    I love how they finally have this confrontation. I think Jimmy's problem is he truly doesn't care about Chuck anymore, but he does still care about his opinion. He has taken Chuck's worst words, which became Jimmy's biggest insecurity ("You will always be Slippin' Jimmy") and projected them onto Kim. Because he has never dealt with Chuck's death (except for shutting it out as fast as possible), he hasn't dealt with the emotional abuse either, which is slowly tearing him apart.

    I think it's crazy the world keeps expecting him to mourn Chuck just because everyone else put Chuck on a high pedestal.
    I found it unfair that they denied his plea on the grounds he didn't mention his brother. A) this was not about Chuck, this was about Jimmy wanting to be a lawyer again so why keep fishing to find what Jimmy thought of Chuck B) the relation Jimmy shared with Chuck was a personal one. Not even Howard knew that Jimmy had been helping Chuck with his groceries etc everyday. Whatever happened between them, the words that were exchanged were not paraded around to the world.
    So it was unfair on their part to deny Jimmy wanting to be a lawyer just because he wants to close a chapter and move on.
    I kept thinking he's in denial too about Chuck but then I realized what if he's not? What if he's really really done with his brother who always belittled him or never thought he'd be good enough? A brother who much rather see him struggle in the mail room than cheer him on as a lawyer. Chuck could have taken Jimmy under his wing and helped and mentored him once he found out Jimmy is a lawyer but instead he used Howard to keep Jimmy away from the firm. Would I want to talk about such a brother during an important reinstating hearing? It's ridiculous those guys just assumed they knew Jimmy and Chucks relationship and judged Jimmy and called him insincere!

    • @crosselen9766
      @crosselen9766 3 года назад +34

      i totally agree with your mention, it seems like it's a norm, or an expectation from society to see him mourn and be remorseful about his brother's death.
      In this plot, i think Jimmy would only be insincere IF he mentioned Chuck, put himself in a downed position to bait for sympathy.
      The judges weren't looking for sincerity nor honesty, they were looking to see Jimmy reacting the way they expect in their individual standard.

For the remainder of the series, she'll continue to turn hypocrite on-and-off to get what she wants to help further her career telling herself that "they're doing it for good", she'll come close to getting in hot water and suddenly regret ever going along with Jimmy in the first place but Jimmy will pull one of his tricks to protect her and get her out of it (a la Walter with Skankler) and she'll continue to climb the ladder of success while Jimmy switches over to the life of Saul Goodman. Tricky one, because were I a member of that board, I'd agree with Jimmy; a reinstatement hearing is not the place to "capitalize" on the death of a loved one... Not that Jimmy saw it like that but I'd have taken my own opinion on that matter and reconciled it with Jimmy's failure to mention Chuck... Not the time or place...

      Fletcher Hamilton well this is a little different.... his actions towards his brother led to his suspension in the first place.... his brother was a well respected member of the law community and partner at one of the most prestigious law firms in the state.... and now he’s dead......jimmy deliberately excludes him during the hearing cause he has no remorse for what he did to him and doesn’t care that he’s dead.......not even a passing mention!!! He deserved to be denied reinstatement!!!! He was putting on a fake show and truly was insincere!
      To get your beloved career back I’m almost sure you’d play this a little differently!

    • @crosselen9766
      @crosselen9766 3 года назад +8

      i agree with about everything you say until the insincere part because it contradicts what you previously mentioned.
      having no remorse nor sadness about his dead brother doesn't have anything to do with being insincere, and only we as viewers got to watch and know that he was actually VERY sincere about what he expressed. He clearly didn't think much of his brother's passing (although the negative things between him and his brother still haunt his mind), he also didn't think about leaning on his brother's death to soften the judge or put himself in an advantageous position to bait for sympathy.
      What if he doesn't actually care about his brother's death? That would make him emotionless cruel, even sociopath, but not insincere. Here in this case he would only be insincere (and hypocritical) if he mentions about his brother's death and pretend to be sad while he totally isn't.
      I get the impression from some youtube comments in BCS videos that some people clearly believe that because a family member passed away we MUST always have some kind of long-lasting depression or have to show our remembrance to society, otherwise that person is not being honest - which is absurd.

      I don't agree with this at all. Jimmy was insincere bc his last answer was total bullshit. If he'd talked about how he came up into law and how hard his brother made it for him to feel like he could just be a person, all three of them would have been floored. But of course he couldn't bc very few people can be vulerable like that and the toxic relationship they had would have you know sullied the proud reputation of Chuck. Jimmy did a lot to protect his heart he made bad choices instead of trying to process the heavy grief. And it cost him and he could have used it to grow but he didn't. Gene is alive barely and constantly afraid more than ever because Jimmy couldn't face the horrible feelings and layers with his brother.

    • @mrreyes5004
      @mrreyes5004 Год назад

      @@geordiejones5618 Nope. Other people here have already pointed out that Jimmy went into law mostly because of Kim, not Chuck. Ofc Chuck was an inspiration for Jimmy, but not THE inspiration. It's proven by the flashback where Jimmy sees how Kim was impressed by Chuck's high lawyer pedigree, and Jimmy proceeded to enter the firm's library to learn what he could about earning an attorney position. Again, Chuck was part of it, but the main goal for Jimmy was to become the person that he thought Kim wanted.
      It's not that he couldn't deal with his grief for Chuck, because there wasn't any. Jimmy said it himself, he doesn't miss Chuck. What he DID miss was the idea that he might actually live up to Chuck's moral expectations of him, and Jimmy's failure to change his ways is what caused him to make the mistake of becoming Saul Goodman.
