Family video was my first official job. I closed and I loved working those busy Friday nights! I grew up going there with my dad every weekend for a new movie or game. The memories this place helped me make will never be forgotten.

Going to Family Video in my childhood was definitely the good old times and good old days and if we live in a different timeline that everything was same, Family Video will still exist

Family Video would still be here if it wasn't for the Stupid Pandemic! They should of kept 1 open like Blockbuster because they lasted so long! R.I.P. Family Video!

They never got to Colorado-KS, OK, NE were as close as it got-but I wonder would they still be open had it not been for the pandemic? What made this place such that it survived Blockbuster (which I understand just closed the last open store in Alaska) by a full decade?

They owned most of their real estate instead of leasing it, which was a big part of their survival. They were also mainly in rural and suburban areas where the rental business survived longer, instead of big cities.

Family Video compensated by selling CBD and Marco’s Pizza in the store. And rural locations often lack internet fast enough for streaming movies.

Denver CO had a Family Video….. probably a few other locations scattered around the state. Their area of influence was from the Rockies to the Appalachian Mountains.

How sad. Video stores were so much fun! I wish one day, they would come back! Shame on you Netflix! Huge shame on you, COVID-19! Especially, the latter, you've taken so much from us! One day, you will lose and meet your match! Probably even Facebook and Netflix will go down the tubes.

Well at least we still have the Local video rental "store" (A.K.A the Public Library, all you need is a Library card and you can rent movies for FREE!)

Blockbuster soldout in 2010. They closed all corporate stores in 2014. All that’s left is one family-owned store in Oregon.

That Blockbuster in Bend, Oregon is a privately-owned store, that uses the name from a license agreement with the trademark holders (which I believe is Dish Network). If they (Dish) were to choose not to renew the license agreement then, that "Blockbuster" store would cease to exist.
