Just found your channel and commenting even though 2y ago, but this applies to many of your videos i've watched so far today. Thank you for what you provide, you give us such a great detailed input and information for a legit good setup. You do a great job and its very much appreciated.
Excellent explanation on the differences between the models and how it affects sound quality and SPL. Your discussions are down to earth and easy for novices to understand. Thank you, and keep up the great work.
Whenever I'm deciding on buying a sub you're the go to for straight forward honest opinion, where I'm from I'm getting the L7 8 solo baric at a good price, thanks man 👍🏼👍🏼
For shallow subs I would suggest a very good xmax, heat management, very high sensitivity as well as power handling to get the same output as a larger more efficient driver
It's a worry I have with the ID8 V.4. $ Is there for the IDQ but I've heard the power handling is about the same but enclosure size is different. So on tighter space, I'll try the ID at 300 watts each. Possibly 350.... 🤷♂️
Salute!! I'm sql all day in a budget level lol, two kicker Comp C10s and a 12in kicker round Solobaric classic( ribbed cone style like comps) all rear firing, on power acoustic 2500.
love your videos and finally someone that appreciates 8” subs. I’d love to buy 8” L7Q however, can’t seem to find any. I have a question, what would sound better under 1200watt amp. Two L7T or 1 L7X? Or would 1 L7S be good enough to fill in enough base for inside a boat cabin?
I really love kickers but how much better is the Q Vs. The solo? What’s the db difference in the same size box. I’m thinking of getting the solo but if the Q is way better I’ll get 2 of those instead.
Thank you for this video! I recently purchased a Single 8" L7T 2-Ohm Truck Enclosure for my 2020 Nissan Frontier Crew cab. I have it under the rear seat on the passenger side. The enclosure is a sealed enclosure and I am powering it with a JL Audio RD 900/5. Your enclosures seem to far surpass stock enclosures. Do you think I would benefit by having you build one for my truck for the one 8?
I have a 2 door 2004 Jeep Wrangler. With the rear seat in the car what kind of box would you build for something like this? Because often jeeps have the top off a ported box does not seem to be the route to go. My first thought is a sealed enclosure. And where do you have the sub firing? Down or forward? I wouldn’t think there would be enough room for a horn box, which I would think WOULD be ideal for “throwing” the bass
Are you going to try the new kicker solo X? I know they didn’t make an 8 inch but I bet the 10’s would thump in your truck? What have you heard about them? Do you think they’re going to be really high quality?
I’m working on a can am x3 off-road side by side and wanting a sub for under the seat. There’s not much room for a sizable box and a few company’s offer sub packages that’s almost 900 for box and sub. Most say the jl 10 inch shallow mount is the best sub made for small areas. Any tips
awesome video. what would happen if you loaded the 3 in one box. give each 350 then go up from there. how that sound for a video? or I wanted your opinion, which do they sound better in ported or sealed?
It's coming back to me - finally was able to dig up the 'ol pre 2008 S8L7 manuals and man, that response using a 19.5 inch port opening😂😂 "flat as a pancake" response 40 to 80 hz (even 10 and 12 in versions limped along - little Q even at Fs ) Kicker "finally" upped the Freq range from 100-500 (although above 300 you might need your head examined as voice sounds dumb coming out of any sub). It appears Xmax has also creeped up from 10 to 15 mm or so (not sure Kicker starting 2014 or so tough to find on manual. And your link where an Amazon site posted "online" TS and how the sensitivity derived "solved using Z term where the term not listed" which should cause outrage but it don't as even Kicker knew they had the perfect 8" driver, I can vouch as along as you got a good "box spring" with vent, no need to add extra bass unless you want to see windows break or hair to fly on a ladies head while sitting in passenger seat. For now I am ok with the Q class not being available, as my enclosure has sufficient flame arrestor control and I look forward to following the mfr instructions on "continuously bouncing the driver at Xmax for 4hrs set at 47hz" as to ensure efficient break in for replacemt😂❤
Oh hell Yeah! Thanks for this one big dog🤞🏾 Them L7T 12s hit hard as a mf tho. Hopefully I can fit 2 or 3 Under the seat of my 2014 Toyota tundra double cab. You will definitely be hearing from me in the next couple of days. Baltimore about to be full of MBE shit😂
I’m sure happy you gave me the examples of all of them. For some reason I knew that solo baric is a SPL for some reason cause the bass just sloppy as hell. But I knew that Q class have better SQ than the Solo baric. They all great subs IMO..
