I would agree with you on the game being slightly congested. I often had to stutter my movement so as to maximise the amount of time I had to safely blast the aliens as they came towards me. I think Chaos Engine size sprites would help alleviate this.

So cool we're still getting new Amiga games. So weird as I was playing the original recently too.
Seems like big sprites on a very confined space. Gauntlet but congested. The walls are too huge perhaps ?
