I had a Harley with open pipes, very loud. Driving down the street minding my own business and heard the siren. I was close to a huge field that I knew like the back of my hand. Drove into it, over a bridge, through the trees and out the other side, about a mile. No cop. Went home and got my car and drove back. By this time, cops all over the place. Asked one of them what the trouble was and he told me they were waiting for a motorcycle to come back out. Legend says they are still waiting.

I miss the old days. Nearly all day every day we could we’d be out riding, having fun not hurting anyone or causing trouble. The cops NEVER bothered us in fact one of our main trails cut into and across the police department and they used to wave to us, talk to us etc. It all seemed to end overnight in the early 2000’s. It got to the point I sold my 400EX, 250R and my YZ250 all at once because the new generation of cops made our lives miserable and expensive always impounding our stuff and harassing us no matter where we went. We were always legit with safety gear, registered our bikes/quads and always tried to be respectful but nothing was good enough for them. It’s a crying shame because now instead of stuff like that kids are far from Xbox, drugs are rampant and coupes up inside in all their free time.
They would rather chase you until you get hurt instead of letting you go for a minor offense that no one in the public cares about.
@Automotive_Master_Technician :yeah, it's sad that nowadays every kid you see has their nose stuck in a fricken game 90% of the time. Parents need to get their kids out and take them camping, or get them dirt bikes, or even mountain bikes...anything outdoors. Won't be long and we'll have a country full of people that don't really know how to DO anything. This frustrates me to no end. Actually going winter camping with my son this weekend.

Dirt roads are fine to ride on but the risk on the road is too great. So I see both sides of the issue
@@tdnb2f especially in a city area, a woman was killed in Baltimore by a Quad ATV rider a few years ago. Also, even in the country you have people (including children) walking, running, riding bicycles, etc. The only time I think it is silly is when I see police chase on open fields and back trails, at that point it is stupid to continue the chase.
back in my teenage years, oh about five decades ago, I used to adore running from cops any time I was on my dirt bike. never got caught.
one time I had just replaced the piston on my yamaha mx 175, 1979 model... went out for a ride and got chased by a game warden. about the time I hit 'full boost' something went pop, followed by some rattling and then I was laying down a smoke screen!! got away and found out I had put the piston in backwards, the skirt broke and that pushed out the bottom of the case and all of the transmission oil got sucked out ( smokescreen) fast foreward a few years. I am sitting in a class called introduction to fish and game law. the warden teaching the class claimed to have never lost one person he ever chased except this one crazy guy on a dirt bike. had some james bond shit, left a smokescreen...... it was a huge effort, but I kept a straight face.

Stopping the real bad guys is an option. But we know they won't because they're afraid to do anything that would jeopardize their life *AND* they all know they don't stand a chance against a real threat that's obviously much more well trained than the cops themselves. Plus more often than not there is no money to be made from stopping the real bad guys. There is one more reason of course. If it offends you, well, it's your fault. Cops aren't interested in stopping real crime. Frail unarmed teenagers are an easy target and easy cash grab.

@@ryanmccurdy271 Ok fine, I take it back. They have the balls to do it when they outnumber dangerous target(s) 10 to one, minimum. It is no testament to their skill and bravery when it takes an army of militarized police to neutralize a single rooftop sniper whilst the lone sniper got 5 of them.

I'm 63 expro mx and i have had many fun day like that yrs ago when i was young and going to practice at a open dirt place. Cops love to agrivate a kid like that. Many fond memories relived from this film.

I've known my husband since we were very young. He's my best friend then and now. He took me riding on his mini bike. It had a suspension. The engine however came or of a large riding mower. A v twin. He had the frame stretched to hold the much larger engine. He put brakes on the front. He changed the wheels and tired for on and off road use. He also put lights and signals and a speedometer. He worked mowing grass with a tractor he built. He's very smart. Even now that we're seniors he does things. Anyway the bike with me on it would outrun outmanouver the cop cars. They knew who it was but they liked to give chase. Its fun for them too. Oh yeah, We still have the bike and runs just fine.

And dont forget to put numbers on your bikes so the cops can identify you if they ever see your bike sitting anywhere or just outside your house. That's why I refused ever put a number on anywhere on my bike you know they call and report it a blue bike a green bike yellow bike a red bike okay how many red bikes on the yellow bikes I mean green blue bikes are there out there they come to you and ask you that cuz your bikes a blue or green but if you got a number say like 420 on your front and side number plates its kinda hard to deny and then you can kiss your bike goodbye cuz all police vehicles got dashcams.

I have a dirt bike a built using an adult size mini bike. It has turn signals, hi lo beams, tail/brake light license plate light. Full springed suspension front and rear. Fenders and approved on and off road short cycle tires,dot approved. Its licensed for road use. I do not use it on the interstate. 2 lane blacktop only. Off road as well. Now, I've gotten pulled over many times cause the damn cops think it shouldn't be allowed on the road. Everytime I go to court I prove that it's street legal. I finally had enough so I don't speed, I out maneuver their sorry asses. When I do this, it makes them so mad they keep trying to get me. These assholes know who I am and which way I drive to work and back. Now I cut across using the desert. They finally stopped chasing me when one of them wrecked a cruiser. That was awesome. I checked to make sure he was ok. He was.

It's a dirt bike and it goes a lot faster than you off-road. I don't know why cops have such a hard time with that...
it's because a lot of dirt bikes eat it and get caught messing around on the pavement instead of prioritizing the fastest way to get off road. plus the cops don't really have a choice if they see an unregistered vehicle on the roads it's their job to pull them over even if they know 95% of the time they won't catch them.

Guys...i own a quad because in my country you can't have a licence for an offroad bike and the fine is pretty high...but you can drive a quad on the road with a car's driving licence and me completly legal...i don't think that this makes me 'gay'..no offense
As a now retired cop probably with around 100 pursuits of cars under my belt and a lifelong ATV rider, I never chased an ATV or dirt bike rider. It is too dangerous for the kid you are chasing and I knew I would NEVER write them a ticket or impound their bike. Cops that do that are dorks. Let the kids have fun, just warn them that it is dangerous riding on streets with traffic. Nothing more, nothing less. My kids now ride everywhere and they have never been chased by a cop. My 12 year old went to the gas station and said a highway patrol officer was there. My son told me he filled up his atv and just drove away and the officer just watched him. My son told me that the cop must have thought he was 16 years old and had a license. I just laughed. Good for the California Highway Patrol officer that allowed my son to just be. He was a rare breed for that agency.

tallswede80 that they can. But you’d have to be running from it while avoiding the camera as well, as most drone cameras send video directly to phones so shot down or not they’ll potentially have a image of you either way.

tallswede80 you’d be surprised. I live in a atv friendly town and they’ve helped law enforcement here quite a bit.
Rural upstate NY...was on a Honda XL 500...completely stripped down and illegal as hell. I was Taking the back roads to my dad's house and there was only one paved road I had to cross. I stopped at the intersection and there was a state trooper. He had gone past me so he had to turn around. I zipped across the intersection, took the first road to the right which is a short section of seasonal road...never took the time to turn around and look. At the top of that hill is a hayfield...I jumped the ditch, went 90 mph for 1/2 mile up the field...dipped into the woods. Then I leaned the bike against a tree and stuck my head out of the woods. About 5 minutes later the cop went screaming by...then he went by the other way, and back again...looking for where I turned off. Then there was a plane criss-crossing overhead...a local cop friendly pilot...just doing a favor for popo. I laid the bike down, covered it with leaves...and stayed where I was for several hours. Then wrapped my jacket around the lights and drove out cross country when it was fully dark. Ahhh...the good ole days!!!