want to build me a box for my (4) 12" L7T front facing for my truck under the seat, should i go 2 amps or 1 amp? besides all that, i want to see if you could build me a box for these thin kicker subs, doesnt require a bunch of air space and still rms at 600, hoping they can beat down the block still haha
I have a single cab Chevrolet pick up and I’m really thinking about putting a system in it i’m wanting 2 l7t subs I’ve never heard shallow mount subs in person and I don’t know anybody that has either I was wondering do they hit good
Question brotha: I got the 12” L7S from Best Buy for 386 with a box, but the L7Q was 415$ from Rockville Audio or Ebay. I was willing to pay the difference, but then Kicker said it could be counterfeit if not from Walmart, Best Buy, or a certified Kicker dealer. Did I make the right choice? Do you think the q class from Rockville Audio would be fake? And coming from Skar SDR 12 will I be happy with the L7 solobaric? I had an L7 in 2007. Not sure exactly which model, but I loved it! Hopefully it’s at least that good and I should be happy.
I bought the 10in l7T in a sealed box and I'm not impressed at all. What's the biggest box and tuning it'll handle. It's going in my c6 corvette so there's decent room
Been watching you for a min what do you think of this set up and how loud it might be. Skar rp2000.1 @ 2ohm 2 Kicker L7 Solo 10s 2 ohm @2ohm 4 cubic feet ported box @32hz Going for around 700-800 each
I have 2 L7s 12s in a 6cu ft custom box tuned to 31hz, it seems to drop off at the frequencies I want to feel, will I get better lows with the L7 12 q classes?
@@M.B.Enclosures like it would need to be tuned lower? I used the kicker apps tune calculator and enetered in all the box and port dimensions to figure out the tuning freq and how many actual cubes it was
GREAT VIDEO! Great explanation, examples and analogies! Got my sub for sure! What’s your recommendation for a sub the needs the smallest enclosure? Preferably less than 0.5 cubic feet. Probably sealed enclosure since I’m looking for quality, accurate, punchy bass in a small space. I’m using a Kenwood Exceleron 5 channel amp sending 500w at 2 ohms and 300w at 4 ohms. Thanks man! Finally found somebody who knows what there talking about not trying to just sell me on there own shit. Keep it up bro!

Yeah they hit hard af! But you need 6.4" of mounting depth And 12" to 15" of port area. If you're pressed for space like I am that's a stretch. In my case all of my space is under the seat with only about 6" to 8" in hight and 50" long. 2 12" L7Ts Would be ideal for my application rather than trying to squeeze and not sound good. Those RSG 8s hit hard but the 8Q sounds more impactful.
@@FreeBlackConservative6859 I understand lack of space I'm just giving people the option to notice that it's better subs out there, I know I use to be the same way all I did is buy regular store brands like JL AUDIO and Kicker only if someone told me to look @FI Audio I would have told them they lost their mind know I have 4 Delta 15 and 4 RS platinum 18 in 2 different trucks moving 40k rms in one in the other I'm moving 16k until I break the RS platinum in, even if you choose Skar Audio you're save more money than that

For shallow subs I would suggest a very good xmax, heat management, very high sensitivity as well as power handling to get the same output as a larger more efficient driver
Shallow subs don't take much power, don't have large xmaxx and aren't efficient 😄🤦♂️
Hey if you're still looking don't sleep on the kicker cvts. Very very good sound, and if you run multiples can take power
