Thanks for the video! I'm interested in getting a cricut now that I've tried to carve the stars and had a ton of difficulty making it clean. How long do you let the paint dry before peeling the vinyl?
If you do not want it to bleed, put the stencil down paint the original color on it first. Let it dry with the stencil still on the area. After it is dry spray paint or paint the desired color and then take the stencil off. By doing these steps you create a sealed barrier on the stencil and this will prevent bleeding.
@@731Woodworks Here is how it is done... Set your stencil then spray it with a clear fast dry finish of the right sheen, then you can paint without bleeding.

I also have a cricket that I use for some of my stencil work on my wood signs and I have found as long as I use a white paint and a good stiff stencil brush I can get by with using cardstock paper and make reusable stencils and get multiple uses out of them you have to use the heavier cardstock and make sure that the paint that is on the stencil dries before reusing but it seems to work quite well and hit saves a decent amount of money in the long run I have been using a stencil I made of my logo to sign my work with for several months now and it seems to me work very well
Here is a little tip I’ve learned with painters tape, this might help with stencils,,, Unfortunately it’s a 2 step process... First step use a very dry brush,,, meaning wipe off almost all of the paint,, and very lightly brush over the edges,,, This very limited amount of paint doesn’t result in a lot of capillary action sucking the paint under the edge. This very light painting touch kind of seals the edges of your stencil or painters tape. Then go back around and use a wet brush to fully fill it in. The Beauty of this technique is by the time you have gone all the way around the stencil, the first time, the light coat will be dry and the second coat will be easy peasy. If you try this, please let me know if you can,,, if this also works for stencils Great videos

Hey Matt. Thanks for sharing your videos. Has me back in the shop after close to a year of no interest. I’ve done painted wood signs for years and use a silhouette (the 1st gen) for cutting stencils. Folks, if you actually read the Code, as we had to do in the USNA, you will see that this is desecration. Does he mean to be unpatriotic? No. Is he desecrating the flag as defined by the Flag Code? Thank you so much for your videos. It has made want to try new things. Maybe i'm dense, but i don't understand the transfer paper part. If you put transfer paper over the stencil, aren't you covering up the holes you just cut out? Or did you remove the transfer paper after getting it in position? I didn't see that in the video.
You used the transfer paper to get the stencil in place. Then remove the transfer paper, leaving just the stencil
@@731Woodworks Got it. Thank you so much for your quick response and keep up the great work sir!

I’m not a marine, although I have the utmost respect for them!
Well that flags with the EGA makes you an honorary Marine. Semper Fi. Beautiful work.
Thank you!
You’re welcome have a good day
0:04 do you sell the union with the hole cut out for the hobby Lobby marine plaque I don’t own a router or a Cnc And mail it to the NW Arkansas.
Beautiful, except for the Marine Core thing...Army would have been better. Just kidding.
ha ha. Thanks.
Ah the irony of yet another patriotic person who violates the Marine Flag Code with nothing less than a Marine logo. Folks, if you actually read the Code, as we had to do in the USNA, you will see that this is desecration. Does he mean to be unpatriotic? No. Is he desecrating the flag as defined by the Flag Code? Yes.
Thank you for commenting on the video. I disagree with you though. I did not desecrate the flag. I made my own flag. This flag is a thing of its own. One of a kind.
