@Gavin it was easy but when you go to do the repair, place the car in neutral, chock the wheels so they’re secure and then jack up the car until you can get it on jack stands. I placed my emergency break on and it made it difficult to remove the brake caliper. I also purchased some anti seize paste and smears it on the CV axle splines. Mainly where they insert into the transmission. You’ll also have transmission fluid that will leak out, so have some of that handy to refill the reservoir. It’s also difficult to access the filling hole, so you’ll want a funnel that has a plastic hose attachment (I found an affordable one at Autozone) In all, I spent about 6 hours and $300 to make the repair.

I’m looking at parts now but the images I don’t see the ball rolling bearings attached to the bottom of it. Are they sold Separately? Or the image just does not show it
The cv axle wouldn't come out with pry bars but I made a makeshift slide hammer with a strap tied to the cv axle closest to the transmission and on the other end a cross bar, yanked it hard quite a few times and it popped out.
Is this a 1.6 L engine, I have a 2.0 turbo and when I look up the CV axle it shows with femal spines on trans side not like this one with male splines on trans side?
I have a 2008 Malibu. When I look for this part they all say they don't included the abs tone ring. It also says it can fit the driver or passenger side and to transfer inner stub from original axle. I really don't know which one to buy.
absolutely YES. He tipped the spindle by removing the adjustment bolts. If you tip it by removing the lower ball joint then you don't have the added expense of an alignment.

With the car being so new…. Why was the transmission fluid so dark when you pulled the part?
That's what I was thinking, that tranny is shot or going to be real soon

If it only makes a noise when you hit the brakes could it be a CV axle as well??
