Hi, Adam Great video. I like it very much. Thank you. I am really impressed by your abilities to explain such complicated things in such a simple way. You're a great teacher. Really. I'd like to ask you to make a video about punctuation, please. Thank you in advance and happy new year). Russia is watching you).
in the last example, i feel very confused how to identifying the main subject and main verb, why it’s at the bottom of the paragraph ? i can’t understand that. could you please give me more details ? thank you so much!
Hi, Adam. I've been told that some words directly take the gerunds after them, e.g, busy, deny, discuss etc. e.g, He was busy preparing for the exams. The boys were busy playing. He will deny stealing that car. We discussed buying a bigger apartment. Are "preparing", "playing", "stealing" and "buying" gerunds?
It would be really helpful if we can get the slide or note you showed on the screen. I have to watch twice, one for the note, another one to listen. Your videos are great and help us a lot. Thanks
Thank you so much. I have completed 11 of your video and it does take some time to type those note. You can put the note in your own website. I would love to pay for them if they have more contents. I think your effort deserve to get something in return.
Hi, thanks for your videos. I have a question I hope you can help me... which of these two sentences is correct? Our senses use some organs in our body TO teach us to learn, to protect and to enjoy our world. Our senses use some organs in our body THAT teach us to learn, to protect and to enjoy our world. Thanks a lot!
If I am correct, the first sentence shows reason for the action (Our senses use some organs .... (in order) to teach us....) but the second sentence describes a quality of the organs themselves and their ability to teach (Our senses use some organs...that teach us....) So we could say: The teacher uses examples (in order) to show us.... Or The teacher uses examples that show us.... The first example shows the reason the teacher uses the examples, the second describes what the examples show. So it depends what you are hoping to say in your sentence. I hope this helps, though I am not 100% sure, so quite happy to be corrected :)
Dear Adam, First and foremost, let me say thanks a million for your great videos which I have just stumbled across. In the sentence below, I wonder if I should use "opened" or "open" Thank you for your kind help. Wow wow. Very nice video. Thank you so much.
Consider "I know (what you like)."
Here, is 'what, you like' an inverted clause?
Is 'what you like' = 'you like what'?
