I dont know about boomers but GenX didn't care much for the idea of a remake. The Gene Wilder version was sort of a classic part of history and their childhood. It was sort of the equivelant of watching someone else play Jack Sparrow. Nobody wants to watch that. That being said, Depp did an excellent job with it as only he could have!!! It wasnt my favorite of his works but I tip my hat to Depp. He is the only person that could go from Jack Sparrow to Willie Wanka to Donnie Brasco/Pistone to George Jung. He is an amazing talent!!
