I love getting ideas from your thread, so much passion!!!!
I enjoy it.
Those tires look super mean! I’m digging it!
I didn't think that rim would look good with this beautiful bike but actually it compliments it . Great job, rolling art.
Thanks, it does
I admit I cringed when I first saw the tires but I absolutely love how your vision comes together. Some kind of a hybrid, like "Mad Max" x "Walking Dead". Here on the other side of the pond we'd attach a large caliber machine gun to the front end for good measure but I understand that in the UK this might be frowned upon. My two pennies worth: you should shorten the front forks and consider a handlebar instead of the clip ons. Another idea for the tank: you could turn the rust form a potential problem to design feature. A friend of mine treated his stripped down tank bare metal with ferric chloride, then sanded it lightly and put a clear top coat on it. Looks awesome but will for sure divide opinions even more.
Finishing up on my CB750 Cafe Build. Definitely going with this aggressive tire. Thx!!
Everytime I watch your vids, you change my mind on what I want to do on my next project. Now I want to do a scrambler. Keep up the awesome vids.
Those tyres are savage looking. It’s gonna be epic when it’s finished. And your mate is right on the seat colour can’t wait to see it finished 👍🏻
Truely is.
Mad max would be proud! 👍🏽
And Batman.
Those tires are sick! I would love to see a scrambler, but its your bike so do what will make you happy!
Tyres are badass! Had to go back to see your job on the cowl. Nicely done!
Thanks. It’s coming together
TKC’s are fine for all year round everyday road riding. If they weren’t BMW would never have fitted them to the GS - too much liability claim otherwise. Not especially noisy but there is some vibration especially at low speed. I’m considering taking them off of the 1200 Bandit despite loving the look because it has a bit too much torque and spins the back wheel just a bit too easily if the roads are damp which means I’m not getting much mileage out if the back tyre.
Moto Mirius you know what a clutch is?
Nick Karsten why would I use the clutch when overtaking?
I like the way this is going. Tyres look awesome. I would loose the clip ons though and go with a nice wide set of slightly set back renthal style bars. Personal preference though. Good job 👍
Go bold, we had thought of Pro Tapers but we've lost so much height off the seat, also wasn't aggressive enough.
I’ve been struggling finding a rear wheel in 17” or 18”. I found one but the width was 2.15. I am not sure it will look good with a narrow wheel. If you ever come across a 2.50 by 17” or 18” with drum plate, let me know. I am desperate. Keep up the good work mate.
Dam that looks awesome. I can't wait to see this finished.
A fatbar handlebar would go very well with this style... Is your friend/are you going for clip ons? :/ That would be a wierd combo IMHO...
Push the boundaries of the norm ;) We've taken a lot off the height of the seating and pushed back the pegs so we're kinda compensating for that. Wait until you see what else is being done, it's going to be the most aggressive out there.
@@forthebold Well, I have to admit, I get a lot of comments on my project that I should be using clip ons instead of a straight bar! Haha. So I am pretty stubborn to! But in this case: off road tires combined with clip ons... But we'll wait till the end and see how it works out! I'm eager to see! Keep it up!
Your project looks good. It’s good to mix it up. It’s what make our builds unique
I agree!! This bike will look fire!! 🔥🔥💯
Congrats on being first.
@@forthebold thanks😁
I love it! Just got my cm450 wired up and looking good! Love the videos! Always motivating
Excellent, hard part done
Count me in. Love them!
Cool. you're in.
Tires look good and they handle just fine for most. I know a guy that can out ride many sport bikes with those on a KLR.
I agree that bike will look very mean but why don't you clear coat the tank and tail it should adhere fine with a brushed finish on the steel :)
My same idea...
I was thinking that exact same thing.
It's the tactile / feel of the tank we'd loose, we had considered it, even clear powdercoat, but we'd lose that rawness, wait until you see what else we're doing to the tank.
You can't really clear coat bare metal. It will rust under the clear coat.
I just put a new gold chain on my gs650e. Looks incredible. Great choice.
Excellent. They seem more popular than I thought
Weil tyres Look cool, but Please dont Go with Low clip ons, Go with some brat or flat tracker handlebars
We're going against the norm and not following the crowd on this one, tracker bars just lose that aggression out the front. And I'm surprised at that coming from an MX background.
You deserve more subscribed. Very quality build
Thanks. Kind of you to say
That looks awesome. 👊
Loving the look, she is going to turn some heads👍a leather tool bag would look great on it
What is that bolt bucket holder?!?!?! I must have one!
From B&Q
I think they look OK. There are plenty of adventure bike riders that do many road miles on those and only a little off road stuff.
Makes a cup of "coffee", takes a sip "Ooo that's hot", five seconds later takes another sip "Ooo that's still hot". I'm guessing things don't cool off any faster in the UK than it does here in the states. (But aren't they suppose to be fond of tea???)
Wait until winter. Drinks cool faster than nobody’s business. Gotta drink them before they’re cold.
Bike looks super aggressive, love it!! Straight bars would suit way better though I think :)
Wit until you see the final bike, straight bars to me just doesn't have that aggression needed, and also loses that aggression from a riding stance too.
