I dont know about boomers but GenX didn't care much for the idea of a remake. The Gene Wilder version was sort of a classic part of history and their childhood. It was sort of the equivelant of watching someone else play Jack Sparrow. Nobody wants to watch that. That being said, Depp did an excellent job with it as only he could have!!! @@robertisham5279 what- Why are you so kinda obsessed with that sh¡t? I see you in almost all of the comments that say Jhonny depp is a really good actor ._.
The funniest thing about the video for me personally was when I watched the original movie, for some reason when Wonka imitated Verruca’s dad, I spent like 5 years thinking her dad had said the line. He did such a good impression of her dad that Johnny Depp gaslighted me unintentionally. And that’s why he’s one of my favorite actors
I think one point about this movie is to teach the adults to be children at heart too just like Wonka. Everyone is so serious and he's just trying to get them to laugh and be entertained. Example is the geography teacher. instead of playing along he tries to correct Wonka with facts. Charlie and his Grandpa are the only ones who see the humor.
Being genuine and wholesome around a crowd of people who aren't. That's why I don't understand the hate for this movie. It's underlying message is fantastic and grossly overlooked.
That’s definitely one of the messages, but I think this movie, the last one and the original stories main message to children was “don’t be a spoiled brat or karma will kick you in the ass”
i love how willy wonka appears so striking as a person. they made his skin offputingly pale, his clothing grandeur, and his mannerisms almost restrained. he always creeped me out as a kid, but now i see him as a fascinating character.
Can we just take time to appreciate not only how good Johnny Depp's menace acting, but also other actors, trilling and comedic movie, and the accuracy of the book is?
I honestly love how all the kids get eliminated because they are selfish and that they are the ones who he is pretty much terrified of in the beginning but Charlie is always grateful to be where he is and he is the only one who Willy is comfortable around
@MarvelousMarie92 Oh, definitely. Wonka's whole test is to determine which kids are too greedy or self-centered to run his factory, but in not allowing Charlie's impoverished family to come with him Wonka proves that he, himself, fails his own test. Wonka sits on his candy throne above humanity and judges it, but is blind to his own shortcomings until Charlie switches the script and forces him to confront them and put his money where his mouth is. Until Wonka grows as a person and allows Charlie's family to come with him, he is as undeserving of his factory as anybody he invited inside. Charlie isn't only honest, he keeps Wonka honest, which is why he is the true winner.
I love his ethics of why he won't allow Augustus to be made into fudge. Not because it's morally wrong, but because Wonka is a business man first and foremost.

Critiques who didn’t like this movie were bunch of frustrated boomers. Millennials loved it. It’s very dark and cold it shows you the pain behind the forced smiles and teach children not to be glutons and annoying bullies etc or else fall into a terrible chocolaty fate so it was educational for kids as well I loved it.
It wasnt my favorite of his works but I tip my hat to Depp. He is the only person that could go from Jack Sparrow to Willie Wanka to Donnie Brasco/Pistone to George Jung. He is an amazing talent!!

Such as "Whipped Cream".
Gosh so true!
and that’s why charlie is the main character
Being genuine and wholesome around a crowd of people who aren't. That's why I don't understand the hate for this movie. It's underlying message is fantastic and grossly overlooked.
That’s definitely one of the messages, but I think this movie, the last one and the original stories main message to children was “don’t be a spoiled brat or karma will kick you in the ass”
This just made me realize how much range he has as an actor, he completely transforms. He deserves all the awards because this is S-tier acting
i love how willy wonka appears so striking as a person. they made his skin offputingly pale, his clothing grandeur, and his mannerisms almost restrained. he always creeped me out as a kid, but now i see him as a fascinating character.

I honestly love how all the kids get eliminated because they are selfish and that they are the ones who he is pretty much terrified of in the beginning but Charlie is always grateful to be where he is and he is the only one who Willy is comfortable around
What makes you see that, I wonder
