After 20 years of shooting, I am finally going to get to move to a free state. The first purchase I make (after the house of course) is going to be a HUXWRX can.
Nice! Check the laws though. When I moved to MI, I had to establish residency for 6 months before buying a suppressor.
@57 Priest Really? I don't think that's a thing where I'm going but I will make sure to ask. Thanks for the heads up!
My first time shooting suppressed was at a Sage class you taught back in 2019. Fast forward to today, there’s a suppressor on every center fire rifle in the house. I can’t remember the last time I shot an unsuppressed rifle actually 😅
You are 100% on point with the suppressor covers. Cover acts as a high temperature oven. Great tool on precision rifles for mirage. I've burned/melted off several and it was a huge waste of money. BPG being the worst as the heat actually burns the bungee retention to the point where it becomes useless. Great vid.
If you don’t have a modtac on your suppressor you’re fucking up.
get a Liberty defense cover, apparently those actually work but cost like 3x that of anyone else.
@@killacamfoo that's what I heard too. Maybe in the future I will give it a shot.
I completely agree on the covers....the best application for a suppressor cover is for a K9 handler...don't want the good boi to get burned.
That's why I like the Griffin Armament M4SDK and 30SD-K suppressors. Even though I use the Griffin Armament Flash Hiders on my rifles, I can remove the suppressors and they will attach to any rifle with a Mil-Spec A2 Birdcage Flash Hider.
This is why I want the SFA2 muzzle device, because I want the B&T RBS can. Plus I can use SF cans on it too
This was definitely educational. Great video Jon.
Excellent info, Jon, thank you!
I’ll share this with my friends that I’m trying to get into cans. good info
Awesome content as always!
I promise you the bootleg BCG does far more than a “marginal” impact. It has been through easily 3k round count for me. No issues and do not “need more maintenance” highly recommend for standard baffle suppressor
Sorry if came off preachy I feel that strongly for the bootleg, love your content
I used them for a while and had a different experience once they were dirty.
Just a bit of info, as a person that with knowledge in psychology, using "do not" instead of don't means deception, js
Bought deadair cans first so I throw Keymo on all my other cans. Basically every rifle I have has it’s own can now but it’s nice to be able to shorten one up if I want to. Easy to just swap em around.
Thank you for the buffer springs and buffer weights advice. That's much cheaper than an AGB.
Good video. I didn't expect you to hit the carbon weight increase aspect cause most people overlook that. The CLR method you mentioned works beautifully on the surefires for that. Just take care on the external finish to be safe.
Guys, PWS has the mk116 pro uppers on sale for 650 right now. That would be great to prevent the gas to the face. Long stroke piston upper than runs on a standard lower. Very great option as well.
I'm really looking forward to the Velos LBP. I've wanted a 223 specific can for a while and I'm already invested in Silencer Co.
Great thanks sir
I have a Sico Omega .300 and it was a pain in the ass tuning it for my SBR.
I have a Dead Air Sandman S (300B super and 5.56) and a SiCo Omega 9k (9mm and 300Blk subs). I don't feel like I need any more cans.
My Sandman is dedicated for QD to various barrels.
The Omega currently is set up for 3-lug.
Been training relatively hardcore (for a dirty civ) for the last 3-4 years. I carried a g19 for a few years before but I didn't take training seriously until the last 3 years ish. I don't have night vision or thermal, and I don't have any cans yet. This has to be my next step in gear, but man the whole tax stamp thing is super discouraging.
It’s so easy and definitely worth it
@@williamboggs1682 appreciate your experience. What does the tax stamp actually entail? I've heard you have to "sign your rights away" to get one. That was from people on a public range I don't even know personally. Is that true?
Just have to get some fingerprints done, take a passport style photo, and fill out some forms. Then you wait 270 days or something
@@l337l0gan no that’s not true at all it’s easy and you give up nothing and gain everything really as easy as it is there’s no excuse to not shoot suppressed it’s literally better in every way don’t wait get one started today
@@l337l0gan if you buy your guns with a 4473 you’re already registered on paperwork, I have cans and I don’t feel like I “signed my rights away.” To each their own.
Have you had any personal experience with the otter creek cans or the cgs sci six? I’ve heard good things about both. Leaning towards something different than my Surefire for an 11.5.
Dang it. I tried watching this video all the way through but didn't hear a word you said cuz I was imagining myself flying the Millennium Falcon around smoking Tie fighters and asteroid dinosaurs. 😂
The Dead Air Pyro is interesting. Basically a QD compensator for their flash hiders but also has an insert to make it a blast diverter.
It's a "interesting" way to spend $350 on a muzzle device that usually costs $30-80.
@@Prodigysportsman Then don't buy one.
Cleaning clr in an ultrasonic cleaner (if it's safe on your finish)
I've seen a cutaway of a KAC NT4 with 50k rounds through it and its completely gummed up. All suppressors need to be cleaned, it just varies with how long each design takes to get carbon filled.
Also for the lead posion/gas in ur face issues, if u are able run piston guns PWS, with their long stroke systems or short stroke stuff hk 416,sig mcx etc. especially as a lefty the DI system wasn’t going to work. And it reduces the gas in ur face drastically.
Was going to say this. PWS and cans go together like PB&J!
