Not a weapon, but there is something REALLY important that is missing from modern Monster Hunter games: Sleeping in the damn bed Dude, jumping in your bed while wearing over-the-top spiked armors is an iconic moment in Monster Hunter games, *LET ME SLEEP IN MY BED DAMNNIT!*
The funniest thing about Magnet Spike is that despite the Magnet Pin having an absurd MV what truly made the pin attack busted was that it could completely immobilize any monster including endgame threats. Solo this means nothing, in multiplayer it's 100% free damage and said damage gets really crazy in Frontier endgame.
@@LloydTheZephyrian 700 I believe, but even then it's only busted if playing with others since pinning the monster opens it to free damage to the other 3 players.
MS pin cant be used on the most challenging monsters however the musous are completely immune and so are ruko and rebidiora but thats understandable seeing as how there the magnetic elder dragon and electro magnetic elder dragon
@@LloydTheZephyrian lets see, max charged tcs in latest mh game which is rise-break is around 250 -260 ish iirc, and the mv for the magnet pin is 600 at base, and can be increased to 700
I would love a couple more options for impact melee combat, especially the Tonfas, and I think that the mix'n'match of Tri made Bowguns a lot more exciting to play around with
They could implement so many types of new weapons which would be incredibly hype. I want the Tonfa at least for future games since it already has been part of the MH Frontier and we got Espinas recently^^
Tonfas sound fun. I'm a dual blade user because I'm a fan of the mobility, but it would be nice to have a fast bludgeoning weapon for those monsters that are resistant to slashing.
I've been thinking for years that these weapons should get added to the main games (including the chain whip from the manga), since it would be crazy to just leave all the moveset data and assets laying around doing nothing. Obviously they would need to have those movesets toned down a bit to balance them out with the other weapons and not be overpowered... except I don't think they even have to do much of that now. We've reached the point with the mainline games in Rise/Sunbreak where movement and weapon complexity is almost at the same level as these things were, so just balancing the MVs of them might be enough now. Either way, I want to see them, that Accel Axe in particular, so here's hoping they get brought back into the series!
Technically, there's a fifth weapon you forgot to mention, but it has been used much more recently in MHGU; the Prowler. Technically, it's an entirely new weapon type with many variantions, though it's specifically not much of a weapon and more of changing your character. Still, it acts like a new weapon in gameplay and mechanics.
I main Tonfas (playing via a fan server) and while I would love them in mainline I wonder how they'd keep the mechanics intact with mounting being a thing in mainline. You really don't want to mount with Tonfas since you want to build up Dragon Spirit on the head, body, and tail on a monster to gain the full benefits from the Dragon Spirit Piercer. The buffs gained from triggering the explosions include Head = Extended KO duration Body = sharpness restoration for everyone near the monster Tail = a bleed effect that causes the monster to take constant damage for a bit and makes it easier to cut tails. You also gain infinite EX Gauge and Damage Multiplier and the duration depends on how many parts you got Dragon Spirit built up. Also they're the only blunt weapons in the franchise capable of cutting tails.
desperately needs a skill or even just an option to disable mounting with your loadout. if they can add other 'quality of life' i think this ones overdue.
they would probably be reworked to accomodate the new wirebug system, i doubt if they brought them back they'd let you be the constantly airborne menace that tonfa's were in frontier
Tonfas and Accel Axe should both make a return in the mainline series for a lot of reasons. the main one for Tonfa would be that it's basically Dual Blades for blunt damage, which is a playstyle is that is absent in the base game and would be appreciated alongside even having another blunt primary option besides hammer and hunting horn. The accel Axe would mostly be to actually have a proper axe in the games instead of just having the axe/greatsword hybrid and because the concept of the accel axe would allow it to possibly do straight-up similar damage to greatsword while being MUCH faster.
@@wishdere nah I like the QoL improvements in World/Rise too much. Tried playing Generations Ultimate on the Switch and didn't click with it at all lol
While I had heard of the Tonfa and the Medium Bowgun, I had never heard of the other two until I saw this video. And now that I have seen it, I'm now interested in the Tonfa, the Accel Axe, and the Magnet Spike. I hope these weapons make a return in a future installment.
As a tonfa and magnet spike enjoyer (was), both are awesome in it's own right. Both have the movement agility of an insect glaive while having different feel at the same time.
