We just got a Jack Russell terrier and chihuahua mix. We got it from a shelter. She was about nine months. She is almost 1 yr. I can't believe it, Because I know we just got the highest energy dog ever. Which made me think, She's going to be a wild one. Yet She must have had, Some training before us. We take her for a walk 2 or 3 times a day. We have a Fence in yard. When we first got her she knew to go to the yard door, to let us knew she to go to the bathroom. She plays well. She's not nippy. We socialized her with other dogs. She did amazing. She does great with people. Ok, there is only two things, we can not to stop. When we walk her, She barks at people. Doesn't matter, if a man or woman. If there's no one around she walks perfectly. #2 - at night, maybe once or twice a week. She poops in our bathroom. We tried to do all the tricks and tips to stop it. I put a pee pad in there. I even got self conscious, I am like is my bathroom clean enough. Does she smells something?? Lol. I swear I clean it every day. She still does it. She won't even go on pee pad. She never pee in the bathroom, on the floor . When we had to leave for an hour for the first time, We did use pee pads and she went on it.. so she knows to go on a pee pad. I tried to put a pee pad in the bathroom. Still poops, but not on the pee pad. Luckily she eats dry food, lol, & Her poops are tiny hard nuggets. Still of course I don't want her to poop in the house. I never seem to catch her, & it's always in the bathroom. How am I supposed to train her, not to go in the bathroom, If I don't catch her in the act?? How come she gets along with people off the leash beautifully, but on a lash she barks at people?? Side note- Oh & yes, I told everyone to close the bathroom door. Apparently humans need training to. I can't get them to do that. Lol I bring training treats along with me for the walk. She seems that when she's barking, she's not paying attention to me. I love hearing more about the clicker training. She gets so many good girls, because she is a good girl. Along with training treats and play. I myself was nervous, about jack Russell/ Chihuahua mix. My experiences with chihuahuas in the past,is they have attitudes, 😅 Jack russell I never was around one. Yet Anyone would bring up Jack Russell, it was always followed by, "omg, they have to much energy". I Instantly fell in love with her. She's so sweet, and a little Comedian. Our other dog is medium size dog. He is high energy to. We found him four years ago. He is a wheaten terrier mix. They instantly bonded. They will play with each other. They both love jumping over things. Even though my other dog is bigger you can tell he is purposely gentle with her at times. The energy level is great. We love takeing trip to parks, going on long walks. She grabs a toy, doesn't nip. Then she sleeps. They both do Their nap times are the same, too cute. Okay i'm rambling. Sorry, They just bring me so much joy.❤
Jack Russell’s are very obedient, if you put in the work. They love to learn. Once they figure out that they get treats and good girls or good boys for it they are hooked
I have a 3yr old JRT mix, I think Pitt. She is lovely! My only issue is she wasn't socialized with other dogs. Is there any way to do it now? I don't know anyone with a dog, but she reacts to dogs on a walk. Any suggestions are welcome.
Charlie is. A chihuahua mix. He was almost 2 when we adopted him, and he was abused. He is scared of everything. He was trained he's well behaved, but he does not come when called. Instead, he cowards. I'm sure when they recalled him, it was to abuse him. I didn't know how to undo that damage. Any ideals would be helpful. He will bite if he feels threatened. He was never socialized and does not like people or dogs. But actually, it is a sweet dog that wants to be loved. Any help would be great.
