    Why buy the pedal commander? why not just push the gas pedal down harder? it doesnt add power it just changes the sensitivity right?

    • @HarleyWood23
      @HarleyWood23  3 года назад +21

      Kinda. This is taken from their site and explains it better than I could... The throttle response is still slow when you apply more pedal. Manufacturers limit the response of the throttle in 2 ways. First, they limit how much of the throttle body will open. For example, you can press the gas pedal 100%, but the ECM will open only 80%. Second, the program decides how fast the throttle body will open. In other words, it doesn’t really matter how fast you are flooring the gas pedal. The ECM controls the speed of the signal so your foot can not open the throttle body faster.
      Pedal Commander solves this problem. It will bypass a large portion of the ETC in the vehicle and is designed to take the information right from the accelerator pedal position sensor and compile it in a high-speed control circuit. It also slightly advances that number and sends it directly to the ECU. By sending the information to the computer this way, a couple of checks that the engine computer will make can be bypassed before sending the signal to open the throttle plate. This gives you the ability to eliminate the delay from your gas pedal, allowing your engine to respond faster.

      You’re the first person I’ve heard claim more power and better mileage without the delete. Diesels used to get way higher mileage before all these EPA devices were mandated.

    4 Link, depending on the set-up, your truck will ride like a Cadillac on a 4 link Suspension, it softened up my F350 up front, the other factor is the shock you decide to put on, over the years I've had Fabtech(highly recommended), Fox adjustable with Reservoir, and my current F250 has Icon adjustable with reservoir, the jury is still out on the Icon's, I just picked up the F250 and the truck came with the Icon stage 5 suspension, the reason I bought it, it rides nice, but i was told the Icon shocks have tendency to leak and blow oil with requires rebuilding and recharging with Nitrogen...

    I see where the want to delete comes from, I really do but on a new truck that was 90k or better I don’t think I would, at least not until the warranty is gone. We just sold our last pre emissions Kenworth last month for stupid money but you have to remember that truck will lose all warranty’s on EVERYTHING as soon as that delete happens, dealership or a mechanic legally can not touch that truck. And the EPA is cracking down hard, you get stopped at a portable weight check, or yearly inspection depending on the state and or gvw, you’re screwed, not sure what the non commercial fines are but commercial fines are 10 thousand dollars per truck compounding plus you have to reinstall the emissions system and you could lose your DOT numbers. I get the better mileage is a huge pro but it’s an 8 thousand pound pickup, it’s not built for mileage. There’s a lot of really expensive computers and wiring in that truck, a guy in town deleted his 2020 1 ton high country with 16 miles on it, the main dash harness wasn’t fastened up correctly and the wires rubbed threw and fried most of the computers and the entire dash harness running threw the firewall, the cab had to be unbolted and set back so they could get the old one out and new one in, cost him 26k to get it fixed and it was out of pocket because he deleted it and the dealership won’t touch it. Just something to think about

      It is federally non compliant to delete an emissions compliant vehicle. However, if crack heads steal your shit in the middle of the night, then it only makes reasonable sense to upgrade by reducing the overall weight of said vehicle which results in greater fuel economy....Just an opinion on an uncultured swine.

    01:56 Just curious if you've put significant mileage on those tires (like 30,000 or more) and if your opinion on the road noise has changed? I've been through a ton of tires through the years and used to think like you....it's a truck and should make some noise. However, after my last set of Nitto Trail Grapplers (I've ran them twice with the same result) I decided I would never again run tires that might get loud. Those Nittos were great up until around 30,000 miles and then, both times, they got so loud you had to raise your voice a lot in the cab to have a conversation. Nope, not worth it to me. I'm going back to BFG ATs. They are the only ATs that are quiet and stay quiet that I've found.

    @LWRC Год назад +1

    One tip: mass flowrate = fluid density x cross sectional area x velocity !
    Why is this important?
    • exhaust gas flowrate = mass flowrate in the above equation
    • exhaust gas density = fluid density in above equation which remains constant
    • cross sectional area = cross sectional area of aftermarket exhaust pipe because you increased pipe size diameter!
    So for a given engine RPM, using a constant value of mass flowrate, when you increase the exhaust pipe diameter, the exhaust gas velocity must decrease based on the equation!!!
    By going to a larger diameter size piping for the exhaust, you may be decreasing the performance of your engine just to gain the 'looks' which is insane!!! Most if not all truck owners don't know this because they don't understand fluid dynamics!!!

    • @03c5z
      @03c5z Год назад

      Larger pipe diameter post turbine will never hurt performance. The idea of restriction ever being a good thing is a myth. Yes flow velocity is important for scavenging on a NA engine but thats irrelivant for a turbo engine. Too large of piping pre turbine can decrease response some.

    • @LWRC
      @LWRC Год назад

      @@03c5z You have no idea what you are talking about!!! The fundamental laws of fluid dynamics cannot be violated! That's why they're called laws!!! Whether you pressurize the exhaust gas or not is irrelavent!!!

    • @03c5z
      @03c5z Год назад

      @@LWRC okay, well go put a small high velocity pipe behind your turbo and see how that plays out against the alternative. You dont need to answer me, just go watch some real world testing and see if it stacks up against your theory that somehow a larger DPF back exhaust could somehow negitively hurt performance. Ovesized primaries on set of headers will slow velocity down and ultimately cylinder scavenging and power. This is not the same.

    • @LWRC
      @LWRC Год назад

      @@03c5z Again, back yard hacks do not overcome laws of fluid dynamics and it is not my theory!!! Given today's internet search capability, you can't even do that or is it you can't comprehend what the search engine finds?!!! NASA has a web page which outlines this law explicitely. Do you really think those folks don't understand fluid dynamics?!!!
      What you said is true however that oversized pipes will slow gas velocities down, that's exactly what the law states! As for small high velocity pipes, there comes a point where it begins choking the flow. Without understanding fluid dynamics and just stating generalities and assume they're universally true is laughable.
      So how many larger sized exhaust pioes have these aftermarket geniuses tested? If it was so simple just to increase pipe size to gain huge power, don't you think the factory would have already done so given their hundreds of millions in R&D budget?!!
      What these tuners are doing are throwing stuff on the wall and see what sticks - a random guess at best. They do not have the design parameters from the manufacturers and do not know how much they are reducing the durability of the engine nor drivetrain systems that's subjected to the power increase. Ask any of these tuners how they arrived at the pipe size and have them show you the test data they gathered to arrive at the final size!
