Totally respect your opinion, but I bought this car a couple of months ago…just not in a shitty Daytona Gray. If you need to pull a trailer w/ your motorcycle, or put your bike rack in the receiver hitch…the RS6 is not an option. The SQ8 is a far better value, but it looks too boring. The RS Q8 is a sleeper super car. Most people have no idea I blew $150k on a car (which is stupid), but they look at it and know it’s special. You’re crazy if you think the 23” wheels mess up the ride quality. This is the smoothest riding car I’ve ever owned and the back seat room is basically the same as having a 7 series beemer. Hatch space is slightly compromised, but so is having a 3 row Q7, where only 2 rows are really useable. The is a great looking SUV, and fast as hell. I bought the ceramics because I refuse to pay someone to wash my car and I f’ing hate brake dust, with a passion. It’s the best $10k I’ve ever spent! By the way, it stops on a dime. For people saying "oOoOh a mOdEl X iS quIckEr tO 60" ...who cares? This is a far quicker car in any scenario other than off the line, and a far better car in every other way too. Remember at the Nurburgring this huge SUV is only 3-4 seconds per lap slower than the 1000+ hp Model S plaid, so the Model X can't even fit in the same sentence with it. This car out handles and runs circles around the top Model S spec, let alone the Model X.
Gave you a thumbs up because you are right about its capability. But you are also very wrong in another way. As good as no one buying this car, cares one iota about its handling, It just isnt a priority. They buy it because its "the best" and most expensive suv the Audi dealer offers.
I am an SQ7 owner. The appeal of these cars is they do EVERYTHING, and provide utility (including towing, which I need) that the RS6 doesn't provide. Consider driving an SQ7. It works really well there. I am happy to provide mine if you want to look at it - and I am local to you in the NW burbs.
You can get the RS 6 to tow. It has nearly the same towing capacity as the RS Q8 in fact. You just have to order the OEM trailer hitch and have it separately installed.
I drove this and an SQ7 when my wife and I were shopping for a "do it all" daily. The SQ7 won because the performance handicap wasn't enough to make me ignore just how much more practical the SQ7 is in every way. Also, the huge 23s on the RSQ8 having no winter tires is a deal breaker, and the huge 23s are the only wheels that look good on the RSQ8.
Nice video guys! I would choose the RS6 over this however I'm not the biggest fan of these oddly coupe suvs. Mark was right definitely a lease car because the depreciation and repair bills would be astronomical and for someone with the disposable income to blow it on. Well, they aren't even popular even in the US. This sort of vehicle isn't intended to be anything but a very special vehicle for a certain kind of wealthy buyer. Male, 30-60, and rich. If I go to the neighborhoods where the megarich live this will be the cheapest car on the mansion's driveway, parked with the Benley and the Maybach.

I will say. The average person sees an RS6 (I've asked my parents) and goes, " A wagon? Why the fuck would you want a wagon? That's an old person's car". Despite it being objectively a better car, the RS6 demographic is soooo small
Hilarious that people think this about wagons and minivans and not SUVs which have been mom-mobiles and old people machines for 20+ years. Cognitive dissonance.
Advising RSQ8 customers to buy an RS6? You don't understand the customer. For the longest time car manufacturers also didn't understood the customer. Once they followed the money they realized that RSQ8 and like is what the new customers want, not station wagon. The idea that people buy SUVs for their space is no longer 100% the reality. Just switched from the Q8 to the SQ8-the driving dynamics are much improved. The V8 is just the better power plant for this size vehicle. I did not have air suspension or the rear wheel steering on my Q8 and would suggest anyone who would go there ante up for these options (standard on SQ8). Really makes the car more nimble and smooths out the road imperfections.

I agree with you when it comes to spending the money. I guess this SUV coupe thing is more of an emotion buy (or lease, whatever), because at the money someone is paying for this; they probably can afford multiple cars. Which in the same shoes, I would've just bought a Q7 for family stuff and have an R8 for me. Of course with me, I would rather have a RS6 Avant in my garage. heh
Your review, while harsh, is accurate. I like how you say get an RS6 instead, so much more practical. Have you tried buying an RS6? The best I could do was $10k over sticker, now $25k over. Makes the RSQ8 a relative bargain, and when you de-badge it and skip all the carbon fiber man jewelry, it blends in nicely. Nobody is the wiser and you have a fine daily driver.
I can 100% understand your point on "Just not necessary" although why the hell not? People may not want to drop $200K + on the Urus but want something bigger and taller considering most people are going with SUV's nowadays anyways. I'm in no position to buy this but just my two cents
Sounds cringe. To me that reveals an owner who doesn't understand cars and that they could have bought a great SUV and a great sports car for less, and also come across less douchy during the school pickup. I don't get it, there is zero class to a car like this. Just bombast and nothing else.
