    SF 6 is proving that when you have a universal system that all characters can utilize in a variety of ways it opens the doors for player expression.
    and the single player content is made to transfer you from it to going online.
    the base game characters are super wild i cant wait until the really weird dlc characters arrive.

      While I agree to an extent, I think this is underselling the work that the balance team did to make everything fit together so well. If we take something like DBFZ version 1.0 as a comparison, there are some incredibly strong system mechanics that every character share, like reflect, superdash, air movement, snap, raw tag, vanish, but the balance at launch was TERRIBLE.
      So basically what I’m trying to say is that, yes, the underlying infrastructure and framework of the game is super important, but to make sure that every character fits well into the game, while still being unique and strong is a pretty difficult task, but I think they nailed it with SF6.

      The fun thing is that the Drive system is so robust that the devs can afford to balance play around buffing weaker characters than nerfing strong characters. Because the Drive system introduces an element of risk with anyone's playstyle that a stronger character only benefits from even as an opponent.

    One other thing I think is worth mentioning is that it's a blessing that modern controls exist and function as well as they do. I know they're divisive in some circles of the game but as a disabled player I have always wanted to but could never get into a fighting game before SF6. I have limited mobility in my hands especially but with modern taking some (most) of that stress off it really opens up the mind game layer and puts it at the forefront. I thought for sure that Zelda would end up being my goty this year without a doubt, but here I am thinking about and playing SF6 almost every single day since it launched. It's been awesome to discover that not only can I play this fighting game, but I'm actually pretty solid at it even in ranked play. I can't praise or thank Capcom enough for it, honestly.

    I think the thing that really resonates with me is what Max has said in the past: "fun is allowed," and when he said something to the effect of "let people do cool shit, choices matter and you have to deal with trying to juggle a bunch of them because there aren't always easy answers." Is what really does it for me in SF6. It's easy enough to understand a lot of the mechanics, but the mental stack is rough but also engaging and super rewarding when you make the right choices.

    • @ryo-kai8587
      @ryo-kai8587 Год назад +4

      I think the fact that the mental stack is kinda too big to actively consider everything at once is why it's always so engaging, and doesn't show signs of getting old any time soon. It has less of a "flowchart" feeling and more of a sense of freedom and expression-but you have to learn to predict your opponent and make reads as well as reactions due to the sheer amount of possibilities at any given time. This also makes conditioning your opponent especially powerful since you have so many options.

    For me it's simple, SF6 brought me back into the Fighting games thing. The last time I had this much fun (and last time I dedicated this much time, indeed) with a Fighting game was all the way back to the MK2, UMK3, Killer Instinct and Alpha 2 years (early and mid 90s Fighters is the last time I enjoyed Fighting games). I now have around 70+ hours in World Tour and I'm having a blast just doing Avatar battles. The basic game itself (outside of Avatar and World Tour) is also amazing. I really enjoy playing Cammy and Luke. I love the character designs (or re-designs), love the Stages, the soundtrack is amazing, the animations are extremely fluid, the fighting mechanics are excellent and the game provides everything a newbie would and could possibly need and ask for to learn how to play.
    It's... it's perfect. It's just perfect, what can I say. The last Fighting game (to go with a specific one) that did that to me was OG Arcade Killer Instinct, not exaggerating at all with this and that means a lot to me, since KI '94 is basically my favorite Fighting game of all time, probably still is but now SF6 is an extremely serious contender for me.

    One thing about throw loops in sf6 is that in addition to countering parry, its less threatening without a stun gauge compared to sfv. Throws count to stun in sfv which made it a lot scarier when stun gauge was high. Since sf6 doesnt have stun gauge anymore, you dont have to worry about stun and you can just worry about taking the throw or making the guess without consequence of stun gauge.

