As someone who sucks at fighting games but loves SF lore this has been the game ive been waiting for
It's been 11 months. What's your thoughts on it today from since you started?

I’m pretty surprised Makoto isn’t season 1 DLC. She would fit in the game extremely well but I suppose there’s probably going to be several years of DLC opportunities for this game.
There's no SF3 characters... in a SF3 follow-up. 🤌

@@redacted2275 To be fair, the only people calling it a "SF3 follow-up" is the fans. The only thing the devs have said about it, is that it takes place after SF3 in the timeline. But they've never made SF3 any kind of focal point in any of the marketing.
It's more like a follow-up to 5, which also takes place after 3's timeline in parts too.
I will be genuinely baffled if she doesn't make it in. She's an instant main for me (tomboy supremacy), but even aside from that it'll be crazy if she's not part of the 2nd year DLC characters. Weird that Ed is DLC instead of Dudley or Sagat too.
I still hope she will come along earlier rather than later.
It might sound weird but I’ve always liked watching the animated movies more than playing the games because I really like the characters but couldn’t figure out how to play them all that well. Getting to hang out with them all while learning the mechanics is why I decided to finally take 6 seriously.
Also when Haggar’s not around everyone should be asking “Where’s Haggar?”.
Similar sitch. I love the world building (even had the SFII comics from when the SNES champs edition was current) but am largely trash tier. Only in Alpha or SFIII did i get to decent, thanks to Guy and Dudley.
So the chance to just chill and run around sounds neat.
This exactly. I love the characters in SF but suck so bad at fighting games. World tour mode looks like something I can enjoy.
I get you because the animated movies are pretty darn good, have you watched street fighter 2 V(dunno why they put the V in the name) also? It's an old anime from the 90s, it's way too good to not be as popular as 4's animated OVAs.
Haggar should be louder, angrier, and have access to a time machine.
@@fedupN I can ditto this sentiment as well even as someone who started out in the very first iteration of SF2 in Kindergarten (yes I have been playing fighting games for that long). The Alpha series largely helped me get good at a Street Fighter game and fighting games in general, and it's good to see more fighting games taking accessibility and single player experiences seriously and make them enjoyable.
The beta was like, miles ahead SFV, it's insane how much this game moved forward. Hyped for Friday
It's not like this is new for your videos Matt, but I just want to say I appreciate your honesty in expressing that you didn't have a character you click with or that the music doesn't do it for you. It's not like you're saying either of those things are bad in any way, just that you were left wanting in those areas. I'm always happy to hear that kind of clarity without complete disregard for things that aren't up your alley.
i don't really have much experience with fighting games since i don't have a console, but the idea of raising friendship points with these knuckleheads by alternately learning their techniques, punching the right people or gifting them valentine's day chocolates is kinda adorable
I played the hell out of Alpha 3 and been wishing for a worthy follow-up to world tour. I'm so glad to hear this worked out, going to preorder now. Hopefully they get to adding a lot more characters (Give me Karin).
Same here. Been waiting for what, 20 years. And this is a worthy successor for sure.
Always thought it was about time someone made a fighting game like this. Or rather one that changes things up with these types of non-fighter-game mechanics.
Anyways, I hope we get a bunch of more "out there" reps in this one! My favourite characters are always the ones like Hakan, Necro, Twelve, Q (or G for that matter), and Oro. I tend to feel the "regular human guy in Gi shirt number 7" gets pretty boring pretty fast.
I hope Necro comes back as well, though I would like to see some special moves change and added. Hakan is way cool as well

I was thinking about how SF6 needs to bring back essentially all the characters that got introduced in SF4 and many of the SF3 characters. They definitely would be a decent fit for this iteration of Street Fighter.

Had to note, regarding Haggar: I am in total agreement. I would even trade in a Hugo to get a Haggar, no questions about condition or anything.
Not sure if I'm the first to say this but there's a bus stop in the west side of the city so you don't have to use the metro. Not sure if this was added in the day one patch or something but I've been playing for hours and I've only ever had to use the subway once
Same. Bus fast travel makes the subway a non-issue.

