When I was parked in DC the other truck near me had their tonneau ripped apart and their tools stolen. My truck was not robbed. They tried to tamper with the lock and gave up. Just a few scratches was all the damage.
Definitely a nice cover but not for the winter time climate I live in. Ice and water and build up and then you get it open rolled up then it freezers and you can't close it. My heaviest Duty 8 ft backflip I'm able to brush off the snow and open and close no problem. Mine though is an inconvenience to always have to climb up to open it fully or close it and gets very heavy opening all the panels. I do not lose any cargo space with it fully open and secured to travel down the road. I especially like that my back flip only cost about 1/4 the price of yours but I am in no way knocking your purchase. Thank you for the very good review along with all your other quality videos.
I plan for the weather. In snow I either leave it closed or open. If it is in freezing rain de icer will free it up. You can also keep your vehicle in a garage to eliminate the weather issues. Honestly this is a problem with all tonneau covers and not just roll ups.
Awesome channel man. I just this though the Yakima rack vid. I commented on how expensive the lid is too but it’s honestly the best option out there for secure bed storage. I’m just trying to figure if I change trucks before investing in the whole system.
Does anyone have a video of just how secure these are. I understand anyone can get into anything. But how much trouble does it really take? I like the idea of a toolbox already there. But just by the name there going to expect things in there. Demo please. Roll n lock gator etc.
I really like this system but would a fifth wheel trailer clear the top of the box that's my only concern could you measure how high it sits above the top of the bed?
Tight fit probably if you have a short bed without sliding 5th wheel . Might be better to never buy a short bed truck ever again thats not at least a 1ton lol.
How is the retractable feature working down the road now? I had a manual before and it would start to creep open while driving after a year. I have an electric on current one and am happy but want a tool box feature.
Super sweet looking truck. Just ordered to toolbox/cover so thank you! I do have another question if you don’t mind. What type and size of tires do you have and did you put a lift or level on it?
Hello , I loved this, this is exactly what I’m looking for my 2020 Ram. Would it be to much to tell me how you purchased it ? Like the options you chose. I want it exactly like yours with the exception of the extra racks I believed you mentioned.
Ok so I chose this option because i don’t want the racks as I mentioned, “No, Tonneau Cover Only”. Would I still get the light inside the tool box? It doesn’t let me choose if I want it or not.
I saw you have the Built Right bed side mounting racks in the bed of your truck. Did you have to modify those or anything to fit the clamps for the cover rails? I have this cover on my 2017 F-150 with the Built Right racks and the racks interfere with the last clamp towards the end of the bed. Before I go cutting anything wanted to see if you found another way to make it work. Thanks!
How is the watertightness? Of both the tonneau cover, and the toolbox itself? If you covered it at what timestamp? Thanks so much, we live in the most heavy rain climate and park outside so it's critical
@@PatriotDIY Thanks very much for replying, I greatly apprecaite it. So hard to get first-hand information about products like this tonneau which, although expensive, are pretty rare so I don't know anyone with it personally. I'm thinking to go with the "jr" version.
@@PatriotDIY One more question if I can - it seems like you're also in the southeast - how hot does it get in the summer sun? Or at least, how hot does the box and the side rails get. (Often have my little kids playing in the back, sitting on the side of the bed etc and it's blazing sun down here all the time)
@@PatriotDIY Thanks! Yes I'm just worried from some reviews saying that since the jr toolbox removes the bristles that are otherwise on top of the canister it gets stuck, and considering that in this area of the county every other day is a downpour half the year, I have seen reviews saying the water permeability of this one is pretty poor. This one is pretty rare, do you have some connection to the company or you just found it by googling? I would love to give you the percentage by buying it through the link, but there's a local shop here that installs it and guarantees their work but only if I order it from their shop. All the best to you!
@@PatriotDIY Did you wire it any special way to make it work in that way? The customer service would only commit to that it would open and close with the fob but they were equivocal
I am looking into one of these, they are pricy but may be worth it for security reasons. I cannot get a straight answer out of these people how much weight I would need to handle at one time to install this. They told me the package weight is about 400 pounds. I cannot handle 400 pounds, when you installed yours how much weight did you have to handle at any one time?
Its really cool ,but not worth $4K. I can buy a bed cover, molle panels for the bed (to secure the toolbox) and a nice low profile toobox for at most half that price. Cool video ,but im not in the right tax bracket to be buying something like this haha.
Very sweet truck and great video! I’m thinking of ordering one for my 22 F350 with 8’ bed. I plan to install the Magnum Headache rack which will take up some space between the tool box and rear window. Do you know if the rails of the cover can be cut or shortened to the modified length I’ll end up with after headache rack is installed?
I understand...but It would be hard to find any other high quality power locking, lighted tool box and a retractable bed cover for less. Toolbox is 20" wide and 15" deep
OK if one does not mind losing 50% of the cargo space in the truck. With a truck shell I have double the cargo capacity and can take much larger items protected from rain and dirt than with the tonneau cover.
I havnt lost anything, if I need to haul larger items I just retract the cover. In fact with the cover open there are NO height limits....with a shell you are more limited than we are with a retractable tonneau
@---tx9xx I havnt haul anything on top of it yet but I have walked on it a couple times. Yes you could use the tracks to add tie-downs. The cover can support 500lbs
@@PatriotDIY Thank you sir, I really appreciate you taking the time to answer. I'm still between this and the renegade tonneau and the new diamondback switchback. Cool that it does let you haul on top too

Will it work with a fifth wheel hitch? I am concerned if I turn 90% it will hit the top of the tool box. I have a Ford F450 long bed.
$4,000?? There's a 0% chance this ever enters my cart.
Really interested in buying this as I really need a bed cover and tool box. My only concern is will it work with my goose neck (2 5/16 ball) trailer?
If water gets into the box, what’s inside will smell moldy and will rust. I’ve got a $200 Lowe’s tool box whose interior is always dry.
