Fun fact: The only person who knew about the content of this movie was Gene Wilder. Everybody else didn’t know about the crazy tunnel scene and his singing, so they actually were scared. They didn’t know what the inside of the factory looked like so when they saw it, they really were captivated. And lastly, when Gene had first walked out of the factory and rolled forward, that was their first time meeting him, so they were pretty confused. All of their reactions are actually genuine in this movie.
I feel like this scene perfectly sums up the human mind. A lot of the fears and restless thoughts people have are unnecessary and out of touch with reality. But, if you were to just stop, breathe and take a step back, a lot of things are actually not as bad or serious and we make it out to be. Charlie and his grandpa had a more relaxed mind and had a different experience than everyone else who was panicking.
”There's no earthly way of knowing Which direction we are going” Uncertainty is inherently scary. When anything's possible, our minds assume the worst. But yeah, we don't have to do that.
Wow the chicken being decapitated really scared me as a kid, it also upset me as well because at the time, I watched this movie, i was 7 years old and I actually had pet chickens of my own at the time, I loved chickens so much, so seeing one of my favourite animals literally get killed on screen was a rather messed up experience
Bro, even though a lot of people eat chicken (myself included), chickens are actually intelligent animals. They can recognize over 100 faces, their own name and they can learn as much as dogs and cats can. I didn't even realize there was a scene with a decapitated chicken until today.
Julie Dawn Cole, the actress of Veruca, said in her autobiography that there were several other grotesque images for the tunnel scene that didn't make it into the film such as a large bore needle being injected into an arm.
Gene Wilder was such a talented actor! He played this perfectly! This video has some nice quality too! This scene freaked me out when I was a kid watching this for the first time. That chicken head haunted me for a long time! Also the worm one. Lol! The funny part is that as an adult, watching this makes me want to show this movie to the youngins because there are some valuable life lessons here. I love it!
I want to know which would be funnier. Wonka saying that during this scene, or saying it during the Wonkavision scene. Mrs. Teevee would have said "Yeah. You sure took care of all your other guests.". Or when Charlie and Grandpa Joe were the only ones left. Grandpa Joe would be the one who would have said it.
I just thought of a prompt, spies who sneak into wonkas factory because the world famous candy maker just started making canding again with seemingly no workers. These spies go in and they stumble upon all the weird rooms, meanwhile wonka and the ommpa loompas are watching them secretly, then by using their curiosity against them, like the kids, they all have accidents; (lethal kind if accidents with wonka acting like a happy jigsaw on a speaker talking to them, or, non-leathel "accidents" that traumatize the spies so bad when they leave they are practically insane).

One of the best parts of this video is when Violet says about his raindrop candy, "Spitting's a dirty habit", as she picks her nose with her pinky. And he looks at her with a sly grin, and gives a mature remark that's a subtle insult by replying, "I know a worst one."
You know what’s funny? Denise Nickerson, who played Violet, didn’t even want to pick her nose, since she had the hots for Peter Ostrum, who played Charlie, and was worried that she would look like a fool.

A lifetime of benzos is the prescription for any emotion on the “less than joy” spectrum, nowadays.
and then we're back to everything going to hell
”There's no earthly way of knowing

Uncertainty is inherently scary. When anything's possible, our minds assume the worst. But yeah, we don't have to do that.

I like how the light changes makes Gene's face appear monstrous while he's screaming.
I dream about reciting Wonka’s song and crazy speech over the intercom on a plane just as it’s hitting turbulence.

