Synthetic = hydrophobic(hates moisture so dries quickly). Wool = hydrophilic(loves moisture so dries slower but doesn’t stink). Pros and cons to both. If you’re going to go cheap on a rain jacket I recommend polyester over nylon. Nylon is stronger until it gets wet and then it doesn’t matter at that point. It gets on polyesters level but polyester dries faster and doesn’t wet out near as fast. That’s why most workout shirts are polyester.
