I find knowing my type helps me when shopping and saves me a lot of money. I zero in on a certain style of clothing and am able to avoid 75% of the other styles available. I like a lot of different styles and in the past would buy what I later found to be less than great on me. No more donating all the clothes I won’t wear. I’ve been able to really scale back on the amount of clothing I own and have only added pieces of good quality which I wear all the time.

    Video Idea :
A video about each type where you show 3 or 4 women of the same type with completely different styles (but they still respect their lines) + maybe also to show the slight differences in proportions and features within the same category.
I think that would be very useful to show that you can be any type but still wear the style you want as long as you adjust and modefy the pieces to fit your lines and your body type + it will show that personal touch IS important to add even more to your style.
It can be frustrating to know that a certain style or trend would never look good on your type!

Pleaaaaaase do a video on Selena Gomez. Like a whole in depth look at her style, her red carpets, her street style, photoshoots and compare the different lines she wears and see what she looks best in, Ive always thought she’s an abnormally narrow soft natural, because she seems to look sooo perfect in softer baggier clothes, natural hair and no make up. Alot of other clothes looks stiff on her, too much make up looks silly, I would love to know what you think! She’s such an anomaly in the Kibbe community.

@classical chameleon I mean, his commentary about Selena made sense. I just hope he releases a new redux of the book to suit though. The exaggerated description he gave TR is what makes people have type resistance. It’s having the opposite result that instead of flattering it’s making the type frustrating.

I wold love to hear more detailed analyse of the effects that different elements of clothing or styling have against people’s bodies or essence.
Like in ‘Kibbe is NOT a style’ where you describe the effects of baby doll dress shape on romantic, or preppy outfit proportions on flamboyant natural. Or in ‘10 body type stereotypes’ when you contrast the effects of boufant hair on soft dramatic vs gamine.
It is really helpful when you annotate an image or compare to an alternative, rather then just ‘looks good on them/not their best look’ or ‘looks harmonious’ etc.
Knowing the how and why behind elements that might be avoided or utilised makes it helpful to adapt the system to individual nuances.

Kibbe really help me about my clothing and finding what suit me the most. The thing is it took way longer than I thought to find my type, cause I mistype and depend too much on the "rule" to buy clothes. We need to see the type within ourself, not just follow the example we see on the internet. For my case, I am soft natural but cause I am thin and quite tall(among my friends) so if anyone see me they dont see the width or softness that much, they'd probaly just see a tall thin person. But I'm standing next to my friend (a classic which has almost same height and weight as me), they can see my shoulder and upper body is wider, my arms legs even my hands are bigger than her hands. Really interesting that our body can be so difference like that.

There is just one thing we have to remember. Body shape is more important than facial features. Body shape is primary to the face in typing. You can add one or 2 elements in portrait zone, like hair style and save the day, if your body doesn't match to the face type. Just like color analysis. As long as you are not showing too much skin, just wear any colors except the portrait zone, especially in winter.
The jackets!! Hello to orange color for all us cool girls! Just get a big blue scarf and a fun large blue hat (doesn't have to match exactly) and you're the citrus queen of the north!

    • @blueice011
      @blueice011 2 года назад +9

Yes, it would be interesting to hear what makes her NOT being Dramatic. In her case, the predominant factor for typing her as FN is her height, IMO. You're 6' - FN. Anything else is secondary. To my eyes, she's narrow, tall and straight - D. They all spend time in the gym now, but she doesn't feel naturally strong and athletic to me. Face is not a factor any more, but even if it was a factor, she still has yang lips and eyes by shape, she doesn't have wide or button size nose. Her face was wider appearing before but her jaw line is not very soft appearing to me. Her hair is N, for sure. Regarding vibe, I wouldn't put he in N group either. I don't know her, I go by her public persona. Vibe, body and face wise - today, she has more of classic essence and presence than 'free spirit', beach babe one. If she was shorter, she would be DC easily, IMHO.

Thank you for this video! The more I delve into Kibbe typology, the better I can identify Kibbe types in others, even though I find it challenging to pinpoint my own type. Each video I watch provides additional insights, bringing me closer to discovering my type. I found the explanation using Nicole Kidman particularly helpful, illustrating how subtle differences in features can define a type. However, I'm still torn between D, FN, and DC in myself. I exhibit obvious elongation, long limbs, not to much flesh, and a narrow chest like Nicole Kidman, yet I do not look good in clothes with the less defined waistlines (characteristic of Dramatic Kibbe lines). Also, I find that many FN lines don't suit me, possibly because my hips appear too feminine for that category. This dilemma leads me to consider DC as a potential type, as many DC lines complement my figure due to their typically fitted nature.
I would be interested in watching a video featuring celebrities in everyday outfits, analyzing whether their clothing aligns with their Kibbe type. Using paparazzi photos could offer valuable insights into the finer details that influence a celebrity's classification, aiding in our personal style journeys.

