John Prine has been the best songwriter you never heard of since the late 1960s. I've been a fan since 1976. He's one of those talents who has just kept pumping out the gems decade after decade, but rarely got mainstream play until fairly recently. His popularity has soared in recent years. And he is a seemingly tireless worker, touring more than just about anyone. If you like his music, you've got about 50 years worth to experience. He writes many catchy tunes, but you've got to enjoy lyrics, because that's where the real magic in his music lies. Many of his fans, me included, feel as though he has written the soundtrack to their lives, that's how well he connects with people through his music. In my mind, he is definitely a National Treasure, and he needs to survive this. He's got to.

I don’t know that there’s been a week since all this started that I haven’t watched this video. Beautiful, heartbreaking, and innately prophetic all at the same time. I love this video; please never delete it.

I both love and hate this video. Love because it’s just a magical performance!!! Hate because the world is so much a sadder place without John and seeing him happy here makes me cry every.single.time. It’s an odd thing to say because I never met him but I feel like one of my best friends is gone.
God, how I miss John. 😔
