I love what you did with the white lettering on the rubber, looks great kid
Thank you
I've been binge-watching this build most of the day and I love it man. I'm literally going tomorrow to buy one of these bikes and this will be my first ever project. I'm going to be learning everything on this bike. You've already shown me a lot though.
Tank, frame and tyres......What a beautiful combo.....Thanks for posting.
Thanks for watching and commenting
Loving the white lettering...it's all coming together 👍
Thanks, not long to go now.
Beautiful 👌
Thanks Jish.
Nice! The tires fits nicely on the mags.
Thanks
WOW! Has that bike ever come together nicely! well done.
Thank you
Gorgeous. When you hung the tank in front of the camera I held my breath!! Thought it was gonna go!! Well done. Look forward to seeing it at the weekend.
Thanks, it did get resprayed for a 3rd time after this video.
Love what you did to tyres, sometimes simplest things most effective 👍
Thank you.
Looking forward to hear it! I visited London and Bristol last week! Very beautiful cities. I wish I could see those bikes for real! Cheers!
Next time make Chester on your list, another beautiful city
Cracking job, like the white lettering on the tyres.
Thank you, glad you like it.
Looking good!! Can't wait to see it this Friday!!
Excellent, thank you.
Really good, looking forward to seeing it on Saturday.
Thank you. Hope it'll live up to standards.
I am sure it will.
tire lettering looks awesome!
Thank you.
Hopefully see you there...
Hopefully, I'll be there on the Friday and Sunday
Looks great! Hope to admire the bike even more at the Bike Shed London ✌
Thanks, hope you had a good time there.
Damn this turns out so beautiful.
Thanks
Amazing as always! Im abroad in europe for a moths so my bike has to wait a little. And this makes me miss it even more haha. Love the videos, always puts a big smile on my face
Enjoy Europe, stay safe.
Nice touch pairing the tires. Looking great man. Congrats.
Thanks
Love the tires. I think I would have colored in the front tire letters to. Just to make it look even. But the bike looks good. Congratulations on a job well done.
Thanks, nearly there.
awesome, looking great, hope things go well at the show, love how the back tire looks with the white lettering, personally, think would look good on the front tire also, a little more white, but can understand and respect your reason for not doing it, it is after all, your bike. Please keep up the good work and the awesome videos
Thanks, glad you like the lettering.
Please do an engine startup when it's done! I want to hear that sound so badly after watching You build this bike for such a long time! I've done a startup on my current project yesterday - it was a hell of a feeling:D
The start up will be this week, although I don't think I'll release the video until after the Bike Shed show as I'll have so much to do and film this week.
Looks great. Wish i could be at show.
Thanks, shame you can't,
Great videos man! I would caution you though on using a dead blow hammer on the axle. I know sometimes there is no other choice if its stubborn, but if you're not careful you can side load the wheel bearings. Stay safe!
Thank you, luckily the hammer is only a soft rubber mallet for working on porcelain tiles etc, so not as harsh as a dead blow.
Tolles Video😍 ich hoffe du schaffst es in den 6 Tagen😉
Thanks, 4 days left now!
Parabéns!!! Congratulations... great job!!! Rodas ComStar. Igual as da minha Honda CB400 1981.
Thanks.
Are you from Portugal? I'm moving over there next Jan and bringing my Cx500 👍
No. Wales.
Great work
Thanks Auggie
Congrats on 50k subs👍👍
Thank you. Thanks for your support,
really nice to see it "complete", great job man! can you do video about helicoils? Thanks, Ondrej.
Thanks, helicoil video will be up after the Bike Shed Show video (but pre-recording it tonight)
Did you have to use tubes with these tires?
Wow.....!
Love, love, love it! Up in Edinburgh so a bit too far to pop over to view in the flesh. Hope the launch goes well. Just modding my ‘77 Yam XS400. Did you manage to find the front headlight and indicators on Amazon? Thinking of trying to place a 4.5” one so that it sites quite far back between the forks. Looks like you used a 7” unit? Would you be able to share a link at all. Looking forward to seeing a vid of the bike at shed 👍🏻 exciting times.
Ah that's a shame, maybe one day, it's worth the visit. The front headlight was from Amazon but a 6.5", I am installing indicators, they'll be on the forks themselves as wrap around LEDs
Fab! Again, hope all goes swimmingly :)
Just bought Pirelli Route 66 s for my vn800 bobber. How did you prep yours before doing the lettering? By the way your bike is stunning.
Cheers.
Pete Allen.
No need to prep just draw straight on
Loving that rear tyre it looks sick, curious as to why you never done the front?
Thanks, from a design point of view I was thinking the front as well would be over kill.
