Love the fact there is no refined sugar, eggs, wheat, or processed fats/oil in this! Even someone who is diabetic could have a slice (my mother-in-law). I've watched three of your recipe videos now, and want to make all of them. You have a very pleasant personality for these videos, enjoyable to watch!
Didn't have sweet potato flour, so I used about 1/4 c of spelt flour. And I made the frosting with peanut butter instead of cashews...YUMMY ! I'm going to remake this cake for my birthday!

Baking in the oven right now. I substituted oat flour for the sweet potato flour. When I tasted the cake batter before I put it in the oven, It had a very strong green banana flour taste (which I used the recommended 1 1/2 cup of) Hopefully It will be less strong after it bakes. I made the frosting and its pretty good. Maybe soaking them in hot water 2 hrs prior will make it more creamy.

When you were telling your plant base story and holding up your picture of you before and after it looked like mother and daughter. I'm 71 years old and went vegetarian when I was 20 years old. People think I'm in my mid 30's and I have so much energy, no grey hair and I maintain a 32 " waist. I went vegan several years ago.

Congratulations on 10K! Looks so good! Definitely going to try making it. With regard to spreading the batter, I would wet my hands and push the batter around with my impeccably clean fingers. Afterwards the batter can be smoothed out with an offset spatula dipped in water.
Ok, When this first came out of the oven I have to admit that I was underwhelmed. So I let it sit overnight kind of ignoring it. Tried a piece this afternoon & WOW, Huge Improvement! The taste & texture came together & this stuff is HIGHLY ADDICTIVE! The frosting set up perfectly & is soooo much better than the store bought crap-in-a-can. The cake itself is moist & chewy without being too dense & allowing it to set before eating eliminated the slightly starchy taste of the green banana flour. Great Job!
I am making this recipe for the first time and plus I'm a new Vegan. The cake is in the oven and I need to make the frosting. I tasted the batter of the cake and it did not have any sweetness to it, but I guess the cake part doesn't need to be very sweet. I had a hard time blending everything. I used a beater, then a food processor, then my blender and then back to the beater which I left on for 20 minutes, then again, back to the food processor and it actually made the batter into a beautiful round ball of chocolate batter! I had 9 inch pans so I had to fit the whole thing in one pan since it wasn't enough for 2 pans. One thing I wished I had done to start with is to "soak the dates in water" for a while so they'd be softer and easier to blend. Anyway, I'll update after the cake is completely finished.

I subscribed recently, and I have 4 requests already. 1. German Chocolate cake; basically how would you make the icing. 2. Banana bread, with the green banana flour. 3. Chicken and dumplings. That will probably stump you, but I really just want the dumplings. And lastly, 4, good biscuits. I am gluten free, no sugar, and non GMO. I do occasionally eat meat, but only if it is pastured raised.
Oh one more . . . sugar cookies. I know that is hard with no flour and no sugar. But I have loved your videos, and if anyone can do it, I think you can.

Hi, I was the same about sweet potatoes and carrots in cakes but it's amazing how great these ingredients are in cakes !!! 💙 I sometimes use organic Apple cider vinegar in vegan cakes but balsamic vinegar is a new concept for me, no doubt it will taste great though!💜🌹🌹

I just subscribed :) This looks so good! If I don't have a gluten sensitivity can I use whole wheat all purpose flour or pastry flour? Gluten free baked goods usually have a slightly gummy/dense texture which I don't prefer.

I eat raw, plant-based quite a bit. In terms of equipment (not necessarily dedicated to raw, plant-based eating), I have invested in a Vitamix and a food processor. I haven't invested in a dehydrator because I am not committed to being fully raw. But you mentioned that you used one to dehydrate your sweet potato. Curious, what else do you use your dehydrator for?

I made this cake, but used canned pumpkin instead of sweet potato. Also I didn’t frost it. It was easy and great tasting. A nice guilt free treat!

Yes, maybe just use slightly less. It would be ok out of the fridge for a couple days or so and at least a week in the fridge🤗

My blender is a Blendtec professional 800. Cashews are actually a seed, not a nut like tree nuts( almonds, walnuts, pecans )
