I made the carrot dogs tonight! My mom loved them and so did my dad! It's amazing how you can't even taste the carrot flavor, the marinade they soak in really gives them that meaty hot dog flavor!
So awesome that you use reusable big grocery bags! I recommend also checking out some reusable produce bags on Amazon too, so you can get rid of the plastic bags entirely :)
Hi Kristina. Thanks for the advice of where you can get re-usable produce bags from..I live in the UK. Some places have paper bags here, do the shops or supermarkets provide paper bags where you are ( although reusable seems the best)
Thanks for your reply Kristina. I think as the issue of plastic is growing, things will change. Perhaps not as quickly as you or I would wish. However as long as it starts to turn in the right direction, it's a great start.
Everybody should try to avoid plastic net packaging. It ends up in the sea, down the gullets of seabirds or strangling seals. Thanks for thinking about this. KJT.
I absolutely LOVE your channel. So many vegan channels pay absolutely no attention to sugar, salt, or oil consumption. I have just adopted a plant based diet. I had adopted a plant based diet for about eight months. As a diabetic with the very, very, high carb intake and sugar intake (albeit natural), my sugar was outrageous. My doctor advised me against a plant based diet because of this. I also noticed comments from vegans about how much weight they have gained. I now eat a plant based diet, moderately carb, low oil and heavy on the veg. It is very discouraging to have almost all vegan channels preach no measuring of food (bread, corn, peas, lentils) when clearly to eat as much as you want of heavy carb items, nuts and oil will skyrocket carb sensitive people as well as weight gain with oil and nuts. Thank you.
Dr. Neal Barnard has a great book on diabetes, I believe Dr. Fuhrman has one as well although I haven't read his. I told a diabetic friend of mine about Dr. Barnard's book. He started following it, lowered his blood glucose levels and lost weight.
Loved your video. Just discovered your channel!! Awesome!! Will have to give Kroger a try! I usually go to Costco, trader joes and a little bit at whole foods!! Thank you for the haul!!
Thanks, this is very helpful. I am preparing to go WFPB next week. Already got a week's menu and groceries and I will get my produce from the market in a couple of days. I chose to finish up what I had in the house, in stead of throwing it in the bin. But I regret that decision, my fibromyalgia and ibs are suffering from it. I will try to give away the rest of my frozen chicken. Looking forward to the change and what it might do for my body.
Love krogers! Get most of my groceries there. Wish we had an Aldis😞 they are in all the states around us but none in ours.not sure why. Love your kitchen! Great videos, very realistic and family friendly recipes, Thanks!
Thank you very much on your video"s with no oil, that's the main reason why I watch you, because of no oil, or shall I say SOS. Thanks again for all your tips...
In the North west you can find Simple Organic at Fred Meyers. Kroeger bought them out several years ago. Fred Meyers has a plentiful Health and organics section.
You talked about not having too much oil as in the chips. When you mentioned it was canola, I was horrified. Canola os an industrial oil which is used in most margarines. I have had 2 friends whose eye specialists have told them that their macula degeneration is directly as a result of years of margarine use with canola oil. Pico from Queensland Australia
We have a frys which is a sister company of Kroger’s! And your right it’s dirt cheap when the sales are on and I stock up. I always thought organic and vegan was expensive but recently I’m switching to vegan so I’m still learning. I learned that Kroger has vegan and organic foods for dirt cheap when it’s on sale.
I LOVE kroger, it's always had such a variety of organic, natural, and specialty foods! whether its a dietary need or a cultural want they've always had the largest section, i would also recommend Ingles if you have one, the prices are a bit high but the options are endless. or perhaps Thrive market (specifically if you have a specialty diet) Great video
OMG your videos are amazing. I just want to thank you very much. I have been watching many of your videos tonight. I love them. I plan to improve my Plant Based diet from many of the ideas you share. laird
I buy both dry and canned organic beans, canned usually goes on sale for $1.20 and that is cheap especially in Hawaii. Now I can make batches of chili or beans and brown rice :) Love your channel. Aloha! BTW $230 a week for a family is cost effective better than fast food, junk foods, eating out(loads of sodium, sugar and worst yet, oils). Better than for paying medical expenses. Aloha!
I love the haul, this helps out a lot, I have to start getting my some that seven generation dish detergent, I don't have a Kroger's, but there are other stores that have it, we have farmers market, health stores, whole foods, trader joes, and wegman's!
