You could google the crime rates, but I can tell you that no. When I moved here in 2002, one of the reasons was the low crime rate. Livermore is a former small town, known for the Nuclear Laboratory and Vineyards. It used to be a cowboy town, and it tries to keep that heritage. However, in the last 2 years crime has increased. But that's just like car break-ins, some assaults, and theft. Police here aren't needing SBRs to clear buildings CBQ/CQC style. They're basically pissing away tax dollars on cool toys. These people don't have the need to justify the expense, and they lack the training and experience for these types of weapons.
@@Mitata72 I know that’s a meme, that originated from an adult movie, but there is actually a really good depth to that as a historical joke. In the early shipping days, the ships had sails and it took of months to get anywhere, and with lack of proper nutrition it was causing scurvy in all the sailors, so that was limiting how far you’re able to trade. The way that you would counteracted this is with citrus like lemons or limes. This is the origin of “go luck a lemon”, or calling a British person “Limey”. So being that the trade routes were highly dependent on citrus fruits, the citrus prices, skyrocketed and if you had a citrus orchard, you became extremely wealthy. Of course with this high value there became a substantial amount of thievery to steal lemons and limes, because of how valuable they were. So lemon thieves are a real thing, and these farmers started hiring private mercenaries to protect their lemons.

So you are pointing out how a department has their motor units carry their rifles? And your problem is that they are secured, have the potential to have the magazines removed, or are they SBRs? (which is just a rifle but shorter)??? What is gained by this?
1) These are SBRs. They would be NFA weapons if owned by a citizen, and highly restricted. The Citizens of California can not own SBRs. If the police are using SBRs, then they should be removed from the NFA, and California should not ban them 2) These rifles are accessible to the public. Yes, they're locked, buy these police locks are notorious for being able to be defeated in seconds with a magnet. 3) They are left unattended. Many on the internet do not find a problem with this, but for those of us that have served in the military, we would have been charged if we did something like this.
@@AaronHorrocks@AaronHorrocks Sometimes, our military service doesn't translate into civilian ways and is not that special. These rifles are secured, and if someone were to tamper with them in an attempt to steal them, they would be committing a crime. Having rifles on motorcycles is a great way to easily maneuver a problem solver into position due to their mobility. The barrel length issue is for the NFA (which should be banned altogether) and the BS definitions regarding barrel length, not LPD.
Squad cars can be locked. So at least in that case, there's two sets of locks that need to be defeated. Even still, the gunlocks used in Squad Cars are similarly notoriously poor and can be defeated in seconds with a magnet. That being said, the fact still remains that these are SBRs.

@@AaronHorrocks i understand your point, i do see your side. i think my argument is the equivalent of a car being locked and unattended in a parking lot. yes you could break into it, and after that yes you could use it to hurt or kill someone. but the point is that it’s locked and if someone else breaks the law to steal it and use it to harm someone why should it be the car owners fault (yes i understand these are police bikes, but still the bike is just as vulnerable as the gun at that point and still makes the thief the person in the wrong if the bike or gun is stolen)

Is Livermore that dangerous? If i was mayor i would be pissed at the expense of outfitting 8-10 motorcycles.
Isn’t it a crime to leave a fire arm, unattended in California?
keep trying -
That’s crazy. One grinder and 20 seconds.
You don't even need a grinder.
For what wine thievery?!
LEMON STEALING WHORES
@@AaronHorrocks 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
Rules for thee………..but not for us agents of the government. Who’s working for who? Public service is a myth.
Hey, why don’t you approach those fine officers and thank them for their service. Livermore is a fine community. Those weapons are secure.

The real question is why they have them in the first place. There is no legal way to use them surely? This isn't the army.
Wat?
@@iancr22 There is absolutely no reason why a policeman should ever be given a rifle with sights unless they are part of some very very special squad to deal with mass shootings or terrorists, and even then, I find it hard to believe they are necessary. A policeman's gun should be for defense only, and there is no way those guns are for defense.
These aren't Livermore PD bikes, though they actually do use the same setup on theirs
I’m in Livermore, I live here, and I recorded this near Downtown.
Should call the cops. Some one is brandishing their weapons in public.
Well since unattended, looks like you can just grab one and take it home, you should try it!
Can't, it's an SBR and possession is a FELONY.

If the police are using SBRs, then they should be removed from the NFA, and California should not ban them
2) These rifles are accessible to the public.
If you own a weapon and leave your house, are your weapons unattended and subject to the same theft.
Having rifles on motorcycles is a great way to easily maneuver a problem solver into position due to their mobility.
The barrel length issue is for the NFA (which should be banned altogether) and the BS definitions regarding barrel length, not LPD.
Aaron, come on, dude. Don’t try so hard brother
they are locked. same can be said with the ARs locked in a squad car thats unattended.
Squad cars can be locked. So at least in that case, there's two sets of locks that need to be defeated. Even still, the gunlocks used in Squad Cars are similarly notoriously poor and can be defeated in seconds with a magnet.
That being said, the fact still remains that these are SBRs.
Yeah kinda fucked up that the police can have SBR but we can’t in California. Or have to jump through hoops to get them. Being a Livermore lifer myself I will say those rifles probably won’t get messed with. It’s a lot different than Richmond.
I don’t know how much you get out and around town, but crime is getting worse by factors here in the last couple years. I’ve been assaulted and had an attempted car jacking. When it didn’t pan out in his favor, dude picked up a large stone, and threw it at my truck, damaging the hood and breaking the windshield.
There’s also graffiti in all the bathrooms, and showing up all over traffic posts, street lights, various walls. Someone has even been putting graffiti on historic buildings in downtown.
Yeah I live next to down town Livermore, I do hvac so I get all over the Bay Area. Also a ccw holder because yes crime sucks. Dems fault. I’m just saying, I don’t think you could get one of those out of there. But maybe I’m wrong

They're also driving BMW bikes.
… and?
This is the same kind of guy that turns a legitimate speeding ticket, into a 4 hour ordeal about constitutional rights while he communicates, through a closed window, via lamenated cards, stating his rights as a U.S citizen.
I’ve never gotten a speeding ticket, because I don’t speed. But also, I did swear an oath to the United States Constitution when I joined the Marines.
The police on the other hand, violate people’s Constitutional rights in order to generate revenue for the government.
The proliferation of annoying people walking around with cameras, making something out of nothing is beyond the pale. Get a life.

@@LifeAfterWideOpenThrottle Here in California, weapons need to be in a locked case in addition to being in a locked car.
