in a software update) is crazy and currently only matched by the Porsche Taycan. Might be that in Canada the cargers aren't really there yet, but please consider that viewers might also come from other parts of the world (or the future) with a working HPC network. As an European example, when I am driving long range between Austria and Germany, most of the chargers I need to stop at could already deliver 350kW DC - and I drive the OG 2016 Hyundai Ioniq EV, so that's actually a veeeeeery uncomfortable amount of chargers I am stopping at, esp. in winter... 😅

    • @ianrobertson3419
      @ianrobertson3419 2 года назад +4

      The tesla fan club keeps pushing on "the chargers" to try and dissuade people from buying anything but a poorly made tesla. I have a 200kw station 2km's from me if i ever need it and there are many other networks available. I had no idea until last year when i started to research an EV purchase. There's a chain in Canada that has chargers every 250km or less and some of them are even 350kw. I ordered a top spec Ioniq5, won't see it for a year though :( .

    • @tbnzet
      @tbnzet 2 года назад +2

      @@ianrobertson3419 Well, it's equally annoying when people are just stating that a Tesla's are "poorly made" without probably having any experience with them. I've had a Model 3 for 2.5 years now, without a single issue. And since there's no required service interval, I haven't even been at Tesla since I bought it. Interior still feels and looks like new, and doesn't have small squeaks like my previous BMW. I like the Ioniq 5 and EV6, but the control/UI issues mentioned in the video would kinda keep me from buying it. Well, if I needed the bigger tailgate I would get one of them, since I don't fancy the Model Y looks.

    • @WyandWombat
      @WyandWombat 2 года назад

      Yeah, I think the charging capabilities of these cars shouldn't be underestimated. The 18 minutes from 10 to 80% figure is quite the statement on the current market. Combined with the range this means you can very practically us this car without having a charger at home.
      I can own this car, hit a DC charger two or three times a month for 10-15 minutes and keep it in my plugless rental garage instead of having to regularly leave it for hours at a public AC charger. I could do the same with a bunch of other EVs, but those 2-3 charger stops per month would be more like half an hour or more, which makes a difference in general convenience.
      The Hyundai/Kia EVs are getting to the point where you can operate them just like any conventional ICE car, which is mostly relevant for people that don't own a house. I guess owning a house is rather common in north america. In europe, that's quite a different story though.

    • @tbnzet
      @tbnzet 2 года назад +1

      @@WyandWombat It is impressive, but the stated 18 minutes is under optimal conditions with battery temperature at just the right level. It's very hard to achieve in the real world, and especially in cold weather it will charge much slower. Also, if the battery is too hot it will throttle, as it doesn't seem to have that much cooling capacity. Anyway, both BMW i4/iX3, and Model 3/Y all charge from 10-80% in around 20 minutes in similar good conditions. So really, there's little difference.
      Another thing is that EV6/Ioniq 5 supposedly haven't launched with active pre-heating of the battery, which makes them worse when the battery is not warm. But I'm sure Kia/Hyundai will update them with that if they haven't already.

    • @WyandWombat
      @WyandWombat 2 года назад

      @@tbnzet The information you gave on the other vehicles is not true. Both BMWs need at least half an hour to DC-Charge from 10 to 80%. The same is true for the Tesla Model Y and the Model 3 still needs at least 25 minutes for that.
      So with the exception of the Model 3, the hyundai groups platform is pretty much twice as fast.
      While it is correct that the EV6 and Ioniq5 did not launch with active pre-conditioning and only start up their heat management once they are connected to a charger, there is a software update on its way to solve this and the model year 2023 will have that feature from the get go.

    It’s strange how companies making new EVs or just normal cars at this point are seemingly going backwards. The UIs look nice enough, but they are less functional. For example, Audi, for the longest time they had a pretty decent infotainment system that had a look that stayed fairly consistent over almost 10 years, it never looked the most modern but it was very functional. Most companies have had drive modes figured out for years to a basic degree at least and it seems like they all forgot how to do things correctly.

