The thing I love about hot crossovers and SUVs is that they’re faster in the real world than any supercar. If you come up to an unexpected traffic jam in your 911 Turbo S on a divided highway with a curbed median, you have to just sit there and wait. In this, you simply drive over the curb and turn around, problem solved. Plus, you can see over other cars, which is VERY helpful in traffic because you can plan your moves ahead of time, and you also feel more comfortable driving when you know what’s going on around you.
I have an SQ7 and love it! Your observations and comments were spot on and I’m happy you were so pleased with this vehicle since so many journalists treat them like they are second rate to BMW And Mercedes. Also glad you mentioned the far quicker observed 0-60 times out there compared to claimed time. A+ job
In my opinion this is almost one of the best looking coupe SUVs ever the interior is very clean looking too I still wonder wether it’s better than the x6 or not?
I've seen an X6M and RSQ8 in real life drive past many times, not coz I live in LA but because I live in a drug dealers town. The X6M looks absolutely hideous at the rear, it's so tall almost like a complete slab with weird angles, with the coupe look it's ugly. RSQ8 looks much more sleek and sculpted. Imo of course.
As a temporary leave of car guy (1 toddler and 1 infant now) past e90 m3 6mt, e46 m3 6mt, gt3 6mt owner, i have a SQ7 and my brother has a SQ8 and the Audi brand has really brought these cars to life. My brother is a past two time cayenne turbo owner and I am still a cayenne turbo S owner and I love your comment about how authentic the drive feels. The new SQ's offer such un-boosted drive unlike the PTV+ paired with RWS that Porsche puts in their vehicles and it is far more of an honest "drivers car" (can I even say that?) than any SUV or even performance sedans out there today. Audi's been on the back burner for me since the B7 S4/RS4, gen 1 R8 days, but now they are really on this incredible path of building quality drivers vehicles while providing incredible value.
im like so confused...... ive been subscribed to teddy 2 toes for years and years and to be quite frank, i always come out learning something when im done watching one of his videos. why doesnt he have 1 mill subscribers yet?
My favourite part about this car is that VW Group 4.0L twin turbo V8 ~~ The sound that thing makes is really nice~ If you want an Urus or RS Q8, but can't pay for an actual Urus or an RS Q8, this is a good substitute and it's still crazy with its 500 HP and 770 Nm of torque. The fact that the SQ8 is a huge SUV and it drives like a sports car is amazing. Audi did some wizardry with this car for sure.
You might wanna test drive a Porsche Cayenne S after this, a new one is cool. My dad has a 2011 Cayenns S with an ECU chiptune and it launches REALLY quick for a SUV. He did a test and it went 0-60 mph in 4,3 seconds. Would be cool if you'd check it out.
Audi is definitely underrating these things. I did see a video of a shop that tuned an RSQ8 and despite the claimed 591 hp/590 lb-ft versus the big brother, the Urus with 641 hp/627 lb-ft, they were getting bigger numbers compared with the Urus using the same tune. I think Audi isn't stupid, they got some tricks up their sleeves. Same thing with the S8 (my favorite of the current lineup). They claim 563 hp, but the torque remains the same as the RSQ8 @ 590 lb-ft, so my guess is that the engine is very likely using the exact same calibration and Audi just claimed a lower power rating because the A8 doesn't have an RS model. I'd go for an SQ7 over the SQ8, but definitely would be well-served and happy with either of them. :D
Love the 2021 Audi SQ8.......... Just ordered one in Matador Red, Black with Gray Stitching, Carbon Vector inlay, Luxury Package, Titanium Black Optic Package, Black Rings & Model Badge Kit, S Beams 4 doors, Sports Resonator Kit! Only problem it won't be in until July/Aug this summer... They told me it would more that likely be a 2022 model so I'm waiting patiently and hoping it comes in sooner! I guess it gives me time to save up for it! Just kidding :) By the way AUDI is offering 1.49% financing or Feb 2021 for those who qualify and are interested in purchasing a SQ8. Love your videos Ted and I expect I'll be driving with a heavy foot also. Big smile my friend!