Looking forward to it!!
It’s your vision and that’s cool I respect that but knobblies are not for me they look daft unless they are on a motocross bike. But hey it still has two wheels and an engine so I’m still watching 👍🏾 now get that blooming GS finished.
Knobs always look the best. I have the same water pot. LoL.
Most 750 models 79 83 came with rear tires 100 to 140 depending on manufacturers.
I think it was 120 originally on here when I got the bike regretted not going another 10mm on the rear to 140
This is making me want to stop working on my Virago 750 and work on the CB750 :-)
Enjoy building both.
I’m surprised that’s a drum on the back. Tyres look great.
I'm from a generation of MX bikes with front & rear drums, rear doesn't bother me too much as I don't use it too often.
Why not using clear coat in both the engine and the tank? They will be protected from the elements and the polishing part that gave you so much work will keep its look instead of rusting out.
Engine because I want a satin finish. And the tank: if I clear coat it it’ll change the feel of it to touch. It’s all in the touch also give it a sheen that I don’t want in the light.
@@forthebold You're right, but that's also kinda crazy. Thanks for the reply :)
A lot of krazy is good when building. If it made sense we’d be boring.
thought I was watching a coffee advert when the video started! Tyres look good if the rest of the bike match them. Clip ons won't suit the style imo, and 2pac clear coat the tank to stop it spoiling. 😉
Trust me, wait until you see the final, they will.
For The Bold - dreegez I look forward to seeing it finished. 👍
Your friend has good taste.
Sure does.
BADDASSERY!!!
Hi. What cushion has he put on? Saludos desde Argentina. Sigo está moto hace mucho
Hello, love your content, really inspiring, especially suzuki gs 550, maybe because we are getting one with father, we found one around 600 pounds and she is in good condition, it is probably cheap because of custom paintjob which is weird, but who cares about color when rebuilding. Did you have problems with parts availability? Or there is enough of everything online? Thank you, have a nice day
I have sport cruising tire on my kz750 I love them.
Great to hear👍
I cant wait 19 part, Where it is...
Damn instant coffee. Lol some brit chickory. When i go deep sea fishing in mexico, that for the most part is all they have in most restraunts where i am. Enough sugar and milk will make gasoline taste alright lol.
I love chickory essence. Unfortunately real coffee would have me shaking on the floor
@@forthebold haha, being from the us the only real reason i know of chickory was in history books, it came up while learning about the us civil war. Supplies were limited and chickory was a replacement for coffee. Does it really have all that much more kick over a regular cup of coffee? Or are you just a serious lightweight?
Yeah that’s it. Good knowledge. I just can’t handle real coffee. Sends me completely west
looks awesome to me
And me
And me
Am I right in thinking your back wheel is 18 inch? If so where did you find the 130 tire? I can only find 120s
You are making a SCRAMBLER not a Cafe Racer! LOL You're right they are NOT my choice of tire, but its NOT my Bike !!! I do like the build besides the tires ! LOL
It’s still mostly cafe racer as all other components are still the essence of a racer. I guess it’s like if I was to put blue flashing lights on it it won’t make it a police bike 👍. I would however like to do a proper scrambler one day. Narrower engine, long seat, higher bars and high mounted exhausts along with belly plates.
Think unless you clear the tank it'll surface rust no matter how careful you are, but hopefully I'm wrong. Tyres look better than the coffee 😆. I like them, didn't think I would.
There's a really neat product we've found, that guarantees only needs oiling once a year, worth a try and a review on the channel
That sounds really good. Hopefully it’s as good as they say, be interested to see how it goes 👍
Nice Love your Videos 😃 1.
Thanks
I own a Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 which comes with stock Pirelli Sports Comp tyres. Am thinking of replacing them with off road tyres. What is your opinion?
These are really good dual use.
Will you be upholstering the seat or what are your plans for it?
Love it!!
Thanks
Great tire choice ! Perfect match for the attitude the client desired. Only hope those weren't your wife's drapes you used to protect the powder coated frame.
What is the size rim are you running in the back?
Hey! I'm doing a CB750 FB build and I really like the look of the rear shocks. With the link you have provided, will the size they come in (320mm) be ok? for some reason I thought they were bigger?
Hey, go with the same size as what the originals are eye to eye. Safe to stick to the same
looking great! but piss the clip ons off and go with some renthals.
Staying with the clip ons, sorry not sorry. :)
I dont know if anyone has mentioned it before but, did you think about a clear powdercoat on the tank to help keep it from rusting?
No need. Boiled linseed oil keeps it from rusting. Been a year now and still no rust.
Nice build
Wondering if you can tell what kind of tires are those
Beautiful
I’m building the same bike
If you give the sizes and brand thanks
They’re TKC80 but as for the size you’ll have to match them to your rims and available space. My size probably wouldn’t fit you.
For The Bold I have the same rims. What size tire are they?
I fitted these tyres to my cafe racer. The Bike looked mean and different. Very similar to your build actually. Especially the seat unit.
Yes it did split opinion too, especially with the traditionalist folks... but they are incredible tyres. Extremely grippy and soft . Pretty good in the wet too. The sacrifice is they wear quick. Not much vibration once you wear the profile off the rubber.