    One thing that I feel absolutely cannot be understated is also just how many new players there are who are coming from different fighting game backgrounds with the inclusion of modern controls (myself included). It's been an amazing feeling, being able to jump into a street fighter game with the controls on my terms and feel my knowledge growing with every game, and feeling myself adapt from playstyles I had learned in games like SSB. All this combined with some of the most satisfying VFX I've seen for a fighting game makes me want to come back and play more in a way I've never felt before. I just hit 27 hours tonight and I can say that I love this game and want to see it flourish in the future.

    I love the fact that there’s a very minimal type of comeback mechanic. The CA damage is a bit much at times but it’s not a sure comeback like some of the other mechanics newer fighting games have. A come back in this game requires skill

    • @fluidthought42
      @fluidthought42 Год назад

      The problem with the other fighting games is that their comeback mechanics makes it almost a punishment to be better at the game than your opponent, since you _have_ to be at low health to do the really cool shit. Sure, you can burn resources to do cooler combos (but only if you time it correctly in an already timing intensive task), but that's just not the same as spending a super bar to annihilate your opponent is it? SF6 gives you both the bar to do cooler combos (without the annoying hurdle of finding the right timing in the preexisting move to do the thing) and also a super bar that rewards your patience and skill with a move that can either top off your dominance with style or save you in your most desperate moments.

    • @ryo-kai8587
      @ryo-kai8587 Год назад +1

      Yeah, I was just thinking about the difference between CA and Lv3 versus something like the revenge meter from SFIV; the difference between a bit of extra damage and an entire extra Super is huge. Just the little edge to help a comeback that CA offers is actually a great mechanic and adds tension to a match.

    • @AnhDonoi
      @AnhDonoi Год назад

      To be fair, i wouldn’t even call it a comeback mechanic as you need to build the bar in order obtain the CA. To me, CA is guaranteed each round (X factor, v trigger, ultra)

      @@AnhDonoi yea you're right i dont consider CA a comeback mechanic either. thats whats great about it. yea it does extra damage but its not gonna one shot someone like mvc 3 and xfactor haha. it was lame to see someone dominate all game just to have 1 character wipe out the whole time cause of x factor.

    I got SF6 very recently, and just for warmup decided to start with the WT mode because while I played SF4 a lot, I'm very rusty.
    I haven't even gotten to multiplayer yet, the single player mode kept me engaged. I don't think I've ever actually played single player in FGs before for any reason other than character unlocks, but this one is actually fun, which is crazy.

But what I HAVE done, is spend most of my time off of work going through World Tour. It. Is. AMAZING. Now, I'm playing it on PS4 (my only option, unfortunately) and besides the long load times and textures (and NPC's) not loading in all the way at times, it's been a fucking blast. Right now I'm trying to get a hybrid Shoto build, using Ken's style with some Ryu and Luke moves thrown in.

    Honestly I was in the same place. I keep third strike on my portable and would play that all day over 4 or 5. Third strike and Alpha 3 were my favorites. Sf6 is the definitive fighter for this season. I am curious to see what mk and tekken have up their sleeves but they have some pretty big shoes to fill. Love that drive rush allows you to do everything from fighting spammers, extending combos and really love how we no longer have to choose between ex moves and our supers. Also drive impact always keeps you on edge. Its like you know both you and your opponent have a loaded gnn but when to use it... thats the question. Too predictable and youll get countered.... and if you dont know how to use it... youll get jacked up in the corners.
    Just awesome.

    I think the most impressive thing about this game is that people aren't still holding on to previous titles. Like when SFIV came out, you still had tons of people wanting to play Third Strike instead. When SFV came out, you had tons of people still wanting to play SFIV. But with SF6? Everybody's playing SF6 right now. SF6 has managed to unite fans of Street Fighter, new and old, under one game.

    i think the drive meter is the best! you can’t spam block or any defensive option too much, but also you can’t spam DI or DR because you’ll go into burnout. now there’s this mini game about understanding how much drive they have and how much you should use. also i’m glad throws are strong and you can’t just tech it every time unless you know they’re going for a throw. now there’s more potential for mixups. overall this is the most fun i’ve had in a fighting game since i was a teenager playing MKX