you could also cook a big bulk of beans, fill them hot into glass jars (to the rim with the boiling liquid )and let them cool upside-down. they will keep for months and are great for lazy occasions!
It looks like my grocery list :)) plus/minus a few things and I'm shopping for three. It's a little bit more expensive that an ordinary shopping list but when you exclude dinning out and other processed stuff, the expenses are pretty similar.
Recently found your channel and I love you already😊 I also use 7 Gen products, love them! I make my own almond milk now. Chips are my weakness & I buy those same ones, but I want to learn how to make kale chips or other vegi chips. Great video, thank you 👍
I love 7th generation dish detergent. I live in the south east too but we dont have a krogers or lowes food here. Aldis is actually a growing organic food market if you have one and its dirt cheap. Also those simply organic cans are probably the best I've seen low sodium and the spicy black beans are amazing if you want some spanish tasting beans straight out the can.
We have an Aldi's where i am at. I have been shopping there for about 20 years. Am so happy to see so many more organic and whole food products being put out. And it is so much more affordable for me than going to Whole Foods, Sprouts or other commercial store chains. I only go to Whole Foods for specific items or if there is a really good sale on things. When I was there last i made a haul of unsalted nuts to make dips, green and red lentils, quinoa and brown rice mixes, etc. I hope aldi's keeps up the organic and whole foods based items.
I live in an area where the Kroger is also very good and my go to market! I think it varies a lot by state because when we lived in Florida the Publix were very nice. Weird! Every now and then I go to Sprouts for the more exotic items or just for fun. :)
I recommend looking for fair trade bananas! If you can’t find them, buy organic any brand but Chiquita. They have actually paid people to beat their workers into submission after protesting for working conditions and pay. If we are helping animals and the environment, we should also be thinking of the people providing our food
Hey guys. Myk here. I find that just chopping up some red and yellow peppers or using celery (which taste very salty if your tastebuds have adjusted to a low sodium diet) let’s me forgo chips altogether. The hummus, guac or salsa is just as good!
looking at the before and after pics of yourself, clearly YOU SAVED YOURSELF. I'm just under three months into veganism and have lost over 20 pounds. I was already doing home fitness when I went vegan, and my energy levels have not dropped one bit. the one tragedy in this whole business is the quasi universal conviction that meat is absolutely indispensable, not mentioning what animal husbandry on a corporate scale is doing to the planet...
Wonderful selection - I haven't checked all your vids yet, but home made salsa beats store-bought every time! So easy to make and fresh-tasting- and without the stuff you don't want. Check out the many recipes online! Thank you for your outstanding videos & information!
Regarding stores, I live in Miami, Florida and I do not know where we have a krogers.I love your food haul. I will look around for one. Your produce haul is excellent. You look happy and well. Yep, we buy lots of bananas like you. I like the way you think.Oh and I am going to check out your kombucha segment. And also I am looking for your sauerkraut recipe
Do you have a Trader Joe's because I am doing a post on that next week? I never did get the sauerkraut recipe out there but I followed the recipe from the Perfect Pickler and just didn't use the full amount of salt. =)
Hey there, it is so nice that you responded to my post. Yes, we have a Trader Joe's here. I have been several times. The prices are excellent. It is a must to get there early.Maybe I will try to make it over there this weekend.I was told that there is an Aldis here, and my daughter shops at the one in Orlando. She likes it a lot, especially with her beautiful baby boy.I will continue to view your channel, and utilize your recipes.Peace
Sometimes I order my dates from the Date Lady ilovedatelady.com/ Otherwise I now just get them both from Trader Joe’s because the quality is more reliable and affordable, especially for the cashews
Pace use to be my favorite salsa but I recently found out it is not vegetarian because of the natural flavoring that is added. Sorry if this happens to be your favorite too.
I have lower my blood pressure and cured my interior cardiac pain when exerting myself from eating plant based diet in three months. I cheated twice with beef products and felt AWEFUL.
errr...I don't think they are organic...just bought some canned beans from ALDI last week and then I discovered a funny ingredient in them...www.fooducate.com/app#!page=product&id=749C2352-CC96-11E2-A48E-1E047F2017A1 just saying!

