Mcnally proceeds to throw an entire other nightstand into the lock mechanism. It worked so perfectly when he removed the nightstand it blew a hole through the front
What you see is inside the wooden door and Not actually in the open... That door does Lock, however it doesn't Look Like it would withstand much force unless reinforced with a metal frame or something.
Honestly not a terrible idea, this would actually be pick proof on the account that you couldn't use any pick to unlock it. However, just about any fridge magnet would do the trick. That is also assuming whoever is trying to unlock it knows it's a magnetic based lock and not a different mechanism or an electric lock.

Now what would make it perfect is something colourful like a flower or geometric shapes painted on the front which gives the owner a clue where to pull the magnet along but will just aeem like some decoration to others. Also the magnet could be hidden in a small everyday object (which could be among the other objects on top)

I think u misunderstood "simple" in simple idea. The thought is 100%. But I literally need three specifically precise steps to unlock it. Misaligned makes it don't work. Constantly turning and trying to realign that magnet into the spinner creates wear and tear and then destroys it from the inside.

Do you really not understand that it's a cut away view? The mechanism is supposed to be inside the door. Which is why the magnet would be needed to move them. Why would you need the magnet otherwise? besides the fact it wouldn't hold the door closed as shown. Use a little common sense.
Got an improvement for you . Put a apposite polar magnet behind the larger bar so when small bar moves it will push large bar into the locking position.

I like it. Some people dont realize that a lock can have different purposes. "Child safety lock" is one phrase. What do you keep next to the bed? Liquor, guns or sex toys? You can still have a gun that's easier to reach but you can lock the gun away when you're not in bed so it can't be reached by children. If you know about magnetic locks, you might also know about the decoy safe. The real safe is hidden. The burglar wont look for it because they're busy prying this open. 😊 Another way is to put a geo tracker inside a small but heavy safe. Place some rocks inside along with scraps of metal. Seal the safe closed using an adhesive. A burglar will steal the whole safe. While attempting to open the safe, you'll have some time to give their location to the police.

Would be cool if there was another hidden cabinet that only unlocked when you put it in a certain spot. Would be hard to design though. Not impossible, just hard.
I'm on the opinion that locks are only designed to delay the inevitable. If someone wants to stay safe, it's not as simple as investing into more complicated or sturdier things. There's many channels already dedicated to busting locks and this magnet design is no different, in fact it's easier to bypass.
It looks complicated, until you reliz3 you can easily open it with anything as this as a toothpick, you can turn the dial, use the toothpick ti raise the 2nd metal piece blocking the 1st piece from movieng, and probably use your fingers for the 1st piece to open it.

It looks complicated, until you reliz3 you can easily open it with anything as this as a toothpick, you can turn the dial, use the toothpick ti raise the 2nd metal piece blocking the 1st piece from movieng, and probably use your fingers for the 1st piece to open it.