It’s really nice to see Capcom come back in full swing with SF6. This is looking to be the next standard in modern fighting games indeed! So far this has been a good year for the company. But perhaps now, they can open up the rest of their legacy games to get similar treatment.
I would've loved to see Makoto in the launch roster too. Really hope she'll be added in season 2 at the very least.
I really like the launch roster but I'll probably skip the first round of dlc characters. Maybe I'll buy A.K.I if she impresses and isn't just reskinned F.A.N.G, and while I've never played Akuma, who knows maybe he is too cool to ignore. While I respect Ed and Rashid they just aren't for me.
I am also REALLY hoping to see Makoto, she just seems like she'd fit perfectly with the drive mechanic and I want to see how they handle her. I feel like she'd be perfect for this game. It would be a huge missed opportunity if she isn't announced for season 2.
11:27 I think the reason World Tour ends abruptly is because it was confirmed every single dlc character Capcom is adding to the game is being added to World Tour mode as Masters and with more story being added. So it'd be kinda silly for it to just fully end considering they're going to be adding so much more to it. They didn't say if they'd add more hub worlds with the dlc characters but that might be a possibility
This game isn't worth buying for a year or two imo

Very happy about your thoughts on the single player modes specially arcade mode being worth playing again. I'll be very busy with world tour, arcade and combo trials before I jump to online play.

Dope! I'm a Guilty Gear player flirting with the idea of picking up SF6 so I'm glad you're putting your opinion out there. I think Cammy's badonk at 15:25 might be enough to convince me, but the package as a whole looks really interesting and I'm leaning towards getting it!

Watching this review really fills me with pure excitement. I have loved fighting games for a real long time but more often than not, found it difficult to jump in as I'm absolutely awful at them. I mean the last fighter I really invested myself in was Tekken Tag Tournament 1. So hearing how open this is to newbies and completely incompetent idiots like me, gets me drooling over how many hours I will be putting in. Great review and looking forward to a great experience!
World tour mode feels like part Dead Rising, part Final Fight with a Street Fighter theme. It's really fun.
I knew this was gonna be a good game but seeing so many good reviews, and now one from you, is such good reassurance!
I do agree with you on the base roster though. I'll probably be playing Cammy, Chun-Li, Juri, Ryu and A.K.I, once she gets released, but my favourite characters in the series (Poison, Elena, Laura, Menat, Viper) seem to either be "one and done" deals or only be reserved for DLC spots (we're gonna pay extra for Poison for a third time in a row and we know it!)
THANK you for the Dead or Alive reference about gift to icing as a means to make people like you. Tomonobu Itagaki really taught us how to make friends all the way back in the 00s 🤣
I grew up playing mostly Tekken and a bit of DOA2 and SoulCalibur, and didn't really get into SF until much later, but I've been falling deeper and deeper in love with Street Fighter with each new installment since IV ♥️
I’m gonna spend the first few days or even weeks just goofing around in World Tour, trying out movesets and meeting the characters!
I’m also a big Luke fan so I hope he sticks around for more than just one game

It's actually so nice to see someone actually say they like Luke. I don't like how he plays but I love the character himself, I think he's a really good fit for a new generation. He's a lil goofy but he's a good guy, I like him.

I was looking at your WT footage and thinking it looked like it'd be similar to that Konquest mode, so I'm glad you mentioned it - I thought Deception's Konquest was great fun even if its mechanics weren't the smoothest.
Been a while since I pre-ordered a game, I just knew I had after my experience in both closed betas. Definitely picking up Juri since she's my secondary usually with Bison as my main, but in SF6's case I'll give JP a whirl as while a zoner I still have some sort of Psycho Power squeeze. I'm crossing for fingers for Bison DLC like a Shadaloo Fighter Pack or something though.

So hyped for this, I come from Smash and just recently started picking up traditional fighting games and I have to say after playing the demo I was hooked. You only get 2 characters and stages, but I've already put around 10 hours into the demo fighting the cpu and playing with a friend of mine, so I can't wait for the full release.

My issue with the new music is that... Is just hip-hop. Elevator sounding ahh hip-hop. Third-strike was full on with hip-hop aesthetic but it wasn't just that nor was it conservative with its sound. Third strike had jungle, drum and bass, nu funk; it experimented with the new sounds of the rave and club scene and mixed that with character and stage fitting motifs and instrumentation that made the tunes immediately recognizable. It was varied in style, tempo and instrumentation while SF6 everything kinda blends in together

As a Hugo main in III and IV, I can’t tell you my pain when you listed like seven Final Fight characters and none of them were Hugo.
I was really not excited for this game when it was first announced because SFV had really turned me off. But wow, they really turned things around and gave us the vibrancy and personality that the series has been missing since the 2D days. It looks absolutely beautiful, the RE Engine is no joke. Awesome review Matt!

