I love how Wonka's factory is built up through the entire first half of the movie as this wonderful, exciting, magical place and then the moment they arrive, things just get weird and it spirals into a nightmare.
It is hilarious because when I watched this as a kid this sort of info flew straight over my head. I am an adult now and re-watching some of this stuff I am like, "Hang on some of this is so shady!"

Same here. I would probably react the same way if a bunch of people were crushing me into the wall when I was her age. I do like how later on her father is able to completely agree with one of her statements and isn't an attempt to placate her.
All the other parents worry over the contract, whereas Grandpa Joe encourages Charlie to sign it, telling him they have nothing to lose. Boy, was he ever wrong, as Willy Wonka's angry rant would later on demonstrate.
I mean, Wonka could have taken advantage of the parents’ unwilling to sign the contract so that he could eliminate the children except for Charlie…but then there’d be no test.

In law school this is the Willy Wonka contract. They made us go through it when we were reviewing contract law. Oh so many illegal problems with it. You would never hold up in court it's hilarious just to watch I don't know how many issues I could possibly enumerate. But it's awesome I wonder if there was ever a point in time in any country where this kind of contract really was legal is it sure as hell is it legal now in any state of the US that I know of.
The coat hangers (grabbers) were clever. The contract with small letters at the bottom I thought was hilarious according to Mike Teavee having problems reading the rest near the end. I’m also guessing the door scene was actually an elevator this whole time just to trick the visitors.
I always figured that the weird hallway behind the locked glass door could have been on part of a giant Lazy Susan platform that rotated as soon as they had loaded up and Wonka closed the door. Especially with that hallway room being wedge/pie slice shaped. I could be wrong, though.
My life has felt like walking down this hallway and never quite getting my foot through that tiny door... it's been a long and sticky-footed walk down that hallway...

*Spoiler altert from Wonka Movie *: The contract idea came from when Mrs Scrubitt suckered Wonka with long terms and conditioned and he couldn't read. He simply adapted it when he got the factory albeit less sinisterly and purely for protection.
