Dark Souls 3 Nameless King and King of the Storm Walkthrough
What kills me is that his hand shakes before he stabs his mount.
Also the camera. That also kills me.
Ayame Pup really shows he cares for his mount and it hurt for him to stab it and take its power. Such an awesome character
@@RhantheSlayer Pretty sure that was just bad animation or because he was basically a half decayed skeleton at this point.
Nameless King was born to be a god of war to assist his father, Gwyn, in the war against dragons. He ended up joining the dragons, and his father exiled him for it, and removed his name from existence
@@NorthstriderGaming I don't think it was bad animation. The Souls games always add super easy-to-miss details in boss cutscenes.

I've played all of them, Nameless King is probably one of the absolute coolest bosses in the series visually.
abyss watchers is the best aesthetically and lore wise imo.
What about Lorian?
visually father ariandel wins
This is what I love about dark souls games, sometimes you have the feeling you're fighting something you shouldn't
Same, such as a giant fucking tree that have diarrhea
The trick is to lock on the Nameless King instead of his giant chicken, so that you can keep trace of attacks coming from both of them, doing so allows me to beat it with little to no damage. Unfortunaly, I can't say the same about his second phase, he will simply destroy you
@The Legend Himself To be honest, I think Its better not locking at all, just never get to close to the bird and have equipped the chloranty ring
Just dont lock on in first phase
@@justanotherblackwhitemicke7817 Not great for melee builds. By locking on and using a vertical swing ultra greatsword, first phase is the probably the easiest boss phase in the whole series.
Second phase is just about rolling early. getting one hit at least in (using say, a greatsword) and having enough estus saved to run away and heal.
I found the same problem. His chicken I killed with 3 to 4 hits max. Actual NK was the issue. I found trying to predict his swings was next to impossible and also trying to trade blows is instant death. I eventually won by being very patient and just trying to stay behind him even when I hit for 500-600 damage a time. I died to him more than any other boss by a long shot. Just also found if you fuck up just once he punishes you hard and you never recover from it
When you realize the dragon phase is the easy part of the fight :( :(
Died more times to the dragon than to him

For anyone having trouble with the Nameless King here's some advice:
.try to stay a ways away from him to try to bait his more punishable attacks, such as his charging thrusts
.stay calm when he attacks, roll during the attack itself and not during the windup
.don't be greedy, be patient and wait for a proper opening rather than rushing in, hoping to quickly finish him off
.keep in good spirits and regularly take breaks to ensure you do not experience fatigue
If this advice helps anyone I will be very happy, I wish you all good luck.

This was truly an amazing fight! It was amazing to learn by his boss soul that he was the Nameless War God son of Lord Gwyn. That completely blew me away!
He is the broken statue in every dark souls
The true heir of sunlight and lightning. Gwyn's first born and probably his most powerful
The question is: how many times did he die before he did this.
@Joseph Waters your souls don't respawn on this boss in the arena, they respawn in front of the bell, and you can tell by the way he was playing that he actually memorized many of his attack patterns like he knew what to do when the boss was charging stuff up in his second phase so he definitely has died many times to him lol.

the rage quit is real with this boss
Nickolas Abbott The motivation was too strong on this bossfight it needs some 20 tries but i bought him finally :)
And how much did he cost ? I want to buy him too !
During my first encounter i actually tried to beat him without putting much point into my HP, so he one shot me all of the time especially during second phase. Learning his attack pattern would be super time consuming,so... i just killed him rolling backward and shooting with a bow from distance. Easy win, but it didn't feel right.
Thanks to camera angle and timing
I defeated him in only 4 tries, and sir vilhelm, a fucking miniboss in ariandel took me 15± tries and i didnt even defeat him properly i just cheesed him in the end
6:48 holy shit. Attacking him at that time was a really bad idea. You were just lucky that he died with that hit, as you were just one hit away from death and he was about to do his attack.
True I thought the same 😂
Actually I have done that before, I remember attacking like crazy Orphan of Kos when he was summoning the lightning cuz he was just 4 hits
I do that with any boss, if it's close enough to death, I will hit it as many times as possible, not worrying about blocking.
I mean clearly it wasn’t a bad idea if he killed him...

