Now, whether that was ENTIRELY because of his own shortcomings or because he got screwed over, it’s hard to say EXACTLY. But the point is: his EGO was grievously WOUNDED by the Gray Matter situation years before and he “carried a chip on his shoulder” for all the years FOLLOWING THAT, feeling that he was OWED something.
