This man was definitely before his time. He's on my radio as I type this in March of 2023. I love his sound and skill of putting a song right.

He reminds me a little of Bob Dylan, with a bluegrass, or country style. My favorite song of his was/is Angel from Montgomery. I didn't have any idea who he was until I researched that song. Wow... It just blew me away.

Bob Dylan wishes he could write like John Prine, Prine's the real deal, not a pretender like Dylan became, I am a fan of Dylan too, but not of the stuff he made after he found Jesus Christ, or after he went back to being Jewish, he was praised so much that he believed he himself was truly brilliant, art isn't helped by this obsession of competition that people have, if you're trying to recapture the success you had then you're not making art for the right reasons, the art will turn into crap, compare John Prine to The Eagles, are The Eagles songs so much greater? Nope, they are so much worse than John Prine's songs because his songs he made for himself, songs that had lyrics that he cared for, not words that some producer cared for.
I don't have the words to communicate my theories, I just sound like an arrogant wanker, I swear I'm not, LOL but how can I know that for sure? Because my life isn't a success and nobody has ever said I have made a good point, instead I've heard I'm a nutcase, but that doesn't mean a thing,.
Success, money and popularity are not good indicators of the arts quality, wealthy people end up addicted to that success, every bit as detrimental as heroin addiction, maybe worse, because the junkies don't lie and cheat as many people as the once superstar or successful people when they try to get their next fix, like the sports star that will lie cheat and steal, even murder others to protect their status, their image, am I making sense?

The Kitchen Table is more important than the White House.
...It's close to the fridge, too.

Neil Young was my favorite musician and song writer. John Prine comes in a very close second. I saw him playing in a bar in Lexington Ky. back in the 80's. A nice night of John Prine music. I know that Young and Prine were a lot different, but both could write songs and sing and play them in their own way.