So, did you finished it?
Mr. popo: HE DEAD
YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE A BAD TIMEE
I can't help but think that Bloodborne's Hunters would have a very easy time with this boss.
Why? Haven’t played Bloodborne yet
@@bruce000000070000000 Hunters are able to dodge very quickly (faster even than the Ashen One), and can do last minute dodges through the Nameless King's attacks. The Ashen One, meanwhile, has to time the dodge perfectly: too soon or too late, and they get hit with the brunt of the attack.
@@LordFhalkyn no they wouldn't first of all show proof where it states that hunters in bloodborne are faster then the ashen one and gameplay doesn't count example in the halo lore Spartans are strong enough to flip tanks and can even survive falling from orbit yet in gameplay 1 hit to the back of there head kills them
In the lore nameless King was a dragon slaying god who uses the power of lighting and I don't think I need to explain how fast lighting is
Meanwhile in the lore most hunters are just normal humans amped with beast blood the only ones I see killing nameless King are the old ones which are actual gods and the play character of blood borne case there able to kill said gods
(Unless you are talking about the player character in which case sorry)
@@justsomeguyontheinternet7134 Why did you bring up halo...??
@@Saltboi1823 it was to show how gameplay isn't an accurate measure for how strong game characters were and used halo for example since with just gameplay people just think masterchef is a skilled human meanwhile in lore he's surviving falls from space flipping tanks etc and I brought this up since there only arugments for why bloodborne hunters could beat nameless King was ( in bloodborne you dodge faster then in ds3)
At first I was confused on why you were using the Drang Hammers. The I realized they do MASSIVE poise damage to Nameless.
Also props to you for having the balls to use a shield in this fight.
Poise damage?? Wtf
@@anonsdad2196 Poise damage allows you to stagger or stun bosses, opening them up for a critical attack in the latter case. It's what allowed the video poster to drop Nameless King to his knees and slam him to the "floor" with a follow-up. It's basically guard breaking for bosses; you deplete their "defense" (stamina for players, poise for bosses) and then you can deal massive damage while they're stunned.
Latirin i call that stunlock but ok
@@anonsdad2196 stunlock is when you repeadtly stun someone and they cant move out of it. You csn stun lock a few bosses, but most are immune to it
Its just a parry and a visceral attack.
The sheer brutality he shows you really does hammer home the fact that this guy is really Gwyn's pride and joy.
6:03 best sync with the music
Epic boss and epic strategy you got there. Keeping him in a short range seems like a good idea.
Даниил Банкин That's literally how you are supposed to fight everything in Souls games. Dodging into the attacks is also the best strategy.
Does anyone actually tried a magic/ranged build against NK lol. Shot a single shit and he flies away
omfg that armor is so ugly. rip fashion souls
That's winged knight set plus Sir Oniin's head.
*Onion's
+Bob Muffin except poise is non existent or at least works weird, so armor=non factor
+tehCostHD From my personal experience it seems to only work when you are about to complete an attack. I notice greatswords and halberds give me a better chance to complete my attack when I get damaged right before I do when compared to using a katana or a rapier. I can't 100% say for sure though
+le anonmoose you would be correct. That isn't poise though it's called hyper armor. It's a mechanic that works exactly like you said for many heavy weapons that allow you to not get staggered during certain parts of the animation. It's to help balance out heavy weapons because other wise they would be useless. But this mechanic is from demons souls, and to some respect bloodborne, but was removed in dark souls 1 for the poise stat. But now in 3 we have a poise stat, but we also have hyper armor... So what the fuck does poise do????
I remember beating this guy after 10+ hours. I refused to summon anyone or use a bow. I was adamant to beat this guy alone. I keep his soul in my inventory as a sort of trophy lol.
God the feeling you get after defeating this guy PLUS the DRAGONSLAYER ARMOUR, o man, better than crack
5:40
Ornstein: So you're gonna want to charge him and impale him on your spear. Gets 'em everytime.

Behold, the most awesome king fight in the series! And there have been a lot of kings in it. But having to fight a lightning shooting king on a king dragon makes one envy that coolness. The camera's a bit awkward in the first half, but that don't stop the thicc onionhead here.
Why did it take so long for me to realize that the Nameless King actually has a skull underneath his hair. It's mostly covered up by the scarf on his neck.
I always thought that his face was hidden in what I now see is his crown.
The body proportions look kinda weird now. His head is tiny compared to his towering frame.
Lol, yeah
Reminder to those who are stuck on this boss: it’s very difficult, but not impossible!
Started to drop the ball towards the end there. Still, you made the first half of the second phase look so easy, I had to cheese him to win. Thanks for the video.
Just reached this boss. (Yes I'm very late) and in my first attempt I hit Storm's legs a few times and noticed I was doing no damage. So I ran around my first few attempts trying to figure out the gimmick to this fight, even luring him into all 6 of the statues around the room making him destroy them. Then I hit him in the head and noticed that did good damage. Realising that I actually had to fight this thing one on one. Thanks for actually making a giant dragon bird an actual thing you get to fight instead of running around activating some dumb gimmicks. Super badass
@@mr.congeniality8803 I started with Bloodborne and got hooked on the formula, so I decided to check Dark Souls 3 as well. The boss designs are easily my favorite part about these games aside from the challange!