You still get gas down the bore. Que USMC Suppressed M27 IARs. Shits gassy compared to an M4, with a free flow-esque can
In the early days I kept pot holders or welders gloves for cans that were hot, back when one can had multiple Firearms to go on in a session
Same. I've just been bringing one of my welding gloves with me on range trips. If I need to pack up without letting the can cool off, I just throw the glove over it and bag it all up. Definitely a good cheap solution at like $25 for a pair of welding gloves.
@Tacticool_Mutton_Chops definitely lol I did the same, I went as far as writing for suppressor on it in marker
Good stuff! Question for qd muzzle devices, if you have the option of flash hider or brake which do you choose and why? I have heard arguments for brakes as sacrificial baffles, just curious your experience!
I have a mix. I haven't seen much of a difference between the two so I just go with what's available most of the time.
Sounds good thanks for the reply, keep up the good work!
I’ve been trying to find a surefire carbon scraper for ever. As I say this I found one. Anyone used one? Worth it?
Favorite 556 silencer??
Have you ever used the modtac suppressor shields as opposed to the wraps? Keeps the can able to cool off but mitigates mirage and keeps you from burning yourself.
I have, it still obstructs lasers and lights a bit.
@@KineticConsulting Which suppressor covers do you like for mirage mitigation? I am finally getting into bolt guns and cans so I need to branch out a bit.
moisture you say? living a mile from the ocean on an island I find everything rusts & all crusty caked on crap, turns to dark concrete, with rust underneath it.
Mmmm mocha!
7 cans in and I’ll NEVER shoot unsuppressed again in my life. As a matter of fact shooting unsuppressed is down right disrespectful to me.
Reviews on the new huxwrk 7.62 TI?
I don't have one
I forget the brand of cover but it’s made for a SAW and they’ll build custom ones for any suppressor but it’s like $300. Point being you aren’t melting it and it doesn’t walk.
But it probably still obscure is my Light and Laser
Liberty defense?
@@KineticConsulting as the previous comment said libertys defense makes the straight jacket and also has demos of them being fired while on a belt fed and the can is red hot. Cover isn’t melting.
modtac also makes an interesting take where it’s similar to a heat shield that actually floats, via a rail attachment, around the can and isn’t actually in contact with it and can also be quickly detached if needed.
@@AlexZ32 yeah I forgot the name…thanks
What kind of lube do you use to help keep them clean?
Any clp man. I use samples I have lol
@@KineticConsulting ha I use that also. Lol what I meant is earlier in the video you said you put lube down the can and on the muzzle device to help clean It off when you got home.
Do you put CLP in the can before you shoot?
@@PhillipTheAssyrian you can before you shoot but it won't do much.
Huxwrx or SureFire? Looking for 1 can to swap between my 12.5 and 16in
Surefire way better option
Surefire SB2
@@McMannis85the sb2 is a louder can, more flash, it’s made for barrels under 10”, because they can have specific issues with bullets not being 100% stable, and the excessive heat from them burns up baffles faster
The rc2 regular one is perfect down to 10.3
@@randyjustin4408 that’s absolute nonsense lol. Surefire is even nice enough to list the DB testing on their webpage for the SB2. It’s absolutely not designed solely for 5.56 rifles under 10”, and the flash, even under nods, is not any more than the regular RC2. Go ahead and ask me how I know lol.
@@randyjustin4408 oh, and as someone who has tens of thousands of rounds through an SB2, it’s possible it’s chewing up the baffles faster than an RC2, but there’s no data or evidence that suggests that’s true, and it hasn’t phased any of mine in the slightest.
Sounds like you need to invest in an ultrasonic cleaner man..
1:16 uncomfortable laugh in 51T...
HUXWRX FLOW 556K and YHM TURBO K are my favorite Cans . Turbo K is a bit gassy but paired with BRT Tuned Gas Tube , SPRINGCO BLUE and H2 makes it super less gas to the face . HUXWRX is in jail right now . I've been lucky enough to shoot my buddies OSS and I'm sold . I'm long gun lefty so almost no gas to the face is legit lol .
I use DA428 ADAPTER and SOLGW KEYMO NOX HYBRID FH on most of my rigs . I'll obviously change some out for the HUXWRX EXTENDED QD FH.
Cleaning your rig after couple hundred rounds suppressed is insane how much gunk is in there .
Agreed not a fan of Adj gas blocks . BRT Tuned Gas Tubes work extremely well. SPRINGCO BLUE or Red Spring is my go too . Bootleg 4 position BCG is solid
Just use penetrating oil
My governor just ban any military or weapons training in my state! Bull shit
Illinois?
@@calebburrichter8452 VT
Algorithm.
Should have touched on running your cans wet..
Pistol and subsonics only
Most call them Blast shields
The real issue is those flow through cans don't suppress as well.
Not in my experience man. They sound better than a lot of cans I've used.
@@KineticConsulting I'd try one out if it weren't for the price tag. Flow 7.62 is insanely expensive.
@@KineticConsulting My concern with them is flash suppression. Ive seen too many videos where this still a huge fireball coming out.
Question - The old gen huxwrx can that you used to use is on expert voice for $500. Is it worth paying almost twice as much for the flow 556k?
You'll probably be happy with the original 556k I was before I used one of the flows. It's definitely lighter