For The Bold - dreegez I can see your thinking but I think the front rubber just looks lost now.
What did he use for the lettering? From US and never seen something like that, is that White Out? a White Sharpie? Is it specifically used for tire lettering?
Will your bike only be at the show ground or will you be riding to the Shoreditch shop at any point? I'm round the corner so poke my head in most lunch breaks.. would love to see it in the flesh!
No sorry, vanning it straight to the show to keep it clean, I will take it to the shop one day.
For The Bold - dreegez probably for the best.... Was gonna steal your tank when noone was looking 👍
Omg mate. It’s looks fantastic!!! Have love watching it come along. What paint to you just for the tyres? Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
Thanks, a little more needed doing but there's light now at the end of the tunnel. I just used standard tyre paint pen, available from Amazon
Quick questions on tire selection. How did you choose that tire? Are both front and rear tires the same size?
No, they're set to the original size that the bike has (nearly, I increased the front width by 20mm) Not advisable to have same size tyres as your front needs to be thinner, also your rims on bikes like this will be smaller in the rear.
Thanks. I’m working on an 83 XJ750 cafe build and wanting to choose tires. Not real sure which way to go with it but will probably reduce rear width a little to come closer to front size. Any suggestions?
Without measuring the gap you have and comparing against the original it's hard to say, but my advice is don't stray too far away from stock.
Nice video collection you've got. What kind of white marker is that, you used on the tires?
Thanks, I've just used standard white tyre paint pen from Amazon.
Thanks, didn't even know that such a thing existed :)
Hi , l am close to completing my 1979 cx 500 cafe racer . My next step are new tyres. I really like your choice of the pirelli,s. Nice and chunky without being OTT. What size did you use ? Great videos by the way 👍👍👍
I used 100, 90, 19 for the front and 120, 90, 18 for the rear, the customs come with 16" rear rims so depends what wheels you have on.
For The Bold - dreegez I have the same wheels as you. Your pirellis looks great so I think I'll give them a go. Thanks for your reply. Keep up the good work 👍👍👍
Im 16 and am thinking of buying a bmw r100 do you think that would be a good bike for a beginner to build into a cafe racer?
It's a tricky bike and engine, and depending on where you live you may not be allowed to ride it until 22 (especially in the UK)
For The Bold - dreegez yeah good idea i was also thinking a honda cb. Do u think we might see a bmw build in the future though?
Absolutely, I would love an R in here, or even a K model
For The Bold - dreegez oh yeah i forgot about the k models they are actually ridiculously cheap over here i have a thing for the boxer engines though. Also thx for the replies i appreciate it
Why not paint marker the front wheels too?
I'm looking at getting a 125 to be my first cafe build, but I'm confused as to measuring up for wheel size and tires.
I like the fat tires with plenty of tred like delboy used on his triumph scrambler build
Would have been overkill. Little and subtle touches make the bike. TKC80 are good scrambler dual tyres. Width is restricted by your wheel width
@@forthebold thanks for the quick response man.
I've been looking around for a while for a bike, even looked at auctions in Manchester but nothing has caught my eye yet
Awesome work. The bike looks insane. I’m getting parts for my cafe racer and looking into wheels. What size tires are you using on this bike. Thanks
Thanks, from memory on this bike fronts are 19, 90, 100 and rears are 18, 90, 120
Beautiful! Hey what kind of paint did you use on the tires? When I was in the navy, we used to use white out, LoL. The pilots thought it was the coolest thing to come out to their plane and have white letters or even white walls. You get good comindations with that kind of attention to detail. I love the cx, but I really excited about the gs, because I have a gs650gl. My bike has more power, or will when I'm done... nener nener. Great vid.
Oh yeah! Have you seen the new 2018 street legal Maico 685 enduro? Such a beautiful bike. Check it out.
It's just normal tyre pen paint, available on Amazon, yeah it's the detail part now, hopefully all coming together and the GS will be back once the CX has gone off to the Bike Shed
No, I haven't seen it, I loved the last 800cc 2 stroke they brought out.
For The Bold - dreegez
You mean the 700cc intimidator?.. Yeah atk stopped building the engine and KTM has absorbed Maico to keep it alive. It's the same engine but KTM has maid them call it by the true cc. 86 horse ponies. I want one so bad. They have upgraded it to pass Euro 4.
That's the one, a little optimistic with the CC there. Although the 82 490 I have is still a beast 36 years on.
Have you managed to take it out for a ride with these one yet, thinking of getting some for my cb750 but heard mixed reviews on handling but they do look sweet
Handling wise they are definitely touring tyres, made for Route 66 itself which is straight, this bike for me will always just be for easy riding around town and dual carriageway, so if you're thinking of taking it sideways I wouldn't advise these.