I have only $150 ($30 of that is for our pets) to spend per week for 4 (2 adults, 2 teens) but we are getting there. We have to transition because of the cost in New Zealand and also my daughter is quite picky with the food. Love your channel.
Kroger is a company that owns many stores across the country like fred meyer and fry's so most ppl can find a Kroger store! They're the largest grocer in the country, second largest in the world
Farkhod Niyazov The only supplement I take is Women's Formula Multivitamin by Dr. Fuhrman. There is also a men's version. www.drfuhrman.com/shop/products/56/womens-daily-formula-d3?sel=89&gclid=CjwKCAjw-qbLBRB7EiwAftBCI99E6OTAGJX8AKDKrtVDIpt7VR9l-P8I-0UBjJnTrsHXs963klwtIxoCwRAQAvD_BwE
Great video. My budget is close to $50-$60 bi weekly for 2 people. I definitely take advantage of discounted produce to freeze for later use. Sadly, I don't have a Kroger close enough. Aldi is one of my main grocery stores. Our local Aldi is in the process of expanding. I hear it will be very similar to 360 Whole Foods. I'm very excited because we are limited with finding affordable organic foods.
Raylene Evans This grocery haul doesn't have everything that we eat. As I stated there are other things that we consume that I buy in bulk online. I just don't have a price estimate for these things. This show just reflects what our normal grocery haul looks like and how much it costs.
I really like your channel, simple healthy recipes and calm atmosphere. Just saying here that buying organic is not always the best option. Organic means using waste from animals factories and farms, so it is questionable if it's vegan. It also doesn't mean it is free of pesticides.
I just found your channel. I am starting a plant based di ed t. But my problem is it is only me. There's 3 in my family. 1 really won't eat the diet and the other might occasionally, but he likes his meat too much. I am trying to keep certain foods out of the house, but it is hard. If you don't have oil in the house how would you do stir fry? Trying to learn all I can.
That is difficult but you are doing the right thing 👍 It is possible to stir fry without oil. I have a video on it HOW TO COOK OIL-FREE VEGAN » Water Saute, Broth Saute, Oven Roast - ALL OIL FREE!
They are Goya and I do have a video that shows how we make them although we sprinkle a spice mix on them in that video. You can just spritz with Braggs liquid amino acids, or lime juice and then sprinkle a little bit of nutritional yeast on them for flavor. You can also just leave them plain. plantbasedcookingshow.com/2016/04/13/vegan-bean-cheese-dip/
Great ideas! I wish there was a cookbook that gave ideas for cooking for smaller households, like cooking for one. Difficult to keep items fresh when ingredients like in salad dressing recipes don't keep for long. Perhaps when I attempt this way of eating and living I'll write one.
Would you think about ditching all those plastic bags for your produce? :) most fruits/veg can be carried and weighed without bags, and for the other smaller items you can carry reusable produce bags along with your reusable carry bags to the supermarket!
How do you know she didn't already reuse the plastic produce bags. Sometimes people's militancy for every issue forces us to lose sight and positivity of the bigger message.
I don't think Emma's comment was militancy. Plastic has become a huge problem. I think she politely asked a question, and gave an alternative. I can't see that this forces anyone to loose sight and positivity of her message
Yes, I grow kale, collard greens, beets, green beans, lettuces and some herbs like basil, thyme, sage and rosemary. I am just working on a salsa recipe right now =)
did you move? I have been watching your Nutritarian channel I love that kitchen. This one is brighter it is very nice too...i enjoy view your tutorials
Armanda Lebron We have moved three times since we started the show so you can see all of the different kitchens in the shows. This one is my favorite 🤗
I like the way you present your show. it is easy to follow. In one of your cooking shows you said that you live in the south east, where? I saw the grocery haul ( 4 in family) and the cost, I thought it was a little high. Those are the prices that I usually spend when I shop at Whole Foods. The good thing that is happening now in my east coast grocery stores they are all in competition with W.F. therefore I can buy fresh organic produce at lower prices. thank you for sharing your shopping with us. I have you on notification when you upload a video, looking forward to them
You should check out Costco for canned beans. They've got cases of 8, organic, for 6-7$ a case. They don't have as much variety, black beans (my favorite), pinto, and red kidney beans.
Apart from the information in this vid, I appreciate the un-American way it is presented. Don't get me wrong, I love Americans...but usually American videos are presented in a car-sales-person, kind of way, so both thumbs up!
J C Lerma You have to be selective with canned foods. Read the labels. There are brands that only use salt as a preservative. Some don’t even use salt.
Quite good, but I also do miss a lot of stuff like flaxseeds, chia, oats, almonds, walnuts, quinoa, millet, rye, cocoa, green salads ....sorry might not become my favorite channel. But for beginners it’s sure good to watch how to start with....all the best and thx for your effort and information and sharing!
...that did not come out in that video - so big thumb up - and I will definitely have a look at your channel then ....looking forward to yummy recipes! Thanks for the info!
I made the carrot dogs tonight! My mom loved them and so did my dad! It's amazing how you can't even taste the carrot flavor, the marinade they soak in really gives them that meaty hot dog flavor!
Right? !!!!!❤️❤️❤️
Got yo try these and let my daughter know
Hi! Just found you! I live in Atlanta and I shop at Kroger and Sprouts. Doing a major lifestyle change. Love your channel!
I buy the tortillas and cut them in strips, bake them 350 for 12 minutes...they come out great. I use salsa with them...
The Debbie Daily thanks!
I’m doing it and I feel so much better. I know I I have a long way to go but I’ll give my best. Thanks
Oh boy, I’m super glad I found your channel! Going shopping now but going to binge watch tonight! Yay!! 😀

