Rob I really enjoy your videos, thanks for documenting your journey. I am rebuilding a 1968 Austin Healey Sprite. I am waiting on parts to put the transmission back together. The car came with a 950 cc but the original was a 1275 cc and I recently found a 1275, so I will be diving into that hopefully soon. And then I will be in the same stage you are in by cutting out and welding body panels. I am a novice at all this and am enjoying learning. I live a few miles south of you guys in Augusta, GA. Thanks again for your videos, I will use them extensively as I begin my bodywork.
Hey Steven. I am in Greenville so not far from you at all. I have been a bit busy with family stuff but I am back in the garage and working at it again. I am glad the videos are helpful.
Wow that brings back memories. I was doing body work on my 1976 mg midget for the last few years. Work on ot put it aside work again. Finally at the place to finish all the inside work carpet etc. And hopefully get it out for a few rides this fall yet.
I am glad you are going to get it finished. Jim is in the process of putting his back together. My project is going much slower. Life getting in the way of progress.
Hey guys, great to see another midget getting restored. I bought my 73 round wheel arch in 1985 when I was 18. Drove it for about 5 years through college and University. At this point I decided it needed restoring. Well, work, family and life got in the way , and the restoration didn’t really start until about 2015 ! Since then I have replaced floors, sills, rear panel, rear cross member, spring hangers, repaired rear wings, replaced front wings (fenders) and front panels. Painted the body and put it all back together again. It left the garage under its own power for the first time a few days ago. I think 74 was the last year for chrome bumpers before the change to rubber bumpers. Will be great to follow your midget projects.
Martin, thanks for your encouraging words. I have learned that you have to be in love with the process as much as the car and motivated to push through as much as driving it in the end. I would love to see some pictures of the finished project. Send me a few at robsrestogarage@gmail.com
I bought a 72 migit and am doing a full restore. I have stripped it, rebuilt the engine, tyranny and front suspension. Currently working rear suspension. Next will be body (got really luck, 0 major rust, floors and wheel arches are perfect). My only issue is it came as pieces so I really have no reassemble references.
I don’t know how many pieces you are dealing with but there should be some good manuals that tell you how things go back together. Hopefully I will remember how mine goes back together when I get to that point.
@@robsrestorationgarage most parts (brackets and such) are good and just need stripped and repainted. A bucket of bolts don't help much, no idea what bolt goes where and the manual only gives a part number. I think the guy I bought it from had other MG projects because my parts available include 2 sets of almost everything. And sometimes other years.
@@bab934 yeah that is a tough one. Sounds like not only do you have a bucket of bolts, you don’t really know if they go with your car. What do you have together so far?
@@robsrestorationgarage it's only got the front suspension and steering. I have been doing the "does this bolt fit, nope, this one" dance. Im half tempted just to order all the bolts I can and replace them.

Excellent work, by both of you, on both projects!
@Steve Hill Jim is way further along than I am. I need to go back and do a follow up episode
