At the end when installing the starter gear, the thin washer goes on last, you put it on the inside next to the needle bearing, it should be the shaft, shim, needle bearing, starter gear, shim, thin washer, then the cover.

Hmm good to know I’ll have to fix it in the spring when I won’t turn into an ice cube while riding.