I Won some shows with the bike too so it couldn’t have looked that bad lol.
Check out my insta- wolf77customs. You’ll see the 750 zephyr down the bottom. It runs sticky tyres now as I hammered the tck80’s and fancied a change.
Best of luck 👍
Anything to split opinion is good. Glad to hear you were pleased with them.
Knobby tires make anything look mean. Cafe/scrambler look i like it.
Instant coffe? ):
I can't drink real coffee.
it's not decafe is it !? Lol
The cb is going to look sick. I like unfinished metal look as well. But your paint work is excellent!
what kind of shocks are you running on that bike??
Question about the centering of the rear wheel. I have an 81, and I cut out the main part of the frame that is behind your rear most electronics tray. My rear wheel is about a centimeter off, and I fear it’s because I did that. Does your rear wheel line up perfectly centered with your tail hoop?
From memory it was central. Best way to line up the wheel is to fit the rear sprocket on and see how that aligns with the front sprocket. They should be straight.
For The Bold Thanks for getting back, man! Geeking out on your videos lately. I think it’s just barely off center as you go higher to the frame. It was a clean bike when I started and everything was straight so I messed something up. The spockets line up fine. Centered in the swingarm. I think I need to use some come along straps and weld more supports. Yours is far more reinforced than mine.
I find you on the Instagram and see if I can’t send some photos.
Hi, you're not gona put a coat of varnish on the tank so it doen't rust ?
No. I don’t want to alter the feel of the metal. So we’re going to try a new that’s out that they say will protect it.
any problem to put wheels like this on the road?
None at all they’re dual sport
Putting knobby tires on a cafe racer is like forcing a ballet dancer to wear baseball cleats. Like the poseurs in the lifted show trucks with low-profile mud tires, you’re not fooling anybody. I’d be surprised if your customer makes it an entire riding season before ditching those tires for a smooth-riding set of Metzelers.
Have you ever used these? They’re 60 40 and are really smooth on the road. He even lives near a beach which means sand is on the road sometimes on his morning ride.
For The Bold I put a set of dual-sport tires on my Ducati Hypermotard (I don’t remember what brand), thinking it would make the bike look tough. They picked up and slung every pebble on the road, rattled the bike so badly that my mirrors were blurs, and tried to low-side me several times through turns that I had previously hammered without a wiggle. In two months I was spooning on a set of Pirellis. Your CB750 is a righteous build, but one of the appeals of a cafe racer is that it’s designed to TURN. Knobby tires cripple that asset. What you end up with is a bike with too little suspension travel to be good off-road, and insufficient grip to be good through the turns. Now you have an expensive custom bike with very little functional value. Love the bike, but in my opinion those tires are cool for a movie bike but not for the real world.
I would recommend the TKC80 then to try out. Everything you mention wrong with your dual sport tyres I’ve not had an issue with on 2 builds I’ve tried them on. A friend of mine also swears by them on every bike of his. Especially on Welsh roads. Even on Florida’s concrete I found them smooth and sharp to turn. No bumps no nothing.
@@forthebold I'm not sure the World Superbike and Moto GP guys have gotten this memo yet. I can't imagine why they're still running slicks. (Wink)
72 RetroHawk well that’s just a completely different application all together. It’s like formula 1 racing on monster truck wheels.
Did you use the original Rim?
Sure did.
Need the link to the tires
Just Google TKC80
What model of tyres are those from Conti?
Tkc80
Owns a Porsche, builds sweet ass cafe racers but drinks instant........what gives? Love the channel though!
I can’t handle the real stuff. This is even decaf
@@forthebold - I drink decaf every now and then and a lady I work with calls it muddy water. If you don't drink much coffee, get yourself a French press. One cup at a time, fresh great coffee from a french press, even if it's decaf.
What was that rack you put that cup of parts into? Wall mounted?
It’s my parts organiser.
You lost me at the tires. I'm not a fan of knobies on a street bike.
what in the world is that beverage at the top of the video??
In the words of Kanye West, Poop
Could you give all the Dimensions of the tires?
front- 100/90/19 rear- 130/80/17
@@forthebold
Thanks! I am currently looking At continental roadattack2s.
Do you think 110/80/19 Front and 130/80/18 rear would fit?
depends what your rims are, if you have a rear rim of 17" like mine then an 18" won't fit, also you need to check that the width of your rim can take 110.
What width is your rear rim? Is it a 2.15 or a 2.50?
On the CB750 it was a 2.50
What is the name of tyre
Continental TKC80
I’m split with the tires I like the rat bike/dirt track bike look but I also don’t
Wait until it's at the Bike Shed, it'll be awesome
Ahh yes, the good ol dual sport tire, the worst of both worlds
Love them
Pls tell tyre size!!!
rear: 140 / 90 / 17, front: 100 / 90 / 19
Are you sure about that. You did say 130 on the rear in your video.
140 would easily fit.
No.
Yes
And this will be shitty riding i Tell you😌😂
They're not too bad you know, tried some on another bike.
Haha starting to look like my bike! :D Check @builtbymoe on instagram :D
Love it!!!
Excellent
