- This trainer variant is nicknamed Titanium Goose. It has an extra seat for a flight instructor.
A-12 was a spy plane for CIA. It is a one seater and the ancestor of the 2-seater SR-71. It is slightly shorter than the SR-71.
More info on this particular specimen: www.sr-71.org/...
It was faster and flew higher than the SR-71. It deserves better than to be left out in the elements like this
Is there a doco on this aircraft?
Would be fascinating to find out more.
@@iancurtis1152 Search: Lockheed A-12 Article 124, Air Force SN 60-6927
That will open a bunch of options.

The A12 was called Oxcart not Blackbird.
🤓🤓🤓🤡🤡🤡
I heard that no A-12 pilot liked the codename Oxcart. Besides, SR-71 was announced while A-12 was kept in secrecy until much later. That's why blackbird stuck. I am no blackbird expert and all the information out on the web is all mixed up and confusing.
@@cplai I hadn't heard that before! Very interesting.
California African American Museum? Can you say RACIST!
how do you even come up with these thoughts. Are you ok?
The plane is part of the exhibit of California Science Center. The California African American Museum you see in the background is just the neighbor. The codename Blackbird goes with the plane only, not related to the neighboring museum.