So awesome that you use reusable big grocery bags! I recommend also checking out some reusable produce bags on Amazon too, so you can get rid of the plastic bags entirely :)
For real! All that plastic is a killer. Also, shopping at the farmers' market is usually cheaper.
Hi Kristina. Thanks for the advice of where you can get re-usable produce bags from..I live in the UK. Some places have paper bags here, do the shops or supermarkets provide paper bags where you are ( although reusable seems the best)
Sometimes, but not always. Plastic is standard in almost all places, but some natural food stores will have paper.
Thanks for your reply Kristina. I think as the issue of plastic is growing, things will change. Perhaps not as quickly as you or I would wish. However as long as it starts to turn in the right direction, it's a great start.
Thank you for sharing this! Our family have been WFPB for 6 weeks and we are loving it!!! Your recipes are great, too! ❤️🌿❤️
This is one of the first videos of yours that I watched. Thank you for making such great content and sharing them with us all!

Love your channel, very informative and the video, what the health, scared the bigibies out of me, thank you!
Another great video. Thanks for the break down of what you use each item for. Very helpful.

Love this food haul! More videos please with recipe suggestions😀
This made me excited to go shopping next week for plant based food!!!!!!😊😊😊😊
Excellent review today for me again, Thanks!
By the way, I made the Puerto Rican beans last night!!! Easy and excellent, soooooooooo good, Thanks a lot!
Thank you for your sharing. Your tips incredibly changed my life
OMG groceries in America.....so much cheaper than in Canada!! (Even when you do the $$ exchange). Thanks for this fun video. :)
Awesome haul!! Loved it!!
Wow amazing loved your haul
So helpful and so informative
Thanks, this is very helpful. I am preparing to go WFPB next week. Already got a week's menu and groceries and I will get my produce from the market in a couple of days.

I miss Kroger. Just moved to the FL panhandle from Augusta, GA, and SO miss Kroger and Aldi!
Also, Simple Truth is Kroger's brand. :P
I just found your channel and subscribed.

I found it at Walmart also

That's fantastic. We usually do too and they always ask what we do with them. Great teaching moment 🤗
Do you have a local produce market near you? You can buy them by the case and they wont bat an eye.
You should see my collection. I'm just feeding myself, too. No shame.

Yeah it's not good to pollute our body with the flesh of a deceased animal
Me too! I’m recovering from a cheat right now!
I get my organic beans at Aldi, only 79 cents!
errr...I don't think they are organic...just bought some canned beans from ALDI last week and then I discovered a funny ingredient in them...www.fooducate.com/app#!page=product&id=749C2352-CC96-11E2-A48E-1E047F2017A1 just saying!

Your show is the best! What pot do you recommend for the baked beans?
Hairy Vegan Animal
I use a Dutch oven but you can use any pot that is safe to put in the oven with a lid.
What do you recommend for bloating after gallbladder surgery thanks for your help

Costco has Kirkland Signature Organic Multigrain Nacho Cheese Tortilla Chips (made with quinoa and flaxseed) and Sams has red quinoa chips
GREAT CHANNEL !
thanks !
Great tips. I might miss it but what about supplements. Can you please share what vitamins do you take?

Does your budget allow for lunches packed at home? And by bi-weekly do you mean twice a week? Or every other week? Thanks.
Raylene Evans
Every other week and yes it includes lunches. My family of four eats three meals a day from home🤗
Dinners are made in bulk so leftovers are packed with extra veggies for lunches.
You state your family of 4 eats three meals a day from home. Please clarify which 2 people you're feeding for $50 every two weeks.