Prowlers were pretty neat too, and it kinda makes me sad. Rise ported the system and all the skills for the palicos and palamutes that were built for genxx, and missed the point for prowlers to come back. I don't care what my palico has save for one or two skills now.
Wish you talked about the boxing playstyle of tonfas, similar to long gunlance you could charge your punches into pressurized uppercuts rather than the fast air anime punches, you'd get a lot more KO's and really maximize the impact damage on the head
Honestly with the current power the hunter has in Rise/Sunbreak I can see the Tonfa and Magnet Spike returning. The wirebugs give crazy mobility and skills so they can balance those 2 weapons (mainly the spike) behind some wirebugs, or whatever thing they will use to limit the moveset in the next game. But yeah, hunters flying around at crazy speed with brutal power is nothing new.... on the other hand, the lance will be left even further behind
Long and short forms for the tonfas also have opposite hit values for each part of the monster, allowing constant top damage potential. And they can sever tails with the y+b/triangle+circle impact if you get enough tail strikes beforehand. They're an absolute blast to play and I really hope they make it into the next mainline game
If were gonna talk new weapons I've always wanted a giant shuriken for both ranged and close combat obviously depending on what monster parts are used it could have slicing or blunt attacks and throwing it would use stamina.
As much as I want to see these weapons in the mainline series. There is just no way they would be added unless we get a faster paced mh game or the nerf the weapons which honestly I don't want a downgrade of these weapons. Nerfing these weapons just to fit the mainline series would probably be removing what made these weapons unique in their respective games cause they are absolutely busted especially magnet spike.
If they ever add magnet spike, I think the best way to make it balanced is by making the boomerang and hammer deal less damage in exchange for its fast paced attacks/combo. Also they should rework the magnet pin to just pinning the monster, and not being able to burst them with the finisher. The infinite clutch claw is enough
I once did my own research about those weapons for a particular reason. The number of weapon-types does not match the number of weapons. There are 5 heavy 5 technical and 4 light weapons. As soon as I realized that my inner monk just died. But putting the accel axe to heavy, the magnet spike to technical and the last two to light (despite medium is not really light) would actually fix this insane problem.
TBH I'd love to see the Accel axe return in Wilds as like, a new mainstay weapon like the Charge Blade maybe the Accel Axe would be more of a hyper-mobile weapon that has a snowball effect the more you hit a monster
I would love to have tonfa as a usable weapon. I am a big martial arts fan and enjoy monk and fighter classes in fantasy that use their fists. So I was talking with my friends that if I got to design a weapon, it would be the "hunter gauntlets." Pretty much the same idea with the tonfa that it would be fast like dual blades but would be focused on KOing the monster like hammer with good air mobility since there would be no actual weapon on your way. And since tonfa is pretty much just that I would love to see it return
A weapon I would like to see would be a giant boomerang. Can be used at close range similar to the GS like HH to the Hammer or used at Long range for slower, heavier hits than the bowguns or bow.
It be great to get the tonfas back in there also I'd like Magical powers wizard type or a monster trainer type he'll be riding a smaller teenager monster to do his attacks or tank airplane or car mechanic type where you drive vehicles to do your damage
While not super a exciting weapon, I like the idea of why Medium Bowgun exists. Maybe not every weapon could benefit from its mechanic, but it's cool to think about mishmashing different parts of different monsters. I could see it working on Dual Blades, with you choosing a different blade for each hand. Switch Axe and Charge Blade being able to swap phials and maybe have them tackle a different aspect of a monster (ex.: Khezu Weapons are initially Thunder elem., but you could swap for Paralyzis).
I figured we would talk about prowlers. They where considered a weapon if you looked at the guild card. The to get them now would also mean a palimute mode as well. also I have always wanted the tonfa to be in the newer games. They always looked so fun to use.

If they were to implement medium bowguns, how would they? One idea I had was if they had the tri system just for medium bowgun (light and heavy bowguns are seperated like how they are now) and that each monster had their own parts. It would be up to the player to decide how they want their medium bowgun. I wished gen had it since I read from a forum that they were supposed to be in the game but was scrapped. Other than that I truly wish these weapons see the light of day again.

Gawd I miss MH3 bowling crafting. Got into it too late cause like most I stuck with blademaster armors until I made a second character for it. I still go back just for that and novelty of underwater combat.
