    I like to let the pod dry out almost before removing it from the plant, then you can take it inside and let it continue to dry. In the early spring I open the pod and remove the seed and put them in a clear container with a lid until they sprout and then I’ll plant the sprouted seed. Good luck!

    I maintain a property that has 350 red yuccas, we’ve just plucked the seed stems and we have thousands of them. Don’t really know what to do with them. Could you plant these in the ground? They seem to naturally spread by dropping the seeds close by and propagating on their own developing clusters and after a few years really need to be thinned out.

      Wow 350! That’s a lot of Red Yuccas🤗 I will try just dropping seeds around the garden.They do produce tons of seeds! Thanks for watching and for your comment🤍

    I thought you have to let these completely dry before you can take the seats out?

      Mine germinated. Thanks for watching!

      It works best if you let the pod almost completely dry before removing from the plant. Then take it inside and let the pod finish drying on the windowsill. In early spring open the pod and put the seed in a clear plastic container with a lid and let them soak until you see them start to sprout and then you can plant in a seedling tray with potting soil. Just keep them moist until you see them fully sprout.

      @@Jaybird-oo3ih you just set it in a clear container and soak the pod itself in water? do you put soil in the container too or does it just sprout out of the pod in the container?

    My seed pods have dried and cracked open on the plant...can I plant them or does the pod need to be green?

    • @CactiOnWhite
      @CactiOnWhite  3 года назад +4

      Those seeds should still be viable! I have seed pods still on the bloom stalk that have darken and dried that I’m going to harvest🤍

      I harvest all of mine once the pod is dried in the fall and starting to open. Then I don’t have to worry about them being wet and molding and I can immediately put them in ziplocks for the following year to grow!

      @@CactiOnWhite did your green seeds sprout? I just harvested a dry pod from a friend. I hope they germinate

    • @Sabrina1998
      @Sabrina1998 2 года назад

      Actually you want them dried before you take the seed out. You can now store them in paper bags or envelopes or you can use them to seed new plants. You do not want these parts green when you harvest the seed