You're so lucky to be able to buy organic beans for $1. They cost $2-3 each here in New Zealand.
Simple Truth is Kroger's line of organic food and it is delicious!
Julie Hulgin
I agree. I love their products.
Simple Truth is a brand that is in a lot of stores.
I have to try the baked corn tortilla chips, I can't find any chips without oil.. Kroger has fuel points too:)
I really like your channel, simple healthy recipes and calm atmosphere.
Just saying here that buying organic is not always the best option.
Organic means using waste from animals factories and farms, so it is questionable if it's vegan. It also doesn't mean it is free of pesticides.
Isidora Kesić
That is a very good point 👍
@@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow I was a bit afraid if people would attack me for this! Thank you!
That is difficult but you are doing the right thing 👍
It is possible to stir fry without oil. I have a video on it
HOW TO COOK OIL-FREE VEGAN » Water Saute, Broth Saute, Oven Roast - ALL OIL FREE!
@@wholefoodplantbasedcookingshow Thank you for the info.
oh i see the chips threw me very good whole foods video
Kroger is Fry's in the southwest for people that don't know. Do you ever make your own salsa ?
Michelle Noschese
No but I’m going to try 🤗
Do you start with a menu and a plan for the week? Is this all needed from a list?
I don’t. I’m not really that organized.
Target has boxed organic low-salt beans. They are about $1 too.
Jill, what is the brand name of the corn tortillas you bought and do you have a video to show how to make the tortilla chips?
They are Goya and I do have a video that shows how we make them although we sprinkle a spice mix on them in that video. You can just spritz with Braggs liquid amino acids, or lime juice and then sprinkle a little bit of nutritional yeast on them for flavor. You can also just leave them plain.

Thank you for the quick reply! Your show is a blessing and very helpful!
Great ideas! I wish there was a cookbook that gave ideas for cooking for smaller households, like cooking for one. Difficult to keep items fresh when ingredients like in salad dressing recipes don't keep for long. Perhaps when I attempt this way of eating and living I'll write one.
I hear you. That is a common struggle. I will try to be more mindful and address those needs =)
We live with just the two of us abd use the 'How not to die cookbook' from dr. Greger. It's whole food plant based.
I subscribed ❤
Love the haul where do you order your cashews pls
great video! Can I ask which online site you use to purchase your dates and nuts?

I wish we had a Kriegers here in nor Cal.
Your videos are good quality! What camera do you use?
Jan Wright
I was using a Cannon DSLR camera and now I have a Sony a7iii.
Im from Nashville and Kroger rocks!
Just a heads up you can use reusable produce bags for weighing/pricing as well!
I don't think Emma's comment was militancy. Plastic has become a huge problem. I think she politely asked a question, and gave an alternative. I can't see that this forces anyone to loose sight and positivity of her message
Do you grow any of your own vegetables, fruit or herbs.Have you made your own salsa or passata instead of buying cans and bottles of them
Yes, I grow kale, collard greens, beets, green beans, lettuces and some herbs like basil, thyme, sage and rosemary. I am just working on a salsa recipe right now =)
Hi, just wondering. Do you eat grains at all except for the corn? Rice or quinoa?
Yes, we eat black rice, wild rice and quinoa occasionally. =)
did you move? I have been watching your Nutritarian channel I love that kitchen.
This one is brighter it is very nice too...i enjoy view your tutorials
Armanda Lebron
We have moved three times since we started the show so you can see all of the different kitchens in the shows.
Lauren Beckerle
Thank you. Will do🤗
So lunch or dinner wud be beans or tofu as main protein source, do you use rice, quinoa or any carb .
alicia ali
Rarely do we eat rice or quinoa. We rely on the protein from the vegetables 🤗
Apart from the information in this vid, I appreciate the un-American way it is presented. Don't get me wrong, I love Americans...but usually American videos are presented in a car-sales-person, kind of way, so both thumbs up!
I am American and can't stand the over-the-top video's either. Keep it simple and direct please!
Great info I'm starting the diet, the canned foods don't they have preservatives, which are really bad.
J C Lerma
You have to be selective with canned foods. Read the labels. There are brands that only use salt as a preservative. Some don’t even use salt.
The Whole Food Plant Based Cooking Show thanks for your prompt response, and will do.
Sabine Frühauf
I buy my nuts, chia, flax, and beans in bulk from other sources and my greens are in the garden🤗
...that did not come out in that video - so big thumb up - and I will definitely have a look at your channel then ....looking forward to yummy recipes! Thanks for the info!