The struggle is real! When I analyze myself, I think that I definitely have a soft classic face, my features are balanced to the extent where they can be unmemorable. I often encounter that people find it hard to place me as soon as I change my hair. BUT my body is more leaning towards soft natural, I definitely have some largeness and bluntness in my bones with a lot of flesh and muscle. When I was younger, I gravitated towards natural wardrobe. I found that slightly oversized, flowy pieces help minimize the "heaviness" effect. But when I look at my pictures from those ages, I can see that the boho patterns and accessories were too overwhelming for my face. I was definitely lost behind them. Now that I am older and influenced by the media more, I try to choose more "classic" pieces. However, again, on photos I find that they often make me look too bulky and stiff. At the same time, they look more harmonious with my face. Basically, I am always torn between these two styling choices and the result always seems to look wrong. Hope your videos will shed some light :)

I have a question please, Aly. I am a flamboyant natural but I have a very large bust. So most people would say I am a Romantic, but I am truly a Flamboyant Natural with no waist. As regards to flowy clothes, they all seem to make me look larger due to the 'overflow' caused by my large bust. Any suggestions for tops and dresses please? Thank you!

I second this and hoping she sees this comment 2 years later!! I thought I was a SD because of my large bust but my waist is quite straight from my bust and my hips don’t flare out much. I’m 33-27-38 and 5’8” with lots of natural muscle. The large chest is so prominent that I assumed I was a SD but I think I’m FN yet I can not wear anything too oversized or I look like a cartoon with an even larger chest and shapeless lol!! I find I can only wear about a half size to size larger or else things look really shapeless on me. I prefer clean lines and more classic style but I can’t wear button downs with the large chest. Stretch and more body skimming silhouettes are my go to!
Please Aly make a video on this!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

    Hello Aly,
I have found your videos extremely interesting and helpful. So, thank you very much! I am a FN type with a few Classic facial elements. When it comes to jewelry, would chunky and oversized still be best? I should aim to flatter my overall body type, right? And not base my choices on simply on the fact that my face may have some Classic elements. So far, I feel oversized jewelry( especially earrings) is more flattering. I like classic pieces, but feel like they disappear on me. Btw, I can’t tell you enough what a relief it is to understand WHY styles for other types do not flatter me. I think I would have assumed I was Classic, but it’s obvious that I am FN.
    Thank you again, Hannah

I struggle a bit, though I’ve narrowed it down to TR. Then, I randomly grew four inches (rare to happen in your 20s) and am evidently too tall to be TR. Ask for others opinion on your vertical line, as that can be a deciding factor, as well as broad shoulders (vs not broad shoulders). The flashiness of your cheekbones also can be. Deciding factor.

Im sg but i dress in tr lines because they look better on me. i think its because my body is more like tr than sg but i dont have the double curve which puts me in sg . I prefer to use tr and sd lines . Although im sg and 5'3 i look good in long dresses and skirts, (midi length looks best but even down to the ankle looks fine) due to my longer legs (29/30 inch) and small head, i have a moderate verticle line. I dont believe everyone can be put in a box when were all so different. Theres no need to figure out your body type, its best to just see descriptions and people who look like parts of your body legs/torso/face and see how they are styled on these types of videos.

With all due respect, to my opinion, Nicole Kidman is straight up a Dramatic body type. Apologies, but that is my opinon. Why should we say that she is a "narrow" Flamboyant Natural when the Yang in her body is long and narrow? Long narrow yang is Dramatic according to Kibbe. It is so frustrating that Kibbe has come up with this amazing classification system and then apparently mixes everything up by using his own system in a way that is confusing and contradictary. Anyway this is just my opinion and I am sure that there is an opposing one out there and just for the sake of discussion thought I would comment! Thank you Aly Art for your continued interesting videos on this subject!

I know for sure that I am a natural because I don’t fit in the other kibbe types. The thing is is that it’s hard for me to either put myself in the soft natural or flamboyant natural category. My shoulders are not prominently broad but kind of slight. I have width but I do not have curve. I have width but I don’t have a long vertical line. For me I would have put myself as a pure natural because of that. I find my body resembles Margot Robbie’s because she has width but doesn’t have curve and in my opinion I don’t think she has a long vertical line. Plus her shoulders are not prominent broad.

I have a question... Does a Romantic will always have a small waist? I'm not talking about a defined waist, but a waist too small in comparison to the hips n bust. If not, could she be another type, even when everything else on her is rounded? Rounded shoulders, small hands, not elongated vertical line, rounded hips fulled figure? I'm taking Drew Barrymore as an example, if you see recent shots of her at the beach you'll see she don't have waist at all. Even though, she is typed as a Romantic and i agree. Everything else on her is romantic. So i have this doubt, if anyone can help me.

I find it difficult to see the difference between dramatic a flamboyant naturals. I actually would classify as a mixture. I watched your video on dramatic compared to other body types (thanks for all of them:), but is it possible to in between these two types? I mean in the video you mentioned that these are quite similar. I would say, I have wider shoulders that the "prime example" of a dramatic, but not so much, that I would range me in the category of stereotypical "flamboyant naturals". 🙈

But the way it hangs on my upper body, I can pull it off. Also, I have to be mindful of what I’m wearing underneath it. This all makes sense. I think Selena is a natural or flamboyant natural but there is obvious softness to her! That’s my understanding. We have - type but then where do we lean, to more dramatic or softer?