Watching this under the car section makes me appreciate the vast difference between BMW M cars and Audi's RS cars. BMW removes some technologies for their M products to purify the experience while Audi throws the tech basket at the RS cars to make them handle like a RWD based vehicle.
@@markmiller3279 the M products don’t use air suspension, active roll bars, or 4 wheel steering. So they’re certainly more simple than the Audi competition.
Love your work, have never bought / leased a car w/o watching it's review in your channel. I would really appreciate if you could do a review of the latest RSQ8 which I understand is a complete transformation from this half-assed product.
I have the base Q8 and I can’t really imagine wanting more acceleration. It does 0 to 60 in just about the same time as my old 997. What more do you need
I have seen way more RSQ8s on the road than RS6s and RS7s. Granted, this could be because the RS6/7 are more limited and hard to obtain in this market, but it seems as if customers in this price bracket largely prefer the Coupe-SUV form factor for whatever reason. Despite being heavier, having worse handling, worse fuel economy, less utility, and higher price tag, the tuff SUV continues to dominate the North American market.
People in America have more money than taste, this car is meant for rich people to look like the biggest dick in the world despite having a 2 inch penis. Most people buying this car are compensating for their lack of size both height and dick length.
I said the same thing when comparing the Q8 to the Q7. I saw the same loss of space. It is a lot less space then the 7. The RS Q8 is a really cool looking vehicle. Like you I would step down to the S series and go with the S Q7. Thank you.
Great review as always. Don’t really know who this vehicle is for though. I like sports cars and rent trucks from the hardware store when I need one. My wife daily drives a Camry. Slow, comfortable, and efficient both on gas and cost of ownership. It’s like this is a vehicle for the husband on a ball and chain or the rare wife that wants performance in her crossover so she can haul ass to pick up the kids from soccer practice.
Super SUVs will never not be stupid, but they make more sense if you think of them like a muscle car. Kind of a normal car but with a huge engine and good for going fast in a straight line.
This segment is something for everyone; not something good, but it's something. It's something some people insist is what they want, but it's just a watered down station wagon, a watered down hatchback, and a watered down SUV. Said people would be better served making a decisive decision to buy one or the other.
Everyone thinks of the CUVs as SUVs with less storage space...I think of them as sedans with great visibility with a huge amount of storage...my AMG-GLC has plenty of space my tennis, hockey, bowling, gym clothes, and golf clubs ...and some groceries and I'm sure a Q8 would too!
This car is something I would expect from a rich guy in Dubai or something: where even the police has sportscars you need something even more ludicrous
Fortunately, I believe Audi is phasing out the Dual-Screen layout with excessive gloss black. If you look at the new E-Tron GT interior, they brought back physical buttons and replaced the gloss black with wood/aluminum trim.
RS6 wagon and I'd never look back. Cargo capacity and I can throw my bikes on the roof or a cargo box and I'm good. This is just one of those niche SportUV things that people who don't know any better buy because of the extra letters in the name, just like all the MB buyers who go directly to AMG and are the slowest people on the highway.
People that buy this have no need for practicability, and don’t want a station wagon. They just want a fun fast thing, and the sq8 seems like it’s for old people.
I think they honestly made the brakes massive and chose the larger wheels, to help with a problem that Audi has had for like 2 generations. It looks like just another Audi to me...
Piano gloss black mentioned at the one minute mark for anyone keeping score. Jack: “Do I have to bring up gloss black every single time? I really don’t care” Mark: “you don’t have to but like Turbowski, you are replaceable”
When you must have the most of the most and can’t trust that most isn’t most for you so you over most and you can’t back down now! So you keep mosting and don’t know how to stop.
This car isn't for the enthusiast, they'd buy an RS6. This isn't for the comfy practical family hauler guy, that's the SQ7. This isn't for the wealthy hot hatch fan boy, that's what the Macan GTS is for which will handle better with the improved practicality over a sedan. This is for the (small) crowd that can just toss money at something crazy like this and won't settle for something that doesn't have every option. It's also for the baller kind who want to show off their wealth and status, whether they actually have the wealth and/or status to afford this vs be able to buy it. This isn't a sensible car, but most things over 6 figures aren't.
Toyota introduced the basic idea of a cooperative electronically controlled chassis in 2005. Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management was, and still is a very similar system to this Audi ECC system.

Makes the RSQ8 a relative bargain, and when you de-badge it and skip all the carbon fiber man jewelry, it blends in nicely. Nobody is the wiser and you have a fine daily driver.
Mr. Geese review woooohooo
Mark, you are a RUclipsr with an audience. That's who you are sir.