This car made me move over from BMW 2019 X5 to Audi 2021 SQ8. I drove BMW since 2005… This car is a nice car with few thing that bother me. 1. Laggy infotainment system and lag on the turbos… sometimes the power is not there. Other than that it’s a solid car. So far I drove it for about 13k miles have it for about 2 years.
Had an sq8 as a temporary company car a month ago for a few days, must say it was a nice change from the 1.4 tfsi a3 i usually have! Not sure the director who now has it for the remaining duration of the lease will swap with me though... Must say that given fuel is around $7 a gallon here im kind of glad im back to my normal car, while i am fully remibursed for fuel used, i still pay initially out of my own account, and that was not pretty while doing around 800 miles a week
@@jakemarold6978 In my country something like 60% of gasoline prices is made up of taxes. They claim that money goes to maintaining roads but the roads suck and we have another road tax on top of that. We're suffocated by taxes.

Good review. I enjoyed hearing the excitement in your voice driving this. A couple of questions, though, technical in nature. You mentioned that this would be a beast in the snow with a good set of snow tires. My question relates to that: Is there any difference between the Quattro AWD in the Q8 versus the SQ8 without the optional Sports Package and its rear ltd slip differential? Is the 60/40 rear/front power bias of the awd system fixed, or does it vary, and if vary, to what percentage limits can the power be sent to the front axel and to the rear axel? How does adding the Sport Package with its rear ltd slip diff change this, and will it help not just powering thru fast, dry turns, but on rougher roads and slippery snowstormy roads? Different reviewers have said different things about this issue, so I am struggling to verify such, and I thought I'd ask. Either way, good review.
@@TheYankmchain Yeh, it's frustrating when these reviewers don't reply, though I can't be too critical of these guys, since I find that most reviewers don't reply. That said, when a reviewer does reply, especially when they make an effort to answer questions, it really stands out since most don't, and as such is very much appreciated. I am going to ask this reviewer another question, having just watched the video again. I had put off my purchase decision, so am still looking. Considering the Q8, but am leaning strongly towards the SQ8, with the sport package he references that adds cross stabilization in the front and sport rear electronic ltd slip differential, which I think has to help some on slippery winter roads as well as stronger performance on dry roads. I am still torn a bit about the wheel size. I want the SQ8 Prestige, but if I get the black optics which is so beautiful it forces me into the larger wheel/smaller rubber sidewall 22" wheels, but if I forgo the black optics I can keep the slightly smaller wheel/slightly thicker rubber 21" wheels. I just don't know if the difference in rubber thickness between a 22" and 21" wheel will be noticeable. Decisions, decisions.

I just got of these (SQ8 Prestige w/S Sport pkg). People who say they would get an RS6 instead should take a long look at the configurator and realize it’s over $20k more for the same equipment, plus market adjustment since RS6 is in low supply, so more like +$30k. Not really a cross-shop that people do in the real world.

Was looking at the SQ8, RSQ8, and Lambo Uras, went with SQ8 for it offered by far the best value for money for performance, plus had more options on interior colours (the RS is only black just with coloured stiching) omin the video you have the entry level, hence the shitty looking silver edging round the front grill. Get the fully loaded, it’s got black polished carbon, looks as mean as fuck.
Wow Audi’s really gotten their V8 sound game down! This TTV8 was a Porsche-led project and it sure shows lol. The whole SUV coupe thing still makes no sense to me, but hey, if they make VAG $$$ to keep giving us 911s and R8’s, so be it. I think personally, the Cayenne is the closest to my taste of all these VAG SUV’s, but this thing is still pretty wicked.
