      I'm TR and I really struggle with picking the right fabrics. I look great in suede (or even shiny leather shoes and bags) and anything silk generally looks great or soft materials if they're woven but I have the hardest time making standard T-Shirt material work on me. It usually just doesn't sit right... Or maybe I'm going for the wrong shapes, who knows!

      Yeah, I'm romantic and leather also looks awful on me, but I rock chiffon, silk, viscose, cotton. Jewerly has to be roundish and classy, like gold or pearls, something shiny. Wooden or plastic accesories look off on me.

      I agree. I always thought I ended up looking like a potato in a sack. I lived in asia where style tends towards loose but without waist emphasis and it drove me mad because it never worked for me.
      As a side note. I would love for her to do a new series delving into the specifics of how to do specific styles for each body type. For example, goth, boho, elegant, punk, and so on specifically for each body type. I think many people would love specific advice. Personally as a TR it was very challenging to figure out how to do casual looks without it looking crap because it was too simple. It feels like you always need accessories to save simple outfits.

      I'm also a TR, and I gained weight during the Pandemic. My mother in law gave me a long turtle neck poncho, with embroidered flowers, which is nice, thinking it would help to hide my belly or something, but I just look so heavy... 20 kilos heavier.

    • @linibellini
      @linibellini 3 года назад +14

      Fully agree! My face has a lot of sharp lines and just judging by that and with the sharper shoulders I would look awesome in dramatic clothes. And I so wish I did! But every time I put on a longer or plain top I look so weirdly shaped. My curves just poke through the fabric as weird surprises that make no sense. Or I just look like 10 years older, 10 kilos heavier!
      I got some fun belts that should look tacky or over the top on most people (green alligator print, full metal gold and silver belt) and surprisingly they often save my outfits! Even a plain dress that has no details and no waist emphasis can become wearable with a belt like that wrapped around my waist.
      Same goes for handbags. I like cleaner lines but I always make sure to go for small bags with either a golden chain, embellishment or tassel detail.
      My boyfriend usually finds my bag choices too much / tacky looking but once I put them on it looks classy and like just the right amount of detail (or sometimes even still understated). So funny how that works!

    As a theatrical romantic (and I guess this would go for all romantics) waist emphasis is EVERYTHING! usually we have full chest and wide hips, so without our waist emphasis we just look like boxes 😅😅 but that can be a statement in itself and it is good to make informed decisions ❤️
    Also, does anyone have a fashion suggestion for those days we are bloated and the waist emphasis unfortunately emphasises also the belly? I just wear loose shirts on those days, but that makes me feel not put together and you know how it is on thisr few days if the month, I would like to feel more confident and elegant. Thank you ❤️

    • @formaldehyde3864
      @formaldehyde3864 3 года назад +16

      I am R and have a fairly small bust but wide hips. I still really need that waist emphasis though to not look like a box. But on bloated days empire cut things are nice I think, to get a bit of waist but a loose fit over the stomach. Or maybe that works best if you have a small bust, idk 🤷‍♀️ That or shirts that are kind of loose but still have a shape, if that makes sense

    • @mirecek0210

      @@formaldehyde3864 thanks! Such a shame that they don't really make nicely constructed clothes in my price range shops. It's usually the simplest straigh cut or body hugging stretchy fabrics for 'the curvy people'. Do you find that too?

I struggle with the bloated days as well, but trying to keep the outfit more thight above the waist, and then looser is what I find I need to do. Or wear something flowy that pulls in at the waist a bit. But it's not always easy to find what you need in the shops. Hope you can find something that works for you!

    I have a special request. I'm a theatrical romantic, and it seems to me that there are not many good examples of casual looks for romantic or theatrical romantics. I really struggle to apply the kibbie principles for my shape to casual wear. Could you do a video on casual, everyday outfits for romantic and theatrical romantics? It seems like out of all the body shapes ours are the least able to throw on a pair of jeans and pair it with a simple top!

    • @il5702
      @il5702 3 года назад +10

      As a TR myself, I often wear this casual combo you're describing under the following conditions: the jeans are actually thin and stretchy jeggins, they accentuate the curves, nothing bulky, super high waist, super narrow at the ankles + the top is simple yet it has at least a few of those textbook TR elements such as a delicate metallic thread in the fabric, or spaghetti straps / delicate sleeves with shoulder cut-outs rather than typical t-shirt sleeves that are just way too bulky for us. How bout that? ;)

    • @linibellini
      @linibellini 3 года назад +4

      I'm a TR too and my standard jeans and t-shirt look is a pair of black skinny jeans or cropped (!) mom jeans with either heels or flat sandals, paired with a silky strappy top slightly tucked in at the front. Or thin linen fabric T-shirts work great too. With those I get some that have rolled up sleeves and aren't too wide or long. The shoulders must sit well.
      For summer I love wearing an A -line skirt that emphasises the waist with a blouse or shirt tucked in. I have these skirts that are of a stiffer, crisp but thin cotton with some gathering around the waist and a loosely tied belt of the same material and I love pairing that with a softer, more relaxed fabric for the top.
      Another summer favourite are high waist, wide leg cropped pants made from thin material with a top or shirt tucked in and a detailed / glamorous looking waist belt!
      I always make sure to show my ankles, collar bone and wrists. Seems just as important as showing the waist to me!