    Okay. I have an ev6 wind AWD ive never accidentally hit any of the seat heating or cooling functions. The display behind the steering wheel could have been a bit better. I had to adjust the seat and the wheel to fully see the display. Im 5"9 so it wasn't to bad for me. Taller people may have more problem's. You have an electronic child lock on the driver side door wich is nice if you have small kids. You also have two front seat profiles so you and your partner can get the perfect seating position and not have to worry about changing mirrors or adjusting the seat everytime you switch seat's. Overall im happy with the car. The heating and audio control switching isnt that bad. I normally just use my steering wheel to control the audio and i leave my heating on auto climate. Oh, one last thing. To use the key to move the car you have to get out with the car off lock it the turn it on with the remote start then you can move it. It kinda annoying. It dosnt take long only about 15 20 seconds but its a wait thats not needed. Probably something they can change in an update hopefully. Also you can lock the door from the outside if its on. I own an EV6 and I agree on some points, but I feel like you're overly focused on finding little niggles this car has. You're not focusing enough on:
    A) How great the range is.
    B) How well it drives.
    C) How great it looks.
    All this for a very competitive price, especially if you're taking mid- or entry level trim. Overall it's a really strong package.
    A lot of the stuff you complain about is mostly because you haven't had enough time with the car or used to something else. Like the media controls and A/C sharing the same screen is completely fine. You can use the media controls on the steering wheel or on the main touch screen and just leave it on A/C if it bothers you.
    The ride quality being harsh I disagree with, it's better than in Teslas, for example. The suspension is sporty but it's definitely not harsh. Maybe your tires are over inflated? Sweet spot is ~35 psi.
    Driving in i-Pedal mode is not optimal outside stop-and-go city traffic, you get more range by coasting. Which is probably the car changes it when you're driving on long winding roads.
    Car needs to be locked in order to use the summon feature. It works, I use it all the time.

In this case it starts with the reviewer trying to make a big deal "5 hours" to store the hatch cover when it takes 15 seconds and goes on through how to activate/deactivate the child locks from the drivers seat (it is the standard child window lock button on the driver's door). Most other brands do not even have this feature and you have to do it manually. The water bottle thing is simply that you leave the phone in its wireless slot. Thanks for the review. My own mini review: I have had this car since November, and while I think it has plenty of weird quirks, it is mostly positive. A few pointers from my own situation.
    In my driving position the steering wheel doesn't cover anything that he mentioned, I got used to the climate/audio situation in a few days,
    About the Tesla thing: i appreciate that the car is more comfortable and quiet than a model 3/Y, and on top of that the EV6 is about 5-10K euro cheaper than a model Y where I live. This is comparing top trim vs "base" model y. Add a color, nicer wheels and enhanced auto pilot (no auto cancelling lane changes nonsense) and you have a car that is 10-15 K more expensive, noisier and less comfortable. Not to be overlooked.
    A few other things I like: I appreciate the seats being heated, ventilated and alcantara, which is exceedingly rare in the car industry (by far the most ventilated seats are leather, which I dislike), excellent cameras, decent drive assists, good room for the sporty looks, not super tall unlike most cars nowadays, excellent charging speed (230-250 kW up to 50%) which leads the car industry for avg charging speeds, good performance, decent range, unique looks, ride that is a bit firm but never harsh or unrefined (IMO), decent sound proofing.

The Meridian sound system is a joke and one of the worst for a premium sound system in a top of the line model.

    I don't understand the hard on for TOUCH SCREEN EVERYTHING!
    Buttons are always better. I hate this trend.

    From 1:55 to 5:03 the Video feels kind of "choppy" (micro stuttering?). I tired watching it in another browser but its the same.

    Sometimes physical buttons is still way better than a touch surface
    especially in a car driving, you'll just bump into all the touch button

    Honestly at this point if you want to be fancy and don't give a shit about cars too much - just get a Tesla. They have THE best EV infrastructure in the US and are at least one generation ahead in the EV game in terms of battery, performance, and software.
    If I were to buy one at nearly 60k, a Tesla model 3/Y is the best choice albeit the looks are subjective.

    Are you sure this model has electronically controlled suspension? I was under the impression that only the GT which comes out at the end of the year has this.

    My problem with so many of these cars is how much touch screen they use. I need some tactile buttons to feel. The touch screens feel like they are trying to get me to not look at the road.

    LMG dedicated car channel when? Feel like you guys are testing the waters by cycling car content across your channels.

    Yeah buy a Tesla they're "better" until you get into a small fender bender and they say the car is totaled even though it's bumper damage and it's still drivable and should be replaceable. I'll stick to EV cars that can easily have parts replaced.

    Weird review tbh. You focused on a lot of the subjective/nitpicky stuff instead of the cars main features. Felt rushed and like you didn’t put enough time into getting to know the car.

    Absolutely detest touch panels in cars...I need to be able to FEEL what I'm using since I can't look away from the road. And yes I have spoken with my wallet on this issue, I ordered my new car based on the fact it has physical buttons. Essential!!

    Just bought one and love it. This car is like alien technology compared to anything I have driven.

    Volume controls/next track are always on your steering wheel so you will not be reaching for them on the dash 90% of the time. Just leave the AC controls displayed.