I can 100% understand your point on "Just not necessary" although why the hell not? People may not want to drop $200K + on the Urus but want something bigger and taller considering most people are going with SUV's nowadays anyways. I'm in no position to buy this but just my two cents
This is what I need right now!
Solid honest review. Cheers.
I wish I had enough disposable income to buy a bullion hauler like this
I see one of these on my school drop off runs. It sounds like a beast, even at school zone speeds.

Are you sure you've looked at recent M products? Simple they aren't.
@@markmiller3279 the M products don’t use air suspension, active roll bars, or 4 wheel steering. So they’re certainly more simple than the Audi competition.
Gonna need a full version of that intro song
Here I am. Chewing on vitamin C and licking vitamin D from my fingers and watching an Audi review.
can we have a Q&A? it's been a while
I ate some bad Indian food last night but sitting on the toilet with this video has helped tremendously. My Bombay backdoor is buggered..
You could probably buy a loaded Q8 and a good sports car for the price of an RSQ8.
I supplement mine with a 1290 Super Duke R.
@@pan4632 You could get the RS6 for the dynamics of a sport car while having the Space of a Q7.
Your review was much better than your exposure settings.
Dont be that guy. They are excellent most every day. Maybe arbys was closed ?
"what a deal!"
Even Mark couldn't hold back the laughter.
Best intro music yet!
While I appreciate Mark's well thought out final thoughts, Jacks succinct "Jesus Christ" was probably all they needed on this one.
I said the same thing when comparing the Q8 to the Q7. I saw the same loss of space. It is a lot less space then the 7. The RS Q8 is a really cool looking vehicle. Like you I would step down to the S series and go with the S Q7. Thank you.
The only line this is crossing is using glossy black plastic.
On point.
this is the perfect vehicle for your side piece so she can flex at places like Whole foods, her gym, and starbucks
@@redheads604 lol 😂
@@redheads604 side piece.. i like it
The intro music makes me think that it's a remix of the ice cream truck song.
Jack: who your trainer? You gettin' swole bro!
Saw an RSQ8 parked in the DC Dulles airport last weekend. Impressive car!
RS Q8 and RS 6 would be my perfect garage...
Super SUVs will never not be stupid, but they make more sense if you think of them like a muscle car. Kind of a normal car but with a huge engine and good for going fast in a straight line.
Very premium, but I'll be holding out for the LGBTQRS8 coming out early next year.
@Just think They're a $2000 option, but if you're going premium you better go all the way.
I am signed up the the limited unicorn level launch edition. The screen with the gay bar / starbucks finder is quite impressive.
@@bethehammer0676 the matching skinny jeans are 700 dollars but so worth it.
No winter tire options?
This segment is something for everyone; not something good, but it's something. It's something some people insist is what they want, but it's just a watered down station wagon, a watered down hatchback, and a watered down SUV. Said people would be better served making a decisive decision to buy one or the other.
Everyone thinks of the CUVs as SUVs with less storage space...I think of them as sedans with great visibility with a huge amount of storage...my AMG-GLC has plenty of space my tennis, hockey, bowling, gym clothes, and golf clubs ...and some groceries and I'm sure a Q8 would too!
Having drove a Q7 across multiple states, a RSQ7 or SQ7 would be a better overall package if space is a factor.
This car is something I would expect from a rich guy in Dubai or something: where even the police has sportscars you need something even more ludicrous
Nothing but a flex car
I love the styling of this SUV! are there any other SUVs or cars with similar styling?
What specifically do you like about it?
Check out the RAV4 by Hyundai
God, when will this piano bs end.
Ford Maverick review soon? 👀
Great intro music!!!
Piano gloss black mentioned at the one minute mark for anyone keeping score.
Jack: “Do I have to bring up gloss black every single time? I really don’t care”
Mark: “you don’t have to but like Turbowski, you are replaceable”
Maybe once day the mfgs will start to listen if enough people gripe.
“…the 23” wheels which help me with my rap albums.” 😂😂😂💯
When Mark uses his hand to hide the smile. LOL
Needs more screens.
It depresses me to live in a world where this exists.
i know it is almost the same but the new Cayenne GT supposedly is even more insane on the road to fly...
Closest we will get to a urus review
When you must have the most of the most and can’t trust that most isn’t most for you so you over most and you can’t back down now! So you keep mosting and don’t know how to stop.
Completely agree. Seems way too compromised hence why I’ve got a Q7 which is quick enough for 99% of my driving and is v practical
I demand to have the bullion cam back!
I like this video, end of comment.
Toyota introduced the basic idea of a cooperative electronically controlled chassis in 2005. Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management was, and still is a very similar system to this Audi ECC system.
And was better