I came back to watch your very good video review again, and once again, loved it. Never heard back from you on my last questions, but I now have another question somewhat related to the last that I am hoping you'll answer: In the video you reference a moment on a turn where the SQ8 slipped a little. You seemed to downplay it, which makes me think it may have just been circumstantial and not an issue for the vehicle, but it concerns me. Is that slip something I need to worry about? What do you think caused it? Would that have happened under similar circumstances with a regular 4WD suv like a Yukon Denali? I had to temporarily put off my prior purchase decision of the 2021 model earlier this year, but I am now seriously considering a 2022 SQ8 Prestige with the 4 wheel steering and the optional sport package, and slippage versus solid grip on wintery, snowy roads is my biggest concern with whatever vehicle I get. I am thinking, hoping the Audi AWD system, with the 4 wheel steering, and that rear elsd of the sport package, that it all might make this Audi a top performer in snowy weather, on secondary roads or at highway speeds, but then I heard your slip comment on a road that appeared to be only slightly slippery with either rain or slush, and it got my attention. I hope you'll reply with some comments. All the above said, I very much think yours was an excellent review. Thumbs up. This SQ8 is so tempting! I am trying to decide whether the 22" wheels required with the black options option are acceptable, or if I should forgo the black optics as beautiful as it is, thus keep the 21" wheels. I am thinking every bit of extra rubber could be helpful, and as sporty as this is it is still supposed to be an suv, but I am not sure if the difference between the 22" and 21" wheels will even be noticeable. If you have thoughts on that as well, I'd welcome those too.
I would honestly love to see some e38 7 series pov content because there ain't many out there and i am kinda curious on what u would have to say!! Also what do think about the lamborghini urus?? I personally find it to be a bit of a overpriced audi q8!
something i'm noticing in these newer vehicles is the dialog for the rpm guage and speedometer why the changing them from the standard guages that just go up by the pin needle never owned a car in my life or ridin that had them
Great review, I’d love to drive one. I am wondering how it compares to the v6 Q8 which is already pretty expensive. Obviously you get more power and nicer trim level but you also get more weight, worse mileage and higher cost. Is it worth it for an SUV? I recently did a back to back test drive of the X5 40i M sport and M50i (X6 was too ugly to consider) and liked the M50i’s power and sound, but the handling was a little sloppy compared to the 40i (with M sport package). You could definitely feel the extra weight on the front end and the steering feel was worse than the 40i. I came to the conclusion that the 6 cylinder had enough power for an SUV in 90% of situations, so the M50i was not worth the money or the extra weight and accompanying degraded handling and steering feel. I am curious if Q8 vs SQ8 would be similar. If you could arrange an M50i vs SQ and/or a Q8 (or X5) 6 cylinder vs V8 I think it would make a great video.
On the M50i version, BMW offers an optional Dynamic Handling Package. Most dealerships skip this option to keep the price from nearing 100k, but all BMW press cars have this option on it. If you watch any reviews on the X5/X6 M50i, they’ll say the handling is great. I definitely recommend test driving a model with this option (if you can find one) to see the difference.
Hey Tedward, beautiful car, for sure, and I love getting to see all these fun vehicles that I may never get to drive. On a practical note, however, I'm really wondering about the gear you use to make these videos. Can you make a vid about how you make the vids?

I'd like to see the Etron Sportback S. From what I've heard it's a hard sell at dealers in spite of over 500hp. Tbh I'd go for the normal SUVs since they can't be as slick as the A7.
I think it’s just easier not to buy and EV if you were on the fence. If you were thinking about it and show up to an Audi dealer there’s so many other cars to catch your attention. If you go to Tesla you have no choice but electric
Hi! I know it’s been a while since you reviewed this car, but how did you feel about the racer seats in comparison to the luxury seats in the traditional Q8? I know they have more functions for the racer seats now, but is one more comfortable or more spacious than the other? Great review!
I have no use for SUV's whatsoever, and I really dislike the whole SUV-ification of the states. The smaller, the better IMO. I can't deny how seemingly impressive the VW group's SUV's are, though.
The difference is that an SUV is way better/easier/nicer to get in and out of if you are driving to and from work, the grocery store, etc. It's really really really nice
@@marcusborderlands6177 I understand the argument, but convenience is so boring. I want something that can take a corner with minimal body roll while instilling confidence. I also want something that’s actually affordable and good value for money. I have literally no reason for an SUV every day. I know I’m not like most other people. I have no kids to cart around or any lumber/tools etc. to transport on a daily basis. If I need the room for a day, I get the room for the day.