For The Bold - dreegez thanks for the reply, yeah this will be my sunny day easy rider bike so think they will be okay :)
Yeah should be fine, just don't trey to get that knee to scrape the floor ;)
Haha no shan't be doing that 🙊
what size is that rear one? doesn't fit on CB750, i guess :/ (need a new one on the back)
It’s 18”. No it won’t fit a CB750’as this is shaft driven
what maker are you using for the wording ?
Tyre marker pen
No V neck?🤯
No V neck, wash day!
hows it going?
Good thanks and you?
good mate, you looked wrecked in your last video. I figured you where slightly out of control, I have been eagerly waiting on your updates. Thats all. The cx has been really effective with the red frame looks great. all the best.
Morning, what paint did you use on the tyres?
I used standard tyre paint pen.
I was wondering that as well, didn't imagine there's a pen for that. Can't wait for more, love what you are doing!
Hi i have a question will there be any issues if and when your K&N filters get wet
No, they will have a coating of K&N filter oil to stop all that & dirt.
Thank you.
spookyraider, -its very rare, I had minor problems once-yyears ago when I was in very fine rain all day, the bike still ran, just spluttered abit on acceleration, you can get prefilter mesh if you think you might have problems, I use it on my Harley as its filter is stuck out in the breeze on the side of the bike, but as long as you clean and oil the filter(s), they'll be OK.
so you have to be careful when washing your bike
Not really-just dont aim the water at the filters, I cover mine with a plastic bag because on harleys its on the side of the motor, not at the back, but on my other bikes I don't bother, hope that helps.
Why not paint the front tire too? Do it please. ;)
I decided that at the back only would give more emphasis on that rear tyre.
IMO it would look better if the front tire was painted too
Hi mate, did you put 120/90 r18 in rear?
Sure did
For The Bold does it fit well? Stock is 110/90r18
Yeah easy. I went 130 on the Tracker CX I built but that was a fatter 16” rim. The swing arm can take 140 but depends what your rim is. If you have 2.5” then it’s no problem
For The Bold I think stock on mine is 2.15.
I can’t remember the chart off he top of my head by tut I think 120 is the widest on 2.15. Although I have got away with a 140 TKC80 on one before
Link for the handlebars please
Try dime City Cycles for a selection
Hey man I am new here and i want to build a cafe racer. Will a KEEWAY CAFE RACER 152 do it?
I've not come across them before but I always say that any bike could be a good bike.
Yuhkeesh Rajasekaran go to my channel you will see mine. Keeway superlight café racer conversion
Hi sir, What is the size of your tires. both front and rear. Thank you.
Front 100 90 19. Rear 120 90 18
@@forthebold I have a question, what is 19 and 18?
The rim size
@@forthebold Oh okay. Thank you so much. I liked your videos, btw.
hey is it the 18 inch rims rear ?? whats the tire dimensions ?? thanks
Yeah they are, I used 120 | 90 | 18
thanks for the fast reply I'm building one too with R1 front end mono shock conversion . i was thinking to get the continental tire u put on the 750, u think it will fit and won't rub ? 120 /90/ 18 ??
@@jaylinga4635 I put a 130 tkc80 on the Tracker CX500, I could have gone up 140
@@forthebold so get 140 TKc80 18 ? thanks again
@@forthebold i check the TKC80 for the size they only make tube type would this be a problem ?
What are the tyre sizes? I'm looking to replace my 1978 CX500 tyres. Thanks!
Rears are 120 / 90 / 18 and fronts are 100 / 90 / 19
@@forthebold i have rear 130/90/16 ..1979 cx500
do you think i can fit on the front 110 ?
Depends what the width of your rim is and whether you want a mudguard
@@forthebold orginaly i have 100/90/19 and maybe i will stay with this ✌️ worst Part now.. Controls and electrics 😢
may I know the rim size of front and rear ? :)
Rims on the standard CX are 19 front and 18 rears.
A crew neck t shirt!??! How dare you! Wheres the v, vee?!
Laundry day!
Wheels are dope, rims kinda ruin it i think
Thanks, I do like the wheels myself, spokes would be much nicer but cost way too much.
This bike looks like copy of copy of copy of instagram picture. Do you ride it? Looks very uncomfortable.
Not sure what that means. A lot of copies of it have been made that I’ve seen since I’ve built it. It’s actually really fun and comfortable to ride.
yeah you look a bit tired and pale - well done
Just a bit tired but the paleness comes from the sun light bleaching out my lens luckily.
yeah good luck in tabaco docks - ill get some pics to you when mines completed, mono with bsa light and fstone thickies
Very nice
