Thank you a lot for such an advanced grammar lesson Mr.Adam. I always thought that my English is good, but after watching this video I’ve found out how much more I got to improve. I’ll keep it up, rewatch this video, and move to the next parts straight after mastering this one. Thank you again!
A very useful tutorial for both seasoned writers and the rest of grades. Once again you nailed it, and you explained it in a very clear manner. Thank you very much. You are everything a teacher/tutor should be.
Yes, you are good. In the example of The retreat costs include accommodations, all meals, and local transportation but not flights or taxes. No need comma before but because avoid comma when connect clause and phrase
What an amazing class! Thank you for all the videos including this one, which will be essential for me to improve my writing for IELTS. It would be awesome to also learn more about the dash use to emphasize something in a sentence - and if it is recommended to the IELTS writing. :)
Simple superb! Adams your are really doing great work. I am a voracious, avid reader have lot of word at my command. I have superior vocabulary but due to lack of writing skills I can't express it in writing. I am very passionate about words. I am logophil(word lover). Now I want to be amazing writer. Thank you so much for this video. I am writing sentences in excel to the understanding so far I wrote 75 sentences.. now your video have lot of clarity.
Thank you for the video, it was so helpful. Could you please check the below sentences?: 1. It is well-known that fast food contains mostly sugar and fat rather than vitamins and minerals, which our bodies require to operate normally. 2. Secondly, the lack of essential nutrients in fast food increases abnormal cell mutations, which can lead to cancer. 3. There were 5 of them, but by 2017, only 3 of them left operating. Thank you
bro, your videos are phenomenal; I seriously think that your explanations are the best. I really wish you all the best and I hope this new channel would prosper and grow more than the other one.

Adam, I thank for your work. The comma I still need to internalise, but I'm getting there. An example sentence. On account of (their) trying to hypnotise me, I got two doctors dismissed from their posts.:One a psychologist the other a GP. Would love to study
Commas are critical to clarification in comprehension. The classic example: "Count out one thousand two hundred and seventy. " (Count out 1,270- or count out 1,200---and then 70 separately.) The comma before "and" makes a significant difference. Technical writers especially are notorious for failing to use commas when clarifying meaning.
I always watch your videos the day they are released, but I had to prepare for today exam, Phonetics :). Thanks, dear Mr. Adam for focusing on the Comma, they sometimes get really confusing.
May I respectfully ask if the use of commas in the following sentences is correct? I know that we only use comma when the subordinating conjunction begins a sentence; whereas, no comma is applied when the SC is used in the middle of a sentence. But I was told by some professors that sometimes this rule is not applicable, especially for parenthetical elements. 1. The physical opening of schools will depend on the risk severity, pursuant to guidelines of the Department of Health. 2. The Secretary is authorizing the holding of Saturday classes, through the conduct of. . . 3. The learning intervention shall formally open in August, while the program duration… 4. Marissa went to the party, though she would see her former lovers. 5. The students decide to play computer games, when they can use their free time meaningfully. 6. I stay positive in the course of global health crises, despite the lack of support from the government. Thank you very much, Sir, for sharing your knowledge.
What if "and" isn't used and a comma separates the addition information? Example: Porters hop off the excavator, clutching picks and shovels. Example: Luca swats at the kid's grasping fingers, knocking the boy down. Example: Annie comes back down, seeing a light on. I hope you can help. Thanks!
it's a coordinate conjunctions. They makes a relationship between sentences, and this why you have to use them to make clear this relationship of contrast .
Hello Adam! Thanks for lessons! Would you not be so kind to explain me several things? I can't figure out how the structures be/was/were+ infinitive works. For example in a subjunctive mood(condition)
Thanks a bunch for your great videos. I have been a big fan of you since a very long time ago. I would be greatful if you upload part 2 and 3 of Comma rules. 😊👍
Hi, I have a question: Do you use a comma after the words "so" and "well" when you start with these on sentences? Also, do you place a comma after "obviously" when it's used this way: He attended the graduation yesterday, and them obviously attended the ball afterwards. Please respond. Thank you so much for your time and for the video.
Sir ... If There Are Multiple Commas And No Semicolon Is there As we see in NewsPaper .... Then How Can We Understand it...?? Plz Can u Explain This...??👍
sorry but i appreciate if you can explain to me about the sentence : most people ..., but unless an item is on sale,...' . Why this sentence is ' a adverb phrase ' ? i have question about .
Thanks a lot for your video. I have a question. You mentioned, the sentence "General, along with his officers, will attend the ceremony." has a singular subject. Does it mean when the same sentence will be used in the present tense, will be based on the singular subject also, i.e. "General, along with his officers, is attending the meeting now."?
Hello! Thank you so much for your videos. I have a question though. "In the past, schools encouraged boys to pursue engineering and they encouraged girls to pursue the arts" - I still can use a comma here, can't I? Or because of it being a compound I can't? Then why we used a comma in "...they must be native born, and they must speak all the country's official languages..."?
Teacher, I have a question. Is right the use of comma in this written? For that reason, in my opinion is very important that students use some learning strategies in order to practice the listening and speaking skills in their free time as well as in the classroom.
thank so much your valuable video guru ji adam would you mind what is the difference between to and than in comparison please explain me one again thank you so much from india .
Thank you , Adam. So you can separate two items with, and? As far as i 'm using the right term? ...encouraged boys to pursue engineering ,and girls the art.
yup. the sentence will be now compound predicate. encouraged boys to pursue engineering ,and girls the art. if you just type girls the art,it wont make sense since it is a dependent clause.
I'm not expecting an answer as this is 2 years old already, but your first example is confusing me. There's a big difference in 'A,B, and C' and 'A, B and C'. In the first one you're naming 3 groups, in the second B and C belong together, and can't be seperated. Or should you use or in that case?
When it comes to commas I tend to overuse them, so I have what I like to call “Shatner syndrome” in my writing because of it. This video was extremely helpful, so hopefully it won’t be so bad now. 😅😂
Thanks Adam. I have one question. In "..they do not purchase much, IF anything". What exactly means the word IF. Of course, I understand the context, but I never read this word with this meaning. Thank you again.
He uses his time to do these vids god bless you

It was helpful lesson as always, Thanks Adam. God give you long and always bless you.
Finally, I figured out difference between compound and complex sentences. Thanks a lot
Woooo excelent video teacher. In my opinion the right of the comma is very important to improve our writing.

Thank you for this video. You are the one of the best teachers I know and your lessons are the BEST. Thank you very much.

The best of your work, Adam! Thanks. Different structure coming. Use a comma
Excellent explanation of comma to us

Should there be a semicolon after departments or after such as in paragraph at 4:31 minutes into your video.

Jay Wat the clearest explanation is to use the comma between two IC's that include a S+ V

Can we use a serial coma to solve the "compound problem", at the middle of the essay, even if initially we did not use it?
Brilliant as usual. Are there any other parts for that?
So helpful :) Thanks!
