  • Easy DIY Carved Wood Waving American Flag | Perfect for Patriotic Decor!
Looking for a fun and easy DIY project to showcase your patriotic spirit? Look no further! This video tutorial will guide you through the process of creating your very own carved wood waving American flag. Made from 1x2 lumber, this project is lightweight and can be completed without the need for a table saw.
In this step-by-step video, we'll show you how to bring your patriotic vision to life. All you need are a few simple tools and supplies, including a jigsaw, sandpaper, paint, stain, and a few pieces of lumber. Whether you're an experienced woodworker or a beginner, this project is a fantastic opportunity to practice your skills and create something truly unique.
Join us as we demonstrate the process, from cutting the 1x2 pine boards into the right dimensions to gluing them together and forming the waving flag design. We'll then show you how to use an angle grinder with a wood carving disc and 80-grit flap sanding disc to add texture and detail. With an oscillating sander and various grit papers, we'll smooth the surface to perfection.
To bring the flag to life, we'll stain the wood using our own homemade red wood stain (don't forget to watch the video for the recipe!). Adding the stars and union is a breeze with either vinyl self-adhesive stars or a Union Star Template available on ETSY. We'll enhance the union with Navy Blue spray paint and finish off the entire flag with a clear high gloss lacquer for protection and a polished look.
Get ready to elevate your patriotic decor with this easy-to-make carved wood waving American flag! Follow along with our tutorial, grab your tools, and let your creativity shine!

Great work. Really like how you ground down the back - it definitely adds to the wave structure.

I love this flag. I always wanted to do the 2x4 version because I have lots of scrap 2x4s, but I never liked the weight of the finished flag. I think I'll rip them down to the dimensions you used, so I get your size of flag with FREE lumber. Thank you for some great ideas.