How this made it into a G-rated movie in 1971, that I saw in a cinema at age 10, is a mystery.
I WAS WONDEING THE SAME THING LMAO THAT SHIT WAS SCARY
I know, this scared the life out of me when I was 6, how is it a U (suitable for all rating in the UK) and not PG?
Not to mention how an actual chicken decapitation made it in
Nearly 30 years later Chicken Run made the smart decision to make it happen off camera.
Yeah, Because The Childhood Was Ruined!
Wonka: You’re going to love this.
Translation: I’m gonna show you how unpredictable I am.
Gene definitely had a perfect last name, since he kept getting wilder and wilder in each scene of the movie.
@@nbuehster And his character's name is Wonka as in Wonky. 😏😉🤣😀
Same, that scene fucked me up and I'd fast forward it every time I watched it, I found it so repugnant
You are hilarious. Who loves a chicken? It's a damn chicken?
Me?
@@FamilyEntertainmentStudios oh....I'm sorry
Bro, even though a lot of people eat chicken (myself included), chickens are actually intelligent animals. They can recognize over 100 faces, their own name and they can learn as much as dogs and cats can.
I didn't even realize there was a scene with a decapitated chicken until today.
Julie Dawn Cole, the actress of Veruca, said in her autobiography that there were several other grotesque images for the tunnel scene that didn't make it into the film such as a large bore needle being injected into an arm.
Jeez, that would scar children for life indeed.
@@epcotman32 Children get used to injections.
Oh hell. I have needle phobia, and that would have been the worst.
@@pauljordan4452No way, they don't. I have a phobia of needles all my life, even back then.
They should've released a cut with those horrifying scenes it would've made just that scene alone better scarier work of art.
Wonka's scream at 4:13 is hilarious. LOL
Daniel Williamson but terrifying
Daniel Williamson I know lol
ROFL. Yeah, that always killed me lol..
It’s just oddly funny
Hahahaha
Gene Wilder was such a talented actor! He played this perfectly! This video has some nice quality too! This scene freaked me out when I was a kid watching this for the first time. That chicken head haunted me for a long time! Also the worm one. Lol! The funny part is that as an adult, watching this makes me want to show this movie to the youngins because there are some valuable life lessons here. I love it!

I wish my grandpa was like that
"I take good care of my guests"
...But this is the first time you've ever had any!
Wonka: "Exactly!"
"Yeah you took real good care of that August kid, that's for sure." LOL
After revisiting this scene for the first time in awhile, it is absolutely as insane as I remember it being.
32 years old here. Got this movie for my 12th or 13th birthday. So nearly 20 years later, and wow. Now that I understand more depth of meaning, this scene is gold. Packed with depth
The imagery is rather disturbing for a children's film
Wilder was awesome at the wild, eccentric, teetering-on-the-edge characters like this, first movie I ever saw with him was Young Frankenstein. Miss this dude and his brand of funsanity :)
P Wright I loved him in ‘The Woman In Red’
he really did ANXIETY really well didn't he? Wilder is just amazing.. the producers, young frankenstein, Willy Wonka, and just so many others...
Haha Wonka is just sitting there like "idgaf." This was one of my favorite scenes.
Gene’s depravity is nothing short of excellent.
Fun fact: only Gene knew what was gonna happen, none of the other cast knew, this is their reactions for real. This movie will always be so amazing because it's the directors and Gene just fucking with them the whole time. They were only handed their lines
Fun fact: They rehearsed. Fun fact: They knew.
@@cainster fun fact: Gene went on the record talking about how much fun it was messing with them. Even the opening scene they didn't know Gene was gonna walk out limping
Opening scene, yes. But not for the boat ride, which was green screened and mostly rehearsed.
@@cainster Their reactions to Gene saying the poem was mostly real. If I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure Gene recited the poem on the spot and the reactions of Charlie and Grandpa Joe's actors were genuine.
It was like he was telling them a scary campfire story.
This brings back such fond childhood memories of being deeply traumatized by this scene but watching the whole movie repeatedly anyway. This made me legitimately too afraid to go on dark water rides at theme parks. 😂
After all these years this scene finally makes sense. It was the Unknown's doing this whole time!

The boat scene is the epitome of psychedelic 70s horror. It’s like something out of a Ken Russell film.

Gene Wilder should've gotten an Oscar for this movie, or at least a nomination. He was robbed!

Violet: “spittings a dirty habit”
Wonka: “I know a worse one”😂😂
Picking her nose is a dirty habit😂
Both
One of the best parts of this video is when Violet says about his raindrop candy, "Spitting's a dirty habit", as she picks her nose with her pinky.
3:46
That gasp 🤣
"You're going to love this.. just love it"
*NOT!!*
3:18 I don't know why but Mrs. Teavee's scream always makes me laugh 🤣
‘Spitting’s a dirty habit’
Says Violet who picks her nose
Yeah, picking her nose without using a Kleenex!
if that was a worse habit of Wonka's, did she flick it off at someone afterwards????
Veruca's the one who says about spitting. And she's also the one who picks her nose.
Denise Nickerson (Violet Beauregarde) didn't want to do the nose-picking bit. She had a crush on Peter Ostrum (Charlie Bucket) and didn't want to embarrass herself.
