  • With the launch of our new flow control device from LUCCA, we've received some questions about how to use it, how it impacts coffee, and how it differs from flow and pressure profiling. We sat down with the Head of R&D of LUCCA to discuss all things flow control.

Thank you for this answered most of my questions! I had heard somewhere that flow control benefited most for those using lighter roasts. I home roast because I prefer the flavors of chocolate, nut, and caramel with a hint of stone fruits. Would adding flow control to my e61 still apply? I constantly play with my blend percentages and don't always hit my grind adjustments, I'm thinking flow control would help compensate, am I wrong?

flow control for darker roast helps to alter the taste. Meanwhile for lighter roast, it is almost crucial to get slow flow during the few seconds to make sure it develops the taste or else the cup will taste sour.

He makes up for it with condescension. Yes, compared to you we're all neophytes.

It is very noticeable that the handle is a flat black and very cheap appearance. I struggle to think of a machine that does not have polished black knobs and handles. What is behind this choice? I have also noticed that the dial is difficult to read, a problem associated with having white characters on a pastel background? Was this a deliberate FU to older users or was it just not thought out?

The paddle looks much different now and is polished, and the gauge is hard to read in the video because of the way the lighting is hitting the face of it. It's not difficult to read at all! clivecoffee.com/products/lucca-e61-flow-control?variant=39908236722264

@@clivecoffee This is better than in the video but not yet as polished as what is on the machine.
