      That’s the irony to me: their instincts _were_ “half legit, half criminal.” That’s why they ended up in the underworld: they had the intellect to rise, but the energy that brings a fall. Greek tragedy principles masterfully written.

      Jesse shouldn’t have tried to kill the guys who killed Combo that’s on Jesse. I know Walt wanted to expand territory but Walt wants to make as much money as possible. Jesse messed up because he wanted revenge when he was already making a bunch of money.

    Why didn’t Mike just offload their stuff to Declan? He could’ve potentially kept Gus out of harms way and kept the Suoerlab safe under the guidance of Gale who was far more disciplined. If he tthought Walt was high risk, he could’ve used Saul as an intermediary whilst making high profit margins at an arms length with little to no blowback or liability if /when Walt and Jesse went haywire.

    • @fictionnerd78
      @fictionnerd78 3 месяца назад +15

      Excellent point, but the way I see it, Mike may be Gus’s advisor and guard, but he’s not his babysitter. If Gus deems direct contact with Walt to be necessary, then so be it. Also, Mike saw Walt and Jesse as amateurs and it was only after S3 when he realized just how dangerous they truly were. Basically, in my view, this is a case where Mike severely underestimated just how much of a problem Walt and Jesse were going to be. I’m confident that if S5 Mike was in these shoes, he would handle the situation very differently. But still, a fantastic point and one that definitely got me thinking, so well done, this is just my thoughts.

Also, Gus has probably seen how people like Tuco Salamanca work, which would add to his caution.