Audi has always had garbage paddle shifters and I genuinely think it is because Porsche is looming above them with the more premium parts (leather, paddle shifters, etc.).
Would you tell people to get an interesting exterior color? I feel like having a color more accepted would make selling it easier than having something outlandish. Interior color I agree, black is boring! Have something that contrasts well
That’s really got to be up to the owners taste. I’ll say it’s too easy to go for the German rainbow of white silver or black. If it’s not outrageously expensive I’d prefer something in a deep hue like a red or green. The possibilities are endless if you’re willing to pay
The only thing i don’t like about new Audi cars is that their interior,so dull and nothing exciting, old interiors were amazing specially their screens when they pop out from the dash otherwise exterior are nice..
Really? What old Audi’s are you talking about? The dash on the new Audi’s are the best in the car world. Very configurable. Plus, they always get the best interior awards.
I really don't like this trend of Uber SUV's. Something like an s7 which I figure is just a sportback coupé looking thing just lower to the ground. Yeah, this thing looks sorted on the road, but who really is going to use the higher ground clearance? What advantage does it bring besides being slightly easier to get in and out of
@@gregs8685 but it's literally what estate cars are for. If you need the extra room, something that drives like a Normal car but isn't stupidly high. The cargo room is the same or more usually.

I'm always surprised by Audi interiors despite knowing I like them because I'm so conditioned to expect *the tablet*.
I personally find it to be a bit of a overpriced audi q8!
something i'm noticing in these newer vehicles is the dialog for the rpm guage and speedometer why the changing them from the standard guages that just go up by the pin needle never owned a car in my life or ridin that had them
TDI in EU not like this :(
Not anymore, they replaced the V8 TDI with the petrol V8 :)
We have the exact same engine as the americans have. Audi switched from diesel to petrol last autumn
I learn a lot from these comments 😂
Driving like that in snow is freaking me out
I didn’t hear you talk about the ride quality, if you did and I missed it could you touch on that?
That first brake check hurt my insides lol
Me and my dad watch your videos !
This thing has some bugatti chiron genetics in it , its got half the chiron engine with 4 liters .
Don't get other than light gray, light tan or black (or at least dark) interior, cars with brown interiors are almost impossible to get rid of..
Nasty car, absolutely amazing
Thanks, I am not sure if the M50i I drove had it, it was 6 months ago. Probably not.
The SQ8 is the Q8 and everything the Q8 lacks.
love your vids bro
Thank you!
The best car ever
Dear God the sound of it, ahhhhhhh lovely!!
Aweesome video, cheers mate!
Really like your channel but want to see more of you. You have good insight but wouldn’t hurt to see more interaction with the people
Very nice car. I love it. I wish I could own one some day
I toe tap every time I get into my car and I didn't know anyone else did that but me lmao can you make a proper car riding etiquette video next?
Tedward you need to start driving more bmw suvs. Preferably x3 or x4 m40i
Probably the best looking of the luxury SUV coupes (X6 types). Another great video Tedward!
I’ll take one in green.
hi. nice review. how does this compare to the new Audi S6 and Jeep SRT8 in terms of performance? thanks
Have you considered any reviews on Mazda products? What is your opinion on their shift upmarket in recent years?
Another Great video Tedward!!!! Bravo Senor!!!
Hey Tedward, beautiful car, for sure, and I love getting to see all these fun vehicles that I may never get to drive. On a practical note, however, I'm really wondering about the gear you use to make these videos. Can you make a vid about how you make the vids?
Hey gray! I made a video called “perfect pov” early in the summer last year that should tell you everything. The thumbnail is inside a Dino 246gt
@@TedwardDrives cool, thanks! I'll check it out.
I get the SQ7 if you need 7 seats at times, but why not get an RS6 instead of an SQ8? Same engine, lower, spacious, and a classic.
