  • Graeme heads to the coast to film a beach fishing movie. Craig & Charlie give you beach fishing tips on the rigs, tackle and tactics to help you catch more fish from the beach. Bait is so important when sea fishing, and this video just highlights how important fresh bait is. Craig also shows you how to use a giant spider crab for bait. Graeme does some solo overnight camping in a car. Thanks for joining the adventure and please subscribe if you enjoyed it!

i'm re watching this whole video but i still don't understand why you use the beads in between the lead and why its good if the lead can move around, so far i have only done fishing in small rivers and its one piece of wire with a fixed float and lead. i'm so confused and cant find anything more about it online :/

Rectro YT the beads are just like buffers and protect the clip where the weight is from hiring the other clips . As for the weight moving , it’s a basic sliding ledger - if a fish takes the bait , rather than it immediately feeling the weight pulling against it , it will be able to swallow the bait and start to swim away before the weight then slides along to the head and clip and then stops. A pulley rig works in much the same way but also prevent your lead getting caught up on the weed and rocks .

Appreciate the effort, Graeme. These long vids can't be easy to film and edit, but are definitely the best format for a beach session vid as they allow the'narrative' to develop, much the same as a good session can. Keep up the good work!

Hi Graham. I've converted my car into a micro camper and for a good night's sleep I'd recommend trying to block out the light. A simple and effective solution is to cut cardboard to the size of the windows and cover in duct tape. Put extra around the edges to make a spongy layer that will allow you to press into the edges of the windows. Also important to learn where your inside boot release catch is and get good at opening it!

mate, I just found your channel and straight away I'm hooked. I watched the entire video (almost 2 hours) of you fishing sharks staying overnight in a tiny boat. You're hilarious too. Reminds me of my grandpa who was a fisherman for 60 years, he's 78 y.o now.

Totally get what your saying about pushing yourself while you can. I am 61 and find getting to some of my rock marks harder and harder. You are so right about the time will come when it will be nigh impossible to do the sort of fishing we do now. Thanks again for another bonanza episode.
Have noticed a lack of fish in Cornwall as well, rest assured your not the only one’s blanking!
    Good luck Gary.

Tough fishing, but it was nice to see that the main species that you caught were Bass. In the late 70,s I drove my fellow clubmate Brian Meade to a NWASAC meeting where he gave an impassioned speech about starting a campaign to ban Gill Netting for Bass, as he realised that they were in real danger of commercial overfishing. I believe he died before he saw any real protection being given to the species, but the campaign that he started certainly led to an increased awareness of the intense pressure that Bass stocks were under.

Graeme, you can make a double, or single, baiting up tool out of an old coathanger.

the autistic angler, a somewhat stiffer baiting up tool can be made from a BBQ skewer.

The best thing is a bike spoke, a coat hanger is too thick

David Storton, you mention bicycle spokes. One can indeed make baiting needles with a hole at one end, using galvanised thin spokes and brass crimps. A thin walled crimp can be soldered on. (Might work with superglue, but I haven't tried that.) To prevent the hole filling up by cappillary action while soldering, melt tin onto the wire and only then put the crimp on, then add some heat without putting more tin on. Having said all that, you must know that the brass crimp will eventually rot. (Zinc, brass and salty water gets you electrolysis.)
If you think about using Stainless Steel spokes, I doubt that a crimp would stay on.
These baiting tools with the big eye crook handle are usually used for making quite large baitwraps. To work easy, they need to have some backbone in them, but you could indeed use stainless steel spokes for that.
For the double spike, spokes are too short.
      Kind regards, Jaak.