We need another game on all platforms like world, with some of the wire bug stuff from Rise, and then every weapon they've ever had, just a massive Monster Hunter game, like how Smash Bros ultimate brought back all the old characters
I really want a pugilism weapon. Almost a cross between dual blades, and sword and shield, but weapons imbue your hunter with the spirit of the monster that weapon was crafted from. e.g., Spirit of Nargacuga would give you faster combos, Spirit of Basarios would give you more defense, Spirit of Tigrex would give you more attack, plus of course the usual elements/statuses. I don't want a medium bowguns. I want a modernized version of the bowgun crafting. The mods from iceborne was amazing and I would love to have the crafting and mods back again in a modern design space.
I would like to see the tonfa and the magnet spike in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak and to see what kind of new skills and silk bind moves and switch skill could be incorpreated into those weapons.
that would never happen, in their original form they already had such insane mobility that they didn't even need to be tied into such mechanics. such weapons should stay in frontier, if you want to use them, play that instead.
main line tonfa cmoonn, of course adjusting the mv and its ko values, but also make its aerial combo has bigger mv so its not ended up like ig, although I like ig in worldborne and sunbreak
Capcom really needs to add these weapons to the game. It’s such a miss not adding them to the main series at this point. I can only use the same weapons for so long lol. Movesets aren’t cutting it for me anymore.
I really do want tonfa's rebalanced for actual MH content. a 3rd imp weapon would be great. specially a DB speed imp weapon. while I think the "weakness direction reversal" switch is a lil silly. (long mode makes head resistant and tail weak. instead of the usual head weakpoint) I can still see the whole "impact blast" being pretty strong set like a CB IED.
Would love to see the Tonfas in MH6 despite not being a Dual Blades main but that Magnet Spike tho *bites lips* oh yass, MH6 better have that weapon there or don't bother bringing back Barioth and Brachydios (Nargacuga's fine, I like Narga) but a new weapon type would be cool too say maybe the Umbrella (i'm watching you Wild Hearts) Sidenote LBG doesn't feel that needed anymore considering HBG exist

that would never happen, in their original form they already had such insane mobility that they didn't even need to be tied into such mechanics. such weapons should stay in frontier, if you want to use them, play that instead.
What about the hunting horn
Give me classic HH 😭😭
At least let it be an option
Aside from medium bowgun, the others look so not fitting on the monster hunter series, eveb though i find magnet spike very cool
Tonfas please , i would like another option of Dual Wielding unlike two handed , shield and weapon or ranged we only have 1 option of dual wield
I WANT A STAND ALONE SPEAR.. A HEXAGON STAFF.. A CROSSBOW.. A PURE AXE WEAPON..
Video about missing weapons. No mention of Prowlers! I am angry!
As an HBG main, the MBG seems kinda pointless but I've only played World so if anyone has played MBG, let me know what it's like
Would be great to have knuckle weapons on here.
After trying magnet spike, I don’t want it in mainline. It’s really good, but it's too good.
main line tonfa cmoonn, of course adjusting the mv and its ko values, but also make its aerial combo has bigger mv so its not ended up like ig, although I like ig in worldborne and sunbreak
Capcom really needs to add these weapons to the game. It’s such a miss not adding them to the main series at this point. I can only use the same weapons for so long lol. Movesets aren’t cutting it for me anymore.
or just play the games they are featured in? they're not coming anytime soon
Ummmmmm, I’m sorry, where is prowler mode?
I want the Prowler/Nyanta option back.
I really do want tonfa's rebalanced for actual MH content.
a 3rd imp weapon would be great. specially a DB speed imp weapon.
while I think the "weakness direction reversal" switch is a lil silly. (long mode makes head resistant and tail weak. instead of the usual head weakpoint)
I can still see the whole "impact blast" being pretty strong set like a CB IED.
i would rather pay for a DLC like this where we actually have REAL weapons instead of layers, they look amazing and really fun to use 👌
Would love to see the Tonfas in MH6 despite not being a Dual Blades main but that Magnet Spike tho *bites lips* oh yass, MH6 better have that weapon there or don't bother bringing back Barioth and Brachydios (Nargacuga's fine, I like Narga) but a new weapon type would be cool too say maybe the Umbrella (i'm watching you Wild Hearts)
Sidenote LBG doesn't feel that needed anymore considering HBG exist
sounds like you should just play frontier instead
Frontier can keep the magnet spike...
I need the chain sword from the manga!
Some of these weapons look just SO cool but I can't see them coexisting with the ones that we already have without a several amount of nerfs.