That chill going up the spine once the Nameless King (solo) theme starts playing
You got hit by his finishing move twice so we could see it if we missed it the first time.
Truly a professional and that’s why I love your videos
It's an awesome boss fight that's bogged down with an awful camera. The hardest part of the fight for me is the King of the Storm and not The Nameless King. If I lock on I lose track of the dragon's head, but if I don't lock on I lose sight of the rider, which means I have to eat what ever damage he's about to deal me or panic roll like crazy and hope I don't get hit. Add in the terrible depth perception and you got a great recipe for countless deaths.
That's was the hardest boss in all dark souls 3. I actually defeated that boss, but it was so stressful.
This is one of those fights Solaire DESERVES to right with you in
I think Lorewise Solaire would join The Nameless King
This Fight in DS3 will forever be my favorite
I spent most of my playthrough ember on this boss(even farm another 20 ember in the lothric hall), this ost still haunting me until know, this boss really a bane of every melle build
you're the first person i've seen use a shield effectively against a boss in this game (and i mean blocking with it not parrying) good job!
man how that beast comes flying at you from afar, freaking terrifying
- Seeing The Nameless King form lighting bolts for the first time
- The way he touches his mount after it's slain
- The way his hand shakes before absorbing its power
- Somehow, I don't know if it's just me, but the piano piece sounds like that one from Gwyn's theme (please tell me I'm not the only one who hears this)
- The grab he does, with his spear in the second phase.... ummmm Ornstein and Smough anyone!?!?!?
All these things, just make me love this boss so much
Ur pfp lmao
That fucking fire attack the dragon does when flying up is no avoidable and I hate it
It is avoidable. His animation on dashing away and flying upward is easily observable. Immediatly sprinting away once he does that
It's just impression or the NK is way less agressive in the video? When I fough him, he always used that run and charge attack and then continued with 3 swipe combo. Here he never use these attacks together.
I think that's why the player beated him. Must have lost 3648284 times before and this was the one the NK took it easy

Use the weapon art of the dragonslayer spear when dragon does the ground fire attack and you have a guaranteed krit
I remember the first time I fought Nameless. After I defeated the dragon my friend decided to make things more intense and played the fight theme for Attack on Titan.
Soon as the chorus hit the fucker decided to jump straight in the air and rail my ass with the spear whilst I shrieked. Safe to say I didn't win.
you were playing another music during this boss fight ? u serious ? Nameless's boss fight is just wonderful
I got him to phase two in 4 or 5 tries before he murdered me not too long after that, I haven't gotten him to phase 2 again, then again I did finally get to the Twin Prices who I really don't like (felt that the camrea is MUCH worse in that fight), it doesn't help that Lothric rubs the fact that you died in EVERY TIME. Right now I'm level 90 with a max of 1000 health while not embered.

I wonder if From Software intentionally made the Bosses AI smarter and more aggresive when they were near death. Because to most of the boss encounter videos i watched and the experience i had even though you played very good and have used only 3-4 Estus's the last bits of health always add at least 5 more to that.

Eres bastante bueno, yo llegue en el nivel 95 con 50 de fuerza, pero no tenia tu habilidad de esquivar
Holy shit, I just fought that boss for the first time. I'm not sure I was prepared with just a good old Arbalest and the Hollowslayer, not the best weapon for this fight, but it's not like there's any weapon deals bonus damage against dragons or gods. Granted, that Hollowslayer was +5 and I had 40/40. I thought I was gonna have to redo the fight over and over just to get past the King of the Storm, before getting slaughtered time and again to the Nameless King, but when I entered the arena, I could actually recognize the tells for his attacks and dodge and punish accordingly. By the end of it, I'm not even sure I was playing or if it was someone else. I didn't just do this in one try. I managed to go through both phases and only get hit once in each. *AND I DID THAT WITH A LAGGING PC!* Lord am I glad it didn't randomly decide to stop for a second or that would have thrown me off entirely.
After managing to get myself killed by Pinwheel, the Covetous Demon, Prowling Magus and the Deacons (all of which bosses you really shouldn't be dying on, though given the gimmick of three of these, I may just be bad with crowd bosses. The Demon just managed to hit me with his disarming chomp) I finally know I got gud. In PvE, at least.
PvP... Well, DS3 PvP is a bunch of garbage anyway, with everyone ganking everyone...
The vitality is strong in this one