    • @Nina-cd6uw
      @Nina-cd6uw 3 года назад +1

      There's this meme - 'Is it fashion or is she just thin?' and I think that often fits.
      If you're a celebrity, possibly a model and maybe have modeled in the past and also look like a clothing hanger you can wear a lot of things with *intent* and confidence and posture and it will look convincingly like fashion.
      I feel like often we just assume that these people know what they're doing and therefore it must be fashion.

So Im basically saying is Im always pulled or attracted to things that are not for me I wish I could train myself to go straight to what is for me . I agree with you, I feel like most “trendy” things look weird on me as a classic, even though they look good on everyone around me. What I’ve found helpful when shopping is to try on everything I can find even if I don’t like how it looks on the hanger or the mannequin, and to be rather cynical about the things I think I’ll like. I’ve often found that what end up as my favourite pieces are things I actually didn’t like when I first saw them.

    As a soft natural I can totally relate to looking alien in a punk style, as upsetting as it is I love punk style but even since I was a young teen, I wore those clothes and had the hair but it never looked right. Also the bleach blonde looks wrong on me, always look better when it's toned down to Ash colour and my roots grow!

      Borrow some things from similar body types. Example: I'm Romantic. So when I want to look more tough I try to borrow from Soft Classic and Theatrical Romantic. I also can borrow from Soft Natural and Soft Gamine. Of course not everything, it depends. I also suggest you "How to dress Rock 'n' Roll Chic" by Elyssa. She uses Kibbe body types. She also did videos on Grunge, Bohemian etc.

      Being both Romantic and goth is hard, hah, but I almost figured it out. I just make my makeup very soft, like, glossy gradient black lips with some purple tint instead of full-glam black matte lips. My eyeliner is curved, I don't contour my face (maybe some soft lines on sides of my face to make it look slimmer, but no cheek contour or harsh lines!). For outfits I choose witchy-like clothing, long skirts with soft layers, corsets, loose shirt with long puffy sleeves etc. I know I don't look "angry and dangerous" like I'd want to, but I cannot change my whole body, I have to work with it.

    • @JR-sx3gl

      @@TechnoScorpion2137 yes, exactly 😊. We'll never pull off a vampire, Morticia Addams look, more of an otherworldly, goth angelic. All my frustration and not being able to understand why I just look ridiculous, butchy or like I'm pretending being someone else when I do exactly as other girls. Corsets are a basic for us Rs for the waist emphasis.

    While I appreciate this list for some of my smaller and average-sized friends, I hope at some point you can add something for plus-size bodies. It might be a little harder to find sample pictures, but it can often feel like we're all categorized into two or three versions of "fat" and it would be helpful to see some plus size variations of these body types so I can figure out where I am in this scale.

    Hey Aly, thank you so much for your videos about the body types, they are so helpful! Found out, that I'm a SC. Since I already have a lot of colorful detailed tattoos (that I love) I wondered if there is a way to make tattoos work with every body type? Or does it change the body type? A lot of people have stuff that they like (f.e. a certain haircolor/hairstyle etc.) that just doesn't fit their type. So is there a way to incorporate such things into your style so it works with your body type? A lot of people would probably benefit from a video about that topic!

When I tried gamine alike styles I felt not classy and kind boyish which I personally don’t look for. I’ll try again to “fit” in my FG lines. I just wanted to be sexy and feminine without colour blocking and straight pieces :’)

    • @babieeden
      @babieeden Год назад

      Im an FG and what Ive found is that we naturally go for pieces that look good on us... think of your favorite outfits where you felt sexy. They probably incorporate elements of drama, linearity and yang that compliment us as FGs. I think when considering Kibbe fashion its less about the style and more about the balance on your individual frame.
      You can technically wear anything BUT how others perceive you as a whole is made evident by this typing system. A woman that embraces her Kibbe in a particular outfit is very striking. For example, Andy in The Devil Wears Prada i believe began to dress more according to her Kibbe which made her stand out in that iconic montage of her new outfits- despite her always being beautiful no matter what she wore.

    With the Olsen twins, I definitely don't want to assume anything. But a guess is maybe they've purposely chosen such long, wide, dramatic fashion and (I think?) more sculptural face plastic surgery as part of a desire to look older and be taken more seriously. Since they naturally have a more cutesy baby face, small, youthful look. Also it feels different than the teen pop bubbly style of their young TV/movie career so maybe it's a reclaiming of their fashion as markedly different and more in a way "adult" (and modern cutting edge) than back when I imagine they possibly had less say over their fashion image and possibly didn't know themselves as well back then. Also maybe they enjoy not drawing too much attention to their bodies hence such large clothes? All of that is just guesses,; I could be totally wrong!

If you have a very defined waist, flesh, you have full lips and some sharpness, you're probably a Theatrical Romantic. So you won't look that good with classic hairstyles, they'll look "bland". Defined curls, or lushous hair is the way. How do you look with sparkles and glamour? Shiny makeup? If you look good you're TR!! PS. I rewatched and your cheekbones have some sharpness but also flesh. You look very good with gloss, curls, full hair, bright hair colour. Yes, I'd say TR.