How would it compare to the X5 or X6 M50i? Equal to them? I have driven the X5 M50i. It was capable but leaned luxury.
What are your thoughts on the Jeep Grand Cherokee? They have somewhat the same feel as I got from this video but I don’t know for sure because I haven’t driven both😂
Great review. How was the ride in comfort mode compared to an A8? Looking to get something more practical and not give up the luxury. Thank you.
Ride comfort is going to be worse than an a6. Probably like an a4.
@@jimj2683why would you think that? I went A6 to Q8 and while I loved my A6, the Q8 is definitely more comfortable. Like, WAY more comfortable.

Americans: SUV's is sporty
also Americans: BurgerKing is healthy
You should try a Lada Niva, first unibody SUV ever made, with disc breaks on all 4 corners.
I hate most German cars but can't lie Audi does a very good job of their interiors
Nice video .Keep up the good work.
Solid video, great work.
Hi! I know it’s been a while since you reviewed this car, but how did you feel about the racer seats in comparison to the luxury seats in the traditional Q8? I know they have more functions for the racer seats now, but is one more comfortable or more spacious than the other? Great review!
The S-Line seats are in both normal Q8 and SQ8. But most comfy seats are the comfort seats
I prefer that one to the rsq8
An excellent review !
Nice review!
Looks excellent really is a great car.
you live in the same area as me, have driven on half the roads you drive on in this vid lol
5:44 is that a speaker making some noises? or is it because you braked on snow?
That’s abs engaging
@@TedwardDrives ahh okay👌🏻 It sounded so much different than the abs of the cars that I drove. Greetings from Germany, love your videos👍🏻
I have no use for SUV's whatsoever, and I really dislike the whole SUV-ification of the states. The smaller, the better IMO. I can't deny how seemingly impressive the VW group's SUV's are, though.
Agree
The difference is that an SUV is way better/easier/nicer to get in and out of if you are driving to and from work, the grocery store, etc. It's really really really nice
@@marcusborderlands6177 I understand the argument, but convenience is so boring. I want something that can take a corner with minimal body roll while instilling confidence. I also want something that’s actually affordable and good value for money. I have literally no reason for an SUV every day. I know I’m not like most other people. I have no kids to cart around or any lumber/tools etc. to transport on a daily basis. If I need the room for a day, I get the room for the day.
8:43 Did he just said TRASH CONTROL????
Hahaha
I live in Boston too
was that km/h or mp/h? Even the sq8 is too much for us roads
It was mp/h
The Q8 is such an eyesore.
So why it’s now not what you’ve expected?!
wow i really love the sq8 than the rsq8. SQ8 is amazing =) edit: my literal dream suv
@@TedwardDrives thank you for your wise words. Safe drives with all the snow we’ve been getting 😎
What snow tires would you recommend putting on?
I really like my Vredestein snow tires
Bro i own a sq8 but can u tell me how to enable that exhaus sound?
Did it lose the navigation feature on the center stack?
No it’s there if you want it to be, or on the virtual cockpit or both simultaneously
Can u pls review the Mercedes amg gt63s?
The only thing i don’t like about new Audi cars is that their interior,so dull and nothing exciting, old interiors were amazing specially their screens when they pop out from the dash otherwise exterior are nice..
Really? What old Audi’s are you talking about? The dash on the new Audi’s are the best in the car world. Very configurable. Plus, they always get the best interior awards.
BMW 530e review?
I really don't like this trend of Uber SUV's. Something like an s7 which I figure is just a sportback coupé looking thing just lower to the ground.
Yeah, this thing looks sorted on the road, but who really is going to use the higher ground clearance? What advantage does it bring besides being slightly easier to get in and out of
More interior room, cargo space and as you said easier entry. Sedans definitely drive better but people with families need the extra space.
@@gregs8685 but it's literally what estate cars are for. If you need the extra room, something that drives like a Normal car but isn't stupidly high. The cargo room is the same or more usually.