I will probably spend double that doing a lot of back tracking and fighting everyone I can. Going to be doing so much exploring after unlocking the traversal moves. Lol

The game might have its flaws, but it is just what we needed after SF V.
A return to form. A return to a former state of success and greatness.
Its good to see Capcom respecting single player gameplay, if this World Tour mode is that good, then Tekken 8 and MK1 will have to bring their big guns if they are to keep up. Of course, Namco could always bring something interesting later with a potential Soul Calibur 7, but that probably won't happen anytime soon.
I remember that first teaser last year for SF6. I was...cautiously optimistic. Then the State of Play trailer happened in June and the hype levels went through the damn roof. Now after a closed and open beta and the demo, I am more ready to get my hands on this game than any other fighting game in my life. Especially since this is looking to be the highest rated SF ever.
"Cautiously optimistic" is exactly how I'd put my attitude at that time as well. I was thinking "Okay, not everything looks great, but...even if it's a major stylistic shift, it DOES feel like they're at least putting a lot of effort into this, which is more than I could say for SF5." Then they start showing the game off and I'm like..."oh, fuck, I'm actually excited for Street Fighter again. The hype train is actually rolling."
Th world tour mode actually reminds me of that old capcom game Beat Down Fist of Vengeance

I was never into Street Fighter. I think I played SF4 like once on the 3DS and that was probably it. I’ve always been more interested in BlazBlue and Guilty Gear. However, SF6 always looked pretty cool (especially when they showed off Juri :). You talking about this game and especially the World Tour absolutely sold me. SF6 will be my first Street Fighter and I’m excited! Thanks Matt. You da best.

I tried the newest monster hunter and had high hopes for it. As a souls fan I thought for sure I would enjoy it. But the combat felt so bad. Having something walk 2 feet to the left and not being able to free aim or adjust your swing seems like a odd choice to me. Any advice?

Onimusha 2 had a bonding system same way by finding items that could then be gifted. You had to choose carefully because they had preferences and would accept or even decline them.
Met with very mix opinions on things did with 2, I loved the slight more RPG like stuff they tried in it which they later in the series would become very RPG heavy traits for an action adventure game.
so how well does it feel to play on a keyboard? i'm a PC player without a controller on stand-by at the moment
I get you are looking for the total package characters, however, I think having pros and cons in each character is what makes a fighting game unique. Having that 1 unicorn character just make it dull

I use to play ST ALOT years ago and kinda stopped at 3rd impact. But Oooooh boy, I dunno know why, but this street fighter 6 has really brought me back into the franchise! I'm sooo ready to play this game, mainly the world tour mode! And seeing you play it, I am beyond excited!! TY MATT!!

I was not going to pick up this game despite me having hopes for this game but after playing the World Tour briefly in the demo and then tried the Open Beta with my friends using crossplay, I'm definitely getting it

Are rewards different for beating arcade by fighting less opponents? I want to beat all 18 characters story modes as quick as possible, but I don't want to miss out on any rewards.
I wasn't 100% sure on that. I did both round numbers, and I don't think it unlocked more than the other? Didn't do deep dive testing yet though.

I like WT but is very small and even though I have explored every corner i feel they could have done more.
There are places you think you can go, but theres a invisible wall and breaks the immersion.
Many locations feel out of place: E.Honda shouldn't be right next to Chinatown, like you mentioned the subway takes you 2 or 3 blocks you can easily walk when it could've take you to another map like they did in Nayshall going up the mountain.

Finally I see someone referencing MK Deception when talking about World Tour. It's been the first thing on my mind ever since Capcom first shown this mode.
This might be my first fighting game. The training thing you showed looks like it significantly lowers the barrier for entry. And even if I get my butt handed to me hard I can single player. Yeah I might try this

I like fighting games, but I'm terrible in them, but I really enjoyed the way that game embraces the players.
Can you customize the character's customes? (like in Tekken 7)
The only SF game I've really enjoyed putting in some effort to learn was 3rd strike. Hoping this one will be able to scratch that itch a bit!
Shame about not finding a character you click with. I'm just looking forward to playing as everyone with all these added tools. I am bummed there isn't a Sean or Remy as they both seem like they would work well with this aesthetic.
Maybe they are saved for future dlc 🤔
